{{g|ਪੂਰਾ ਪਰਭ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ Pūrĝ parabẖ ĝrĝḝẖi▫ĝ pūrĝ jĝ kĝ nĝ▫o. I worship and adore the Perfect Lord God. Perfect is His Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੇ ਗਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ Nĝnak pūrĝ pĝ▫i▫ĝ pūre ke gun gĝ▫o. ||1|| O Nanak, I have obtained the Perfect One; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Perfect Lord. ||1||
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ Asatpaḝī. Ashtapadee:
ਪੂਰੇ ਗਰ ਕਾ ਸਨਿ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥ Pūre gur kĝ sun upḝes. Listen to the Teachings of the Perfect Guru;
ਪਾਰਬਰਹਮ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਕਰਿ ਪੇਖ ॥ Pĝrbarahm nikat kar pekẖ. see the Supreme Lord God near you.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥ Sĝs sĝs simrahu gobinḝ. With each and every breath, meditate in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe,
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਉਤਰੈ ਚਿੰਦ ॥ Man anṯar kī uṯrai cẖinḝ. and the anxiety within your mind shall depart.
ਆਸ ਅਨਿਤ ਤਿਆਗਹ ਤਰੰਗ ॥ Ās aniṯ ṯi▫ĝgahu ṯarang. Abandon the waves of fleeting desire,
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੰਗ ॥ Sanṯ janĝ kī ḝẖūr man mang. and pray for the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਆਪ ਛੋਡਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਹ ॥ Āp cẖẖod benṯī karahu. Renounce your selfishness and conceit and offer your prayers.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਤਰਹ ॥ Sĝḝẖsang agan sĝgar ṯarahu. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, cross over the ocean of fire.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕੇ ਭਰਿ ਲੇਹ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥ Har ḝẖan ke bẖar leho bẖandĝr. Fill your stores with the wealth of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ॥੧॥ Nĝnak gur pūre namaskĝr. ||1|| Nanak bows in humility and reverence to the Perfect Guru. ||1||
ਖੇਮ ਕਸਲ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ॥ Kẖem kusal sahj ĝnanḝ. Happiness, intuitive peace, poise and bliss -
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਜ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥ Sĝḝẖsang bẖaj parmĝnanḝ. in the Company of the Holy, meditate on the Lord of supreme bliss.
ਨਰਕ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਉਧਾਰਹ ਜੀਉ ॥ Narak nivĝr uḝẖĝrahu jī▫o. You shall be spared from hell - save your soul!
ਗਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਅੰਮਰਿਤ ਰਸ ਪੀਉ ॥ Gun gobinḝ amriṯ ras pī▫o. Drink in the ambrosial essence of the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਚਿਤਿ ਚਿਤਵਹ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਝਕ ॥ Cẖiṯ cẖiṯvahu nĝrĝ▫iṇ ek. Focus your consciousness on the One, the All-pervading Lord -
ਝਕ ਰੂਪ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ Ėk rūp jĝ ke rang anek. He has One Form, but He has many manifestations.
ਗੋਪਾਲ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥ Gopĝl ḝĝmoḝar ḝīn ḝa▫i▫ĝl. Sustainer of the Universe, Lord of the world, Kind to the poor,
ਦਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥ Ḏukẖ bẖanjan pūran kirpĝl. Destroyer of sorrow, perfectly Merciful.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ॥ Simar simar nĝm bĝraʼn bĝr. Meditate, meditate in remembrance on the Naam, again and again.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੨॥ Nĝnak jī▫a kĝ ihai aḝẖĝr. ||2|| O Nanak, it is the Support of the soul. ||2||
ਉਤਮ ਸਲੋਕ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ॥ Uṯam salok sĝḝẖ ke bacẖan. The most sublime hymns are the Words of the Holy.
ਅਮਲੀਕ ਲਾਲ ਝਹਿ ਰਤਨ ॥ Amulīk lĝl ehi raṯan. These are priceless rubies and gems.
ਸਨਤ ਕਮਾਵਤ ਹੋਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥ Sunaṯ kamĝvaṯ hoṯ uḝẖĝr. One who listens and acts on them is saved.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਲੋਕਹ ਨਿਸਤਾਰ ॥ Āp ṯarai lokah nisṯĝr. He himself swims across, and saves others as well.
ਸਫਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਸਫਲ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਗ ॥ Safal jīvan safal ṯĝ kĝ sang. His life is prosperous, and his company is fruitful;
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ॥ Jĝ kai man lĝgĝ har rang. his mind is imbued with the love of the Lord.
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਸਬਦ ਅਨਾਹਦ ਵਾਜੈ ॥ Jai jai sabaḝ anĝhaḝ vĝjai. Hail, hail to him, for whom the sound current of the Shabad vibrates.
ਸਨਿ ਸਨਿ ਅਨਦ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਭ ਗਾਜੈ ॥ Sun sun anaḝ kare parabẖ gĝjai. Hearing it again and again, he is in bliss, proclaiming God's Praises.
ਪਰਗਟੇ ਗਪਾਲ ਮਹਾਂਤ ਕੈ ਮਾਥੇ ॥ Pargate gupĝl mahĝʼnṯ kai mĝthe. The Lord radiates from the foreheads of the Holy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥੩॥ Nĝnak uḝẖre ṯin kai sĝthe. ||3|| Nanak is saved in their company. ||3||
ਸਰਨਿ ਜੋਗ ਸਨਿ ਸਰਨੀ ਆਝ ॥ Saran jog sun sarnī ĝ▫e. Hearing that He can give Sanctuary, I have come seeking His Sanctuary.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਰਭ ਆਪ ਮਿਲਾਝ ॥ Kar kirpĝ parabẖ ĝp milĝ▫e. Bestowing His Mercy, God has blended me with Himself.
ਮਿਟਿ ਗਝ ਬੈਰ ਭਝ ਸਭ ਰੇਨ ॥ Mit ga▫e bair bẖa▫e sabẖ ren. Hatred is gone, and I have become the dust of all.
ਅੰਮਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਲੈਨ ॥ Amriṯ nĝm sĝḝẖsang lain. I have received the Ambrosial Naam in the Company of the Holy.
ਸਪਰਸੰਨ ਭਝ ਗਰਦੇਵ ॥ Suparsan bẖa▫e gurḝev. The Divine Guru is perfectly pleased;
ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ॥ Pūran ho▫ī sevak kī sev. the service of His servant has been rewarded.
ਆਲ ਜੰਜਾਲ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਰਹਤੇ ॥ Āl janjĝl bikĝr ṯe rahṯe. I have been released from worldly entanglements and corruption,
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਕਹਤੇ ॥ Rĝm nĝm sun rasnĝ kahṯe. hearing the Lord's Name and chanting it with my tongue.
ਕਰਿ ਪਰਸਾਦ ਦਇਆ ਪਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ Kar parsĝḝ ḝa▫i▫ĝ parabẖ ḝẖĝrī. By His Grace, God has bestowed His Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਬਹੀ ਖੇਪ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੪॥ Nĝnak nibhī kẖep hamĝrī. ||4|| O Nanak, my merchandise has arrived save and sound. ||4||
ਪਰਭ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਹ ਸੰਤ ਮੀਤ ॥ Parabẖ kī usṯaṯ karahu sanṯ mīṯ. Sing the Praises of God, O Saints, O friends,
ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਝਕਾਗਰ ਚੀਤ ॥ Sĝvḝẖĝn ekĝgar cẖīṯ. with total concentration and one-pointedness of mind.
ਸਖਮਨੀ ਸਹਜ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗਨ ਨਾਮ ॥ Sukẖmanī sahj gobinḝ gun nĝm. Sukhmani is the peaceful ease, the Glory of God, the Naam.
ਜਿਸ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥ Jis man basai so hoṯ niḝẖĝn. When it abides in the mind, one becomes wealthy.
ਸਰਬ ਇਛਾ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ Sarab icẖẖĝ ṯĝ kī pūran ho▫e. All desires are fulfilled.
ਪਰਧਾਨ ਪਰਖ ਪਰਗਟ ਸਭ ਲੋਇ ॥ Parḝẖĝn purakẖ pargat sabẖ lo▫e. One becomes the most respected person, famous all over the world.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਪਾਝ ਅਸਥਾਨ ॥ Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ pĝ▫e asthĝn. He obtains the highest place of all.
ਬਹਰਿ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਨ ॥ Bahur na hovai ĝvan jĝn. He does not come and go in reincarnation any longer.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਖਾਟਿ ਚਲੈ ਜਨ ਸੋਇ ॥ Har ḝẖan kẖĝt cẖalai jan so▫e. One who departs, after earning the wealth of the Lord's Name,
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥ Nĝnak jisahi parĝpaṯ ho▫e. ||5|| O Nanak, realizes it. ||5||
ਖੇਮ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ॥ Kẖem sĝʼnṯ riḝẖ nav niḝẖ. Comfort, peace and tranquility, wealth and the nine treasures;
ਬਧਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਰਬ ਤਹ ਸਿਧਿ ॥ Buḝẖ gi▫ĝn sarab ṯah siḝẖ. wisdom, knowledge, and all spiritual powers;
ਬਿਦਿਆ ਤਪ ਜੋਗ ਪਰਭ ਧਿਆਨ ॥ Biḝi▫ĝ ṯap jog parabẖ ḝẖi▫ĝn. learning, penance, Yoga and meditation on God;
ਗਿਆਨ ਸਰੇਸਟ ਊਤਮ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥ Gi▫ĝn saresat ūṯam isnĝn. The most sublime wisdom and purifying baths;
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਮਲ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥ Cẖĝr paḝĝrath kamal pargĝs. the four cardinal blessings, the opening of the heart-lotus;
ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧਿ ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਉਦਾਸ ॥ Sabẖ kai maḝẖ sagal ṯe uḝĝs. in the midst of all, and yet detached from all;
ਸੰਦਰ ਚਤਰ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ ॥ Sunḝar cẖaṯur ṯaṯ kĝ beṯĝ. beauty, intelligence, and the realization of reality;
ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਝਕ ਦਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ ॥ Samaḝrasī ek ḝaristeṯĝ. to look impartially upon all, and to see only the One
ਇਹ ਫਲ ਤਿਸ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਮਖਿ ਭਨੇ ॥ Ih fal ṯis jan kai mukẖ bẖane. These blessings come to one who chants the Naam with his mouth,
ਗਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਚਨ ਮਨਿ ਸਨੇ ॥੬॥ Gur Nĝnak nĝm bacẖan man sune. ||6|| and hears the Word with his ears through Guru Nanak. ||6||
ਇਹ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਪੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥ Ih niḝẖĝn japai man ko▫e. One who chants this treasure in his mind -
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ Sabẖ jug mėh ṯĝ kī gaṯ ho▫e. in every age, he attains salvation.
ਗਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਧਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥ Guṇ gobinḝ nĝm ḝẖun baṇī. In it is the Glory of God, the Naam, the chanting of Gurbani.
ਸਿਮਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤਰ ਬੇਦ ਬਖਾਣੀ ॥ Simriṯ sĝsṯar beḝ bakẖĝṇī. The Simritees, the Shaastras and the Vedas speak of it.
ਸਗਲ ਮਤਾਂਤ ਕੇਵਲ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥ Sagal maṯĝʼnṯ keval har nĝm. The essence of all religion is the Lord's Name alone.
ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਮ ॥ Gobinḝ bẖagaṯ kai man bisrĝm. It abides in the minds of the devotees of God.
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੈ ॥ Kot aprĝḝẖ sĝḝẖsang mitai. Millions of sins are erased, in the Company of the Holy.
ਸੰਤ ਕਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛਟੈ ॥ Sanṯ kirpĝ ṯe jam ṯe cẖẖutai. By the Grace of the Saint, one escapes the Messenger of Death.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮ ਪਰਭਿ ਪਾਝ ॥ Jĝ kai masṯak karam parabẖ pĝ▫e. Those, who have such pre-ordained destiny on their foreheads,
ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਆਝ ॥੭॥ Sĝḝẖ saraṇ Nĝnak ṯe ĝ▫e. ||7|| O Nanak, enter the Sanctuary of the Saints. ||7||
ਜਿਸ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸਨੈ ਲਾਇ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥ Jis man basai sunai lĝ▫e parīṯ. One, within whose mind it abides, and who listens to it with love -
ਤਿਸ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਭ ਚੀਤਿ ॥ Ŧis jan ĝvai har parabẖ cẖīṯ. that humble person consciously remembers the Lord God.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥ Janam maran ṯĝ kĝ ḝūkẖ nivĝrai. The pains of birth and death are removed.
ਦਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥ Ḏulabẖ ḝeh ṯaṯkĝl uḝẖĝrai. The human body, so difficult to obtain, is instantly redeemed.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅੰਮਰਿਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥ Nirmal sobẖĝ amriṯ ṯĝ kī bĝnī. Spotlessly pure is his reputation, and ambrosial is his speech.
ਝਕ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥ Ėk nĝm man mĝhi samĝnī. The One Name permeates his mind.
ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ॥ Ḏūkẖ rog binse bẖai bẖaram. Sorrow, sickness, fear and doubt depart.
ਸਾਧ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ ॥ Sĝḝẖ nĝm nirmal ṯĝ ke karam. He is called a Holy person; his actions are immaculate and pure.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਨੀ ॥ Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ ṯĝ kī sobẖĝ banī. His glory becomes the highest of all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਗਣਿ ਨਾਮ ਸਖਮਨੀ ॥੮॥੨੪॥ Nĝnak ih guṇ nĝm sukẖmanī. ||8||24|| O Nanak, by these Glorious Virtues, this is named Sukhmani, Peace of mind. ||8||24||
