Parabẖ ke sevak ka▫o ko na pahūcẖai.
|Ŧĝ kī gaṯ miṯ ko▫e na lĝkẖai.
No one is equal to the servant of God.
|No one knows His state and extent.}}


ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੇ ॥

Parabẖ ke sevak ūcẖ ṯe ūcẖe.

The servant of God is the highest of the high.
|No one is equal to the servant of God.}}


ਜੋ ਪ੝ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

Jo parabẖ apnī sevĝ lĝ▫i▫ĝ.

|The servant of God is the highest of the high.}}


ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪ੝ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥

He infuses His Power into the tiny ant;

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾਸ੝ ਨ ਕਾਢਤ ਆਪਿ ॥

Jis kĝ sĝs na kĝdẖaṯ ĝp.
|Bẖasam karai laskar kot lĝkẖai.
Those whose breath of life He Himself does not take away -

ਤਾ  ਕਉ  ਰਾਖਤ  ਦੇ  ਕਰਿ  ਹਾਥ  ॥

He preserves them, and holds out His Hands to protect them.

ਮਾਨਸ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਤਿ ॥

The jewel of the Naam is obtained by the Gurmukhs;

So jan sarab thok kĝ ḝĝṯĝ.
|Jin jan apnĝ parabẖū pacẖẖĝṯĝ.
are the givers of all things.
|Those humble beings who recognizes God}}

ਆਦਿ ਸਚ੝ ਜ੝ਗਾਦਿ ਸਚ੝ ॥
Āḝ sacẖ jugĝḝ sacẖ.
True in the beginning, True throughout the ages,
ਹੈ ਭਿ ਸਚ੝ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੋਸੀ ਭਿ ਸਚ੝ ॥੧॥
Hai bẖė sacẖ Nĝnak hosī bẖė sacẖ. ((1))
True here and now. O Nanak, He shall forever be True. ((1))

ਚਰਨ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪਰਸਨਹਾਰ ॥
Cẖaran saṯ saṯ parsanhĝr.
His Lotus Feet are True, and True are those who touch Them.
ਪੂਜਾ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸੇਵਦਾਰ ॥
Pūjĝ saṯ saṯ sevḝĝr.
His devotional worship is True, and True are those who worship Him.
ਦਰਸਨ੝ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪੇਖਨਹਾਰ ॥
Ḏarsan saṯ saṯ pekẖanhĝr.
The Blessing of His Vision is True, and True are those who behold it.
ਨਾਮ੝ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਨਹਾਰ ॥
Nĝm saṯ saṯ ḝẖi▫ĝvanhĝr.
His Naam is True, and True are those who meditate on it.
ਆਪਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Āp saṯ saṯ sabẖ ḝẖĝrī.
He Himself is True, and True is all that He sustains.
ਆਪੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਆਪੇ ਗ੝ਣਕਾਰੀ ॥
Āpe guṇ ĝpe guṇkĝrī.
He Himself is virtuous goodness, and He Himself is the Bestower of virtue.
ਸਬਦ੝ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਬਕਤਾ ॥
Sabaḝ saṯ saṯ parabẖ bakṯĝ.
The Word of His Shabad is True, and True are those who speak of God.
ਸ੝ਰਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਜਸ੝ ਸ੝ਨਤਾ ॥
Suraṯ saṯ saṯ jas sunṯĝ.
Those ears are True, and True are those who listen to His Praises.
ਬ੝ਝਨਹਾਰ ਕਉ ਸਤਿ ਸਭ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bujẖanhĝr ka▫o saṯ sabẖ ho▫e.
All is True to one who understands.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
Nĝnak saṯ saṯ parabẖ so▫e. ((1))
O Nanak, True, True is He, the Lord God. ((1))
ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪ੝ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
Saṯ sarūp riḝai jin mĝni▫ĝ.
One who believes in the Embodiment of Truth with all his heart
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਤਿਨਿ ਮੂਲ੝ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥
Karan karĝvan ṯin mūl pacẖẖĝni▫ĝ.
recognizes the Cause of causes as the Root of all.
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਸ੝ਵਾਸ੝ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਆਇਆ ॥
Jĝ kai riḝai bisvĝs parabẖ ĝ▫i▫ĝ.
One whose heart is filled with faith in God -
ਤਤ੝ ਗਿਆਨ੝ ਤਿਸ੝ ਮਨਿ ਪ੝ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥
Ŧaṯ gi▫ĝn ṯis man paragtĝ▫i▫ĝ.
the essence of spiritual wisdom is revealed to his mind.
ਭੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸਾਨਾ ॥
Bẖai ṯe nirbẖa▫o ho▫e basĝnĝ.
Coming out of fear, he comes to live without fear.
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਤਿਸ੝ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
Jis ṯe upji▫ĝ ṯis mĝhi samĝnĝ.
He is absorbed into the One, from whom he originated.
ਬਸਤ੝ ਮਾਹਿ ਲੇ ਬਸਤ੝ ਗਡਾਈ ॥
Basaṯ mĝhi le basaṯ gadĝ▫ī.
When something blends with its own,
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਭਿੰਨ ਨ ਕਹਨਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
Ŧĝ ka▫o bẖinn na kahnĝ jĝ▫ī.
it cannot be said to be separate from it.
ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਨਹਾਰ੝ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
Būjẖai būjẖanhĝr bibek.
This is understood only by one of discerning understanding.
ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਝਕ ॥੨॥
Nĝrĝ▫in mile Nĝnak ek. ((2))
Meeting with the Lord, O Nanak, he becomes one with Him. ((2))
ਠਾਕ੝ਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ॥
Ŧẖĝkur kĝ sevak ĝgi▫ĝkĝrī.
The servant is obedient to his Lord and Master.
ਠਾਕ੝ਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਸਦਾ ਪੂਜਾਰੀ ॥
Ŧẖĝkur kĝ sevak saḝĝ pūjĝrī.
The servant worships his Lord and Master forever.
ਠਾਕ੝ਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
Ŧẖĝkur ke sevak kai man parṯīṯ.
The servant of the Lord Master has faith in his mind.
ਠਾਕ੝ਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
Ŧẖĝkur ke sevak kī nirmal rīṯ.
The servant of the Lord Master lives a pure lifestyle.
ਠਾਕ੝ਰ ਕਉ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਜਾਨੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Ŧẖĝkur ka▫o sevak jĝnai sang.
The servant of the Lord Master knows that the Lord is with him.
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਨਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
Parabẖ kĝ sevak nĝm kai rang.
God's servant is attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਪਾਲਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
Sevak ka▫o parabẖ pĝlanhĝrĝ.
God is the Cherisher of His servant.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Sevak kī rĝkẖai nirankĝrĝ.
The Formless Lord preserves His servant.
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਜਿਸ੝ ਦਇਆ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
So sevak jis ḝa▫i▫ĝ parabẖ ḝẖĝrai.
Unto His servant, God bestows His Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
Nĝnak so sevak sĝs sĝs samĝrai. ((3))
O Nanak, that servant remembers Him with each and every breath. ((3))
ਅਪ੝ਨੇ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢਾਕੈ ॥
Apune jan kĝ parḝĝ dẖĝkai.
He covers the faults of His servant.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਪਰ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Apne sevak kī sarpar rĝkẖai.
He surely preserves the honor of His servant.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
Apne ḝĝs ka▫o ḝe▫e vadĝ▫ī.
He blesses His slave with greatness.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ੝ ਜਪਾਈ ॥
Apne sevak ka▫o nĝm japĝ▫ī.
He inspires His servant to chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Apne sevak kī ĝp paṯ rĝkẖai.
He Himself preserves the honor of His servant.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Ŧĝ kī gaṯ miṯ ko▫e na lĝkẖai.
No one knows His state and extent.
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਕੋ ਨ ਪਹੂਚੈ ॥
Parabẖ ke sevak ka▫o ko na pahūcẖai.
No one is equal to the servant of God.
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੇ ॥
Parabẖ ke sevak ūcẖ ṯe ūcẖe.
The servant of God is the highest of the high.
ਜੋ ਪ੝ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Jo parabẖ apnī sevĝ lĝ▫i▫ĝ.
One whom God applies to His own service, O Nanak -
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪ੝ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Nĝnak so sevak ḝah ḝis paragtĝ▫i▫ĝ. ((4))
that servant is famous in the ten directions. ((4))
ਨੀਕੀ ਕੀਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਕਲ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Nīkī kīrī mėh kal rĝkẖai.
He infuses His Power into the tiny ant;
ਭਸਮ ਕਰੈ ਲਸਕਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Bẖasam karai laskar kot lĝkẖai.
it can then reduce the armies of millions to ashes
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾਸ੝ ਨ ਕਾਢਤ ਆਪਿ ॥
Jis kĝ sĝs na kĝdẖaṯ ĝp.
Those whose breath of life He Himself does not take away -
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਤ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ॥
Ŧĝ ka▫o rĝkẖaṯ ḝe kar hĝth.
He preserves them, and holds out His Hands to protect them.
ਮਾਨਸ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਹ੝ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
Mĝnas jaṯan karaṯ baho bẖĝṯ.
You may make all sorts of efforts,
ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
Ŧis ke karṯab birthe jĝṯ.
but these attempts are in vain.
ਮਾਰੈ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਵਰ੝ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Mĝrai na rĝkẖai avar na ko▫e.
No one else can kill or preserve -
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sarab jī▫ĝ kĝ rĝkẖĝ so▫e.
He is the Protector of all beings.
ਕਾਹੇ ਸੋਚ ਕਰਹਿ ਰੇ ਪ੝ਰਾਣੀ ॥
Kĝhe socẖ karahi re parĝṇī.
So why are you so anxious, O mortal?
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਅਲਖ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥੫॥
Jap Nĝnak parabẖ alakẖ vidĝṇī. ((5))
Meditate, O Nanak, on God, the invisible, the wonderful! ((5))
ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਜਪੀਝ ॥
Bĝraʼn bĝr bĝr parabẖ japī▫ai.
Time after time, again and again, meditate on God.
ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ੝ ਇਹ੝ ਮਨ੝ ਤਨ੝ ਧ੝ਰਪੀਝ ॥
Pī amriṯ ih man ṯan ḝẖarpī▫ai.
Drinking in this Nectar, this mind and body are satisfied.
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨ੝ ਜਿਨਿ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Nĝm raṯan jin gurmukẖ pĝ▫i▫ĝ.
The jewel of the Naam is obtained by the Gurmukhs;
ਤਿਸ੝ ਕਿਛ੝ ਅਵਰ੝ ਨਾਹੀ ਦ੝ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
Ŧis kicẖẖ avar nĝhī ḝaristĝ▫i▫ĝ.
they see no other than God.
ਨਾਮ੝ ਧਨ੝ ਨਾਮੋ ਰੂਪ੝ ਰੰਗ੝ ॥
Nĝm ḝẖan nĝmo rūp rang.
Unto them, the Naam is wealth, the Naam is beauty and delight.
ਨਾਮੋ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਸੰਗ੝ ॥
Nĝmo sukẖ har nĝm kĝ sang.
The Naam is peace, the Lord's Name is their companion.
ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਤ੝ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥
Nĝm ras jo jan ṯaripṯĝne.
Those who are satisfied by the essence of the Naam -
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥
Man ṯan nĝmėh nĝm samĝne.
their minds and bodies are drenched with the Naam.
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਨਾਮ ॥
Ūṯẖaṯ baiṯẖaṯ sovaṯ nĝm.
While standing up, sitting down and sleeping, the Naam,
ਕਹ੝ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕਾਮ ॥੬॥
Kaho Nĝnak jan kai saḝ kĝm. ((6))
says Nanak, is forever the occupation of God's humble servant. ((6))
ਬੋਲਹ੝ ਜਸ੝ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਦਿਨ੝ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
Bolhu jas jihbĝ ḝin rĝṯ.
Chant His Praises with your tongue, day and night.
ਪ੝ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
Parabẖ apnai jan kīnī ḝĝṯ.
God Himself has given this gift to His servants.
ਕਰਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਤਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਇ ॥
Karahi bẖagaṯ ĝṯam kai cẖĝ▫e.
Performing devotional worship with heart-felt love,
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Parabẖ apne si▫o rahėh samĝ▫e.
they remain absorbed in God Himself.
ਜੋ ਹੋਆ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Jo ho▫ĝ hovaṯ so jĝnai.
They know the past and the present.
ਪ੝ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਹ੝ਕਮ੝ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
Parabẖ apne kĝ hukam pacẖẖĝnai.
They recognize God's Own Command.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਉਨ ਬਖਾਨਉ ॥
Ŧis kī mahimĝ ka▫un bakẖĝna▫o.
Who can describe His Glory?
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗ੝ਨ੝ ਕਹਿ ਝਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ॥
Ŧis kĝ gun kahi ek na jĝn▫o.
I cannot describe even one of His virtuous qualities.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥
Āṯẖ pahar parabẖ basėh hajūre.
Those who dwell in God's Presence, twenty-four hours a day -
ਕਹ੝ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
Kaho Nĝnak se▫ī jan pūre. ((7))
says Nanak, they are the perfect persons. ((7))
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
Man mere ṯin kī ot lehi.
O my mind, seek their protection;
ਮਨ੝ ਤਨ੝ ਅਪਨਾ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
Man ṯan apnĝ ṯin jan ḝėh.
give your mind and body to those humble beings.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
Jin jan apnĝ parabẖū pacẖẖĝṯĝ.
Those humble beings who recognizes God
ਸੋ ਜਨ੝ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
So jan sarab thok kĝ ḝĝṯĝ.
are the givers of all things.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਸ੝ਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
Ŧis kī saran sarab sukẖ pĝvahi.
In His Sanctuary, all comforts are obtained.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਵਹਿ ॥
Ŧis kai ḝaras sabẖ pĝp mitĝvėh.
By the Blessing of His Darshan, all sins are erased.
ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਛਾਡ੝ ॥
Avar si▫ĝnap saglī cẖẖĝd.
So renounce all other clever devices,
ਤਿਸ੝ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗ੝ ॥
Ŧis jan kī ṯū sevĝ lĝg.
and enjoin yourself to the service of those servants.
ਆਵਨ੝ ਜਾਨ੝ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
Āvan jĝn na hovī ṯerĝ.
Your comings and goings shall be ended.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ੝ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਹ੝ ਸਦ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੮॥੧੭॥
Nĝnak ṯis jan ke pūjahu saḝ pairĝ. ((8)(17))
O Nanak, worship the feet of God's humble servants forever. ((8)(17))
