Unto His humble servant, God has shown His kindness.

ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ੝ ॥

Sevak kīno saḝĝ nihĝl.
|Saṯgur ṯe nirmal maṯ la▫ī.
He has made His servant eternally happy.
|From the True Guru, the pure teachings are obtained.}}


ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮ੝ਕਤਿ ਜਨ੝ ਭਇਆ ॥

Banḝẖan kĝt mukaṯ jan bẖa▫i▫ĝ.

The bonds of His humble servant are cut away, and he is liberated.
|Unto His humble servant, God has shown His kindness.}}


ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੂਖ੝ ਭ੝ਰਮ੝ ਗਇਆ ॥
{{g|ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ੝ ॥
Janam maran ḝūkẖ bẖaram ga▫i▫ĝ.
|Sevak kīno saḝĝ nihĝl.
The pains of birth and death, and doubt are gone.
|He has made His servant eternally happy.}}


ਇਛ ਪ੝ਨੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਸਭ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
{{g|ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮ੝ਕਤਿ ਜਨ੝ ਭਇਆ ॥
Icẖẖ punī sarḝẖĝ sabẖ pūrī.
|Banḝẖan kĝt mukaṯ jan bẖa▫i▫ĝ.
Desires are satisfied, and faith is fully rewarded,
|The bonds of His humble servant are cut away, and he is liberated.}}


ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਜੂਰੀ ॥

Rav rahi▫ĝ saḝ sang hajūrī.
|Janam maran ḝūkẖ bẖaram ga▫i▫ĝ.
imbued forever with His all-pervading peace.
|The pains of birth and death, and doubt are gone.}}


ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

Why forget Him, who preserves us in the fire of the womb?
|Why forget Him, who has given us everything?}}


ਗ੝ਰ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
{{g|ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਆ ॥
Gur parsĝḝ ko birlĝ lĝkẖai.
|So ki▫o bisrai jė jīvan jī▫ĝ.
By Guru's Grace, rare is the one who realizes this.
|Why forget Him, who is the Life of the living beings?}}


ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਬਿਖ੝ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
{{g|ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jė bikẖ ṯe kĝdẖai.
|So ki▫o bisrai jė agan mėh rĝkẖai.
Why forget Him, who lifts us up out of corruption?
|Why forget Him, who preserves us in the fire of the womb?}}


ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਟੂਟਾ ਗਾਢੈ ॥
{{g|ਗ੝ਰ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Janam janam kĝ tūtĝ gĝdẖai.
|Gur parsĝḝ ko birlĝ lĝkẖai.
Those separated from Him for countless lifetimes, are re-united with Him once again.
|By Guru's Grace, rare is the one who realizes this.}}


ਗ੝ਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਤ੝ ਇਹੈ ਬ੝ਝਾਇਆ ॥
{{g|ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਬਿਖ੝ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
Gur pūrai ṯaṯ ihai bujẖĝ▫i▫ĝ.

Through the Perfect Guru, this essential reality is understood.
|Why forget Him, who lifts us up out of corruption?}}


ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥

Parabẖ apnĝ Nĝnak jan ḝẖi▫ĝ▫i▫ĝ. ||4||

O Nanak, God's humble servants meditate on Him. ||4||

ਆਪਿ ਜਪਹ੝ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮ੝ ਜਪਾਵਹ੝ ॥

Āp japahu avrah nĝm japĝvhu.
|Ān ṯi▫ĝg japahu har nĝm.
Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire others to chant it.
|Renounce everything else, and chant the Name of the Lord.}}

Bin bẖagṯī ṯan hosī cẖẖĝr.
|Āp japahu avrah nĝm japĝvhu.
Without devotional meditation, the body will be just ashes.
|Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire others to chant it.}}


ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ॥

Sarab kali▫ĝṇ sūkẖ niḝẖ nĝm.

All joys and comforts are in the treasure of the Naam.

ਭਲੀ ਸ੝ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਧਨਵੰਤ ॥

ਫਿਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਆਇਆ ਪਰਿਆ ਤਉ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥
Firaṯ firaṯ parabẖ ĝ▫i▫ĝ pari▫ĝ ṯa▫o sarnĝ▫e.
After wandering and wandering, O God, I have come, and entered Your Sanctuary.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Nĝnak kī parabẖ benṯī apnī bẖagṯī lĝ▫e. ((1))
This is Nanak's prayer, O God: please, attach me to Your devotional service. ((1))
ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥
Asatpaḝī.
Ashtapadee:
ਜਾਚਕ ਜਨ੝ ਜਾਚੈ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਦਾਨ੝ ॥
Jĝcẖak jan jĝcẖai parabẖ ḝĝn.
I am a beggar; I beg for this gift from You:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇਵਹ੝ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ॥
Kar kirpĝ ḝevhu har nĝm.
please, by Your Mercy, Lord, give me Your Name.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਮਾਗਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
Sĝḝẖ janĝ kī mĝga▫o ḝẖūr.
I ask for the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਪਾਰਬ੝ਰਹਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥
Pĝrbarahm merī sarḝẖĝ pūr.
O Supreme Lord God, please fulfill my yearning;
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗ੝ਨ ਗਾਵਉ ॥
Saḝĝ saḝĝ parabẖ ke gun gĝva▫o.
may I sing the Glorious Praises of God forever and ever.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਤ੝ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
Sĝs sĝs parabẖ ṯumėh ḝẖi▫ĝva▫o.
With each and every breath, may I meditate on You, O God.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਿ ॥
Cẖaran kamal si▫o lĝgai parīṯ.
May I enshrine affection for Your Lotus Feet.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੀ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥
Bẖagaṯ kara▫o parabẖ kī niṯ nīṯ.
May I perform devotional worship to God each and every day.
ਝਕ ਓਟ ਝਕੋ ਆਧਾਰ੝ ॥
Ėk ot eko ĝḝẖĝr.
You are my only Shelter, my only Support.
ਨਾਨਕ੝ ਮਾਗੈ ਨਾਮ੝ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਸਾਰ੝ ॥੧॥
Nĝnak mĝgai nĝm parabẖ sĝr. ((1))
Nanak asks for the most sublime, the Naam, the Name of God. ((1))
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੀ ਦ੝ਰਿਸਟਿ ਮਹਾ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਹੋਇ ॥
Parabẖ kī ḝarisat mahĝ sukẖ ho▫e.
By God's Gracious Glance, there is great peace.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸ੝ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
Har ras pĝvai birlĝ ko▫e.
Rare are those who obtain the juice of the Lord's essence.
ਜਿਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥
Jin cẖĝkẖi▫ĝ se jan ṯaripṯĝne.
Those who taste it are satisfied.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਨਹੀ ਡੋਲਾਨੇ ॥
Pūran purakẖ nahī dolĝne.
They are fulfilled and realized beings - they do not waver.
ਸ੝ਭਰ ਭਰੇ ਪ੝ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
Subẖar bẖare parem ras rang.
They are totally filled to over-flowing with the sweet delight of His Love.
ਉਪਜੈ ਚਾਉ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Upjai cẖĝ▫o sĝḝẖ kai sang.
Spiritual delight wells up within, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਪਰੇ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਨ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥
Pare saran ĝn sabẖ ṯi▫ĝg.
Taking to His Sanctuary, they forsake all others.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੝ਰਗਾਸ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
Anṯar pargĝs an▫ḝin liv lĝg.
Deep within, they are enlightened, and they center themselves on Him, day and night.
ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਪਿਆ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਸੋਇ ॥
Badbẖĝgī japi▫ĝ parabẖ so▫e.
Most fortunate are those who meditate on God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Nĝnak nĝm raṯe sukẖ ho▫e. ((2))
O Nanak, attuned to the Naam, they are at peace. ((2))
ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਭਈ ॥
Sevak kī mansĝ pūrī bẖa▫ī.
The wishes of the Lord's servant are fulfilled.
ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਲਈ ॥
Saṯgur ṯe nirmal maṯ la▫ī.
From the True Guru, the pure teachings are obtained.
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਹੋਇਓ ਦਇਆਲ੝ ॥
Jan ka▫o parabẖ ho▫i▫o ḝa▫i▫ĝl.
Unto His humble servant, God has shown His kindness.
ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ੝ ॥
Sevak kīno saḝĝ nihĝl.
He has made His servant eternally happy.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮ੝ਕਤਿ ਜਨ੝ ਭਇਆ ॥
Banḝẖan kĝt mukaṯ jan bẖa▫i▫ĝ.
The bonds of His humble servant are cut away, and he is liberated.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੂਖ੝ ਭ੝ਰਮ੝ ਗਇਆ ॥
Janam maran ḝūkẖ bẖaram ga▫i▫ĝ.
The pains of birth and death, and doubt are gone.
ਇਛ ਪ੝ਨੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਸਭ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
Icẖẖ punī sarḝẖĝ sabẖ pūrī.
Desires are satisfied, and faith is fully rewarded,
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਜੂਰੀ ॥
Rav rahi▫ĝ saḝ sang hajūrī.
imbued forever with His all-pervading peace.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Jis kĝ sĝ ṯin lī▫ĝ milĝ▫e.
He is His - he merges in Union with Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
Nĝnak bẖagṯī nĝm samĝ▫e. ((3))
Nanak is absorbed in devotional worship of the Naam. ((3))
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਘਾਲ ਨ ਭਾਨੈ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jė gẖĝl na bẖĝnai.
Why forget Him, who does not overlook our efforts?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jė kī▫ĝ jĝnai.
Why forget Him, who acknowledges what we do?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭ੝ ਕਿਛ੝ ਦੀਆ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jin sabẖ kicẖẖ ḝī▫ĝ.
Why forget Him, who has given us everything?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਆ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jė jīvan jī▫ĝ.
Why forget Him, who is the Life of the living beings?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jė agan mėh rĝkẖai.
Why forget Him, who preserves us in the fire of the womb?
ਗ੝ਰ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Gur parsĝḝ ko birlĝ lĝkẖai.
By Guru's Grace, rare is the one who realizes this.
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਬਿਖ੝ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
So ki▫o bisrai jė bikẖ ṯe kĝdẖai.
Why forget Him, who lifts us up out of corruption?
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਟੂਟਾ ਗਾਢੈ ॥
Janam janam kĝ tūtĝ gĝdẖai.
Those separated from Him for countless lifetimes, are re-united with Him once again.
ਗ੝ਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਤ੝ ਇਹੈ ਬ੝ਝਾਇਆ ॥
Gur pūrai ṯaṯ ihai bujẖĝ▫i▫ĝ.
Through the Perfect Guru, this essential reality is understood.
ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥
Parabẖ apnĝ Nĝnak jan ḝẖi▫ĝ▫i▫ĝ. ((4))
O Nanak, God's humble servants meditate on Him. ((4))
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹ੝ ਇਹ੝ ਕਾਮ੝ ॥
Sĝjan sanṯ karahu ih kĝm.
O friends, O Saints, make this your work.
ਆਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਪਹ੝ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ॥
Ān ṯi▫ĝg japahu har nĝm.
Renounce everything else, and chant the Name of the Lord.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸ੝ਖ ਪਾਵਹ੝ ॥
Simar simar simar sukẖ pĝvhu.
Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.
ਆਪਿ ਜਪਹ੝ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮ੝ ਜਪਾਵਹ੝ ॥
Āp japahu avrah nĝm japĝvhu.
Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire others to chant it.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੀਝ ਸੰਸਾਰ੝ ॥
Bẖagaṯ bẖĝ▫e ṯarī▫ai sansĝr.
By loving devotional worship, you shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਬਿਨ੝ ਭਗਤੀ ਤਨ੝ ਹੋਸੀ ਛਾਰ੝ ॥
Bin bẖagṯī ṯan hosī cẖẖĝr.
Without devotional meditation, the body will be just ashes.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ॥
Sarab kali▫ĝṇ sūkẖ niḝẖ nĝm.
All joys and comforts are in the treasure of the Naam.
ਬੂਡਤ ਜਾਤ ਪਾਝ ਬਿਸ੝ਰਾਮ੝ ॥
Būdaṯ jĝṯ pĝ▫e bisrĝm.
Even the drowning can reach the place of rest and safety.
ਸਗਲ ਦੂਖ ਕਾ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਸ੝ ॥
Sagal ḝūkẖ kĝ hovaṯ nĝs.
All sorrows shall vanish.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ੝ ਜਪਹ੝ ਗ੝ਨਤਾਸ੝ ॥੫॥
Nĝnak nĝm japahu gunṯĝs. ((5))
O Nanak, chant the Naam, the treasure of excellence. ((5))
ਉਪਜੀ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੝ਰੇਮ ਰਸ੝ ਚਾਉ ॥
Upjī parīṯ parem ras cẖĝ▫o.
Love and affection, and the taste of yearning, have welled up within;
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਇਹੀ ਸ੝ਆਉ ॥
Man ṯan anṯar ihī su▫ĝ▫o.
within my mind and body, this is my purpose:
ਨੇਤ੝ਰਹ੝ ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸ੝ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਹੋਇ ॥
Neṯarahu pekẖ ḝaras sukẖ ho▫e.
beholding with my eyes His Blessed Vision, I am at peace.
ਮਨ੝ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸਾਧ ਚਰਨ ਧੋਇ ॥
Man bigsai sĝḝẖ cẖaran ḝẖo▫e.
My mind blossoms forth in ecstasy, washing the feet of the Holy.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੰਗ੝ ॥
Bẖagaṯ janĝ kai man ṯan rang.
The minds and bodies of His devotees are infused with His Love.
ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੰਗ੝ ॥
Birlĝ ko▫ū pĝvai sang.
Rare is the one who obtains their company.
ਝਕ ਬਸਤ੝ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥
Ėk basaṯ ḝījai kar ma▫i▫ĝ.
Show Your mercy - please, grant me this one request:
ਗ੝ਰ ਪ੝ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
Gur parsĝḝ nĝm jap la▫i▫ĝ.
by Guru's Grace, may I chant the Naam.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Ŧĝ kī upmĝ kahī na jĝ▫e.
His Praises cannot be spoken;
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੬॥
Nĝnak rahi▫ĝ sarab samĝ▫e. ((6))
O Nanak, He is contained among all. ((6))
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਬਖਸੰਦ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Parabẖ bakẖsanḝ ḝīn ḝa▫i▫ĝl.
God, the Forgiving Lord, is kind to the poor.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
Bẖagaṯ vacẖẖal saḝĝ kirpĝl.
He loves His devotees, and He is always merciful to them.
ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗ੝ਪਾਲ ॥
Anĝth nĝth gobinḝ gupĝl.
The Patron of the patronless, the Lord of the Universe, the Sustainer of the world,
ਸਰਬ ਘਟਾ ਕਰਤ ਪ੝ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
Sarab gẖatĝ karaṯ parṯipĝl.
the Nourisher of all beings.
ਆਦਿ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥
Āḝ purakẖ kĝraṇ karṯĝr.
The Primal Being, the Creator of the Creation.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਪ੝ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
Bẖagaṯ janĝ ke parĝn aḝẖĝr.
The Support of the breath of life of His devotees.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਸ੝ ਹੋਇ ਪ੝ਨੀਤ ॥
Jo jo japai so ho▫e punīṯ.
Whoever meditates on Him is sanctified,
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਵੈ ਮਨ ਹੀਤ ॥
Bẖagaṯ bẖĝ▫e lĝvai man hīṯ.
focusing the mind in loving devotional worship.
ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗ੝ਨੀਆਰ ਨੀਚ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
Ham nirgunī▫ĝr nīcẖ ajĝn.
I am unworthy, lowly and ignorant.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤ੝ਮਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੭॥
Nĝnak ṯumrī saran purakẖ bẖagvĝn. ((7))
Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, O Supreme Lord God. ((7))
ਸਰਬ ਬੈਕ੝ੰਠ ਮ੝ਕਤਿ ਮੋਖ ਪਾਝ ॥
Sarab baikunṯẖ mukaṯ mokẖ pĝ▫e.
Everything is obtained: the heavens, liberation and deliverance,
ਝਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗ੝ਨ ਗਾਝ ॥
Ėk nimakẖ har ke gun gĝ▫e.
if one sings the Lord's Glories, even for an instant.
ਅਨਿਕ ਰਾਜ ਭੋਗ ਬਡਿਆਈ ॥
Anik rĝj bẖog badi▫ĝ▫ī.
So many realms of power, pleasures and great glories,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
Har ke nĝm kī kathĝ man bẖĝ▫ī.
come to one whose mind is pleased with the Sermon of the Lord's Name.
ਬਹ੝ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਾਪਰ ਸੰਗੀਤ ॥
Baho bẖojan kĝpar sangīṯ.
Abundant foods, clothes and music
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
Rasnĝ japṯī har har nīṯ.
come to one whose tongue continually chants the Lord's Name, Har, Har.
ਭਲੀ ਸ੝ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਧਨਵੰਤ ॥
Bẖalī so karnī sobẖĝ ḝẖanvanṯ.
His actions are good, he is glorious and wealthy;
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਗ੝ਰ ਮੰਤ ॥
Hirḝai base pūran gur manṯ.
the Mantra of the Perfect Guru dwells within his heart.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਦੇਹ੝ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
Sĝḝẖsang parabẖ ḝeh nivĝs.
O God, grant me a home in the Company of the Holy.
ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੮॥੨੦॥
Sarab sūkẖ Nĝnak pargĝs. ((8)(20))
All pleasures, O Nanak, are so revealed. ((8)(20))
