The first column gives the word in Gurmukhi. If you click on the Gurmukhi word (or right click and select 'open in a new tab or new window) then this will open a link to the dictionary at Srigranth.

Not only does this dictionary provide the normal translation into Punjabi provided by Maha Kosh but also provides a limited translation into English - this is a unique feature which cannot be found elsewhere.

If you click (or right click and select 'open in a new tab or new window) on the little superscript 'S' next to the Gurmukhi word, this will open a page showing all the lines in the Guru Granth Sahib that use this Gurmukhi word as a word or as part of a word.

The second column gives the word in Roman text. This feature is useful if you are unable to read the Gurmukhi script. The third column gives the meaning of the word in English. The fourth column may have information on the grammar of other comments regarding this word.

Adding a new entry into the list

To add a new entry, follow the procedure below:

Each line is made up of four components - The word in Gurmukhi (unicode format), Gurmukhi word in Roman text, the translation in English and finally the grammar or comment column. If you wish to add a new word say "Jaap", then follow the procedure thus:

1. Click on the letter J - this will take you to the section beginning with all the words beginning with "J"
2. Then click on the Edit option on the top right-hand corner
3. This will open the edit window. Move down through the list in this window until you reach the correct alphabetical position.
4. Here create a new line thus:

6. Once who have added your new entry, press the "Show preview" button at the bottom of the edit window.
7. If everything appears right, then press the "Save page" button
