| ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪਰਭ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨਨਹਾਰ ॥

| Sarab kalĝ bẖarpūr parabẖ birthĝ jĝnanhĝr.
|
| God is totally imbued with all powers; He is the Knower of our troubles.
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਉਧਰੀਝ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੧॥
|
| Jĝ kai simran uḝẖrī▫ai Nĝnak ṯis balihĝr. ((1))
|
| Meditating in remembrance on Him, we are saved; Nanak is a sacrifice to Him. ((1))

| ਟੂਟੀ ਗਾਢਨਹਾਰ ਗਪਾਲ ॥
|
| Tūtī gĝdẖanhĝr gopĝl.
|
| The Lord of the World is the Mender of the broken.
|
| ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
|
| Sarab jī▫ĝ ĝpe parṯipĝl.
|
| He Himself cherishes all beings.
|
| ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Sagal kī cẖinṯĝ jis man mĝhi.
|
| The cares of all are on His Mind;
|
| ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Ŧis ṯe birthĝ ko▫ī nĝhi.
|
| no one is turned away from Him.
|
| ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
|
| Re man mere saḝĝ har jĝp.
|
| O my mind, meditate forever on the Lord.
|
| ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਪਰਭ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥
|
| Abẖinĝsī parabẖ ĝpe ĝp.
|
| The Imperishable Lord God is Himself All-in-all.
|
| ਆਪਨ ਕੀਆ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
|
| Āpan kī▫ĝ kacẖẖū na ho▫e.
|
| By one's own actions, nothing is accomplished,
|
| ਜੇ ਸਉ ਪਰਾਨੀ ਲੋਚੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
|
| Je sa▫o parĝnī locẖai ko▫e.
|
| even though the mortal may wish it so, hundreds of times.
|
| ਤਿਸ ਬਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਛ ਕਾਮ ॥
|
| Ŧis bin nĝhī ṯerai kicẖẖ kĝm.
|
| Without Him, nothing is of any use to you.
|
| ਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਪਿ ਝਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥
|
| Gaṯ Nĝnak jap ek har nĝm. ((1))
|
| Salvation, O Nanak, is attained by chanting the Name of the One Lord. ((1))
|
| ਰੂਪਵੰਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੋਹੈ ॥
|
| Rūpvanṯ ho▫e nĝhī mohai.
|
| One who is good-looking should not be vain;
|
| ਪਰਭ ਕੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਘਟ ਸੋਹੈ ॥
|
| Parabẖ kī joṯ sagal gẖat sohai.
|
| the Light of God is in all hearts.
|
| ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਹੋਇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਗਰਬੈ ॥
|
| Ḏẖanvanṯĝ ho▫e ki▫ĝ ko garbai.
|
| Why should anyone be proud of being rich?
|
| ਜਾ ਸਭ ਕਿਛ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੀਆ ਦਰਬੈ ॥
|
| Jĝ sabẖ kicẖẖ ṯis kĝ ḝī▫ĝ ḝarbai.
|
| All riches are His gifts.
|
| ਅਤਿ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੇ ਕੋਊ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Aṯ sūrĝ je ko▫ū kahĝvai.
|
| One may call himself a great hero,
|
| ਪਰਭ ਕੀ ਕਲਾ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Parabẖ kī kalĝ binĝ kah ḝẖĝvai.
|
| but without God's Power, what can anyone do?
|
| ਜੇ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ਬਹੈ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥
|
| Je ko ho▫e bahai ḝĝṯĝr.
|
| One who brags about giving to charities -
|
| ਤਿਸ ਦੇਨਹਾਰ ਜਾਨੈ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
|
| Ŧis ḝenhĝr jĝnai gĝvĝr.
|
| the Great Giver shall judge him to be a fool.
|
| ਜਿਸ ਗਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਤੂਟੈ ਹਉ ਰੋਗ ॥
|
| Jis gur parsĝḝ ṯūtai ha▫o rog.
|
| One who, by Guru's Grace, is cured of the disease of ego -
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਅਰੋਗ ॥੨॥
|
| Nĝnak so jan saḝĝ arog. ((2))
|
| O Nanak, that person is forever healthy. ((2))
|
| ਜਿਉ ਮੰਦਰ ਕਉ ਥਾਮੈ ਥੰਮਨ ॥
|
| Ji▫o manḝar ka▫o thĝmai thamman.
|
| As a palace is supported by its pillars,
|
| ਤਿਉ ਗਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦ ਮਨਹਿ ਅਸਥੰਮਨ ॥
|
| Ŧi▫o gur kĝ sabaḝ manėh asthamman.
|
| so does the Guru's Word support the mind.
|
| ਜਿਉ ਪਾਖਾਣ ਨਾਵ ਚੜਿ ਤਰੈ ॥
|
| Ji▫o pĝkẖĝṇ nĝv cẖaṛ ṯarai.
|
| As a stone placed in a boat can cross over the river,
|
| ਪਰਾਣੀ ਗਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਗਤ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥
|
| Parĝṇī gur cẖaraṇ lagaṯ nisṯarai.
|
| so is the mortal saved, grasping hold of the Guru's Feet.
|
| ਜਿਉ ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥
|
| Ji▫o anḝẖkĝr ḝīpak pargĝs.
|
| As the darkness is illuminated by the lamp,
|
| ਗਰ ਦਰਸਨ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਗਾਸ ॥
|
| Gur ḝarsan ḝekẖ man ho▫e bigĝs.
|
| so does the mind blossom forth, beholding the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan.
|
| ਜਿਉ ਮਹਾ ਉਦਿਆਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਰਗ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Ji▫o mahĝ uḝi▫ĝn mėh mĝrag pĝvai.
|
| The path is found through the great wilderness,
|
| ਤਿਉ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥
|
| Ŧi▫o sĝḝẖū sang mil joṯ paragtĝvai.
|
| by joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and one's light shines forth.
|
| ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
|
| Ŧin sanṯan kī bĝcẖẖa▫o ḝẖūr.
|
| I seek the dust of the feet of those Saints;
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
|
| Nĝnak kī har locẖĝ pūr. ((3))
|
| O Lord, fulfill Nanak's longing! ((3))
|
| ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਾਹੇ ਬਿਲਲਾਈਝ ॥
|
| Man mūrakẖ kĝhe billĝ▫ī▫ai.
|
| O foolish mind, why do you cry and bewail?
|
| ਪਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਈਝ ॥
|
| Purab likẖe kĝ likẖi▫ĝ pĝ▫ī▫ai.
|
| You shall obtain your pre-ordained destiny.
|
| ਦੂਖ ਸੂਖ ਪਰਭ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ ॥
|
| Ḏūkẖ sūkẖ parabẖ ḝevanhĝr.
|
| God is the Giver of pain and pleasure.
|
| ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਤੂ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਚਿਤਾਰ ॥
|
| Avar ṯi▫ĝg ṯū ṯisėh cẖiṯĝr.
|
| Abandon others, and think of Him alone.
|
| ਜੋ ਕਛ ਕਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਸਖ ਮਾਨ ॥
|
| Jo kacẖẖ karai so▫ī sukẖ mĝn.
|
| Whatever He does - take comfort in that.
|
| ਭੂਲਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
|
| Bẖūlĝ kĝhe firėh ajĝn.
|
| Why do you wander around, you ignorant fool?
|
| ਕਉਨ ਬਸਤ ਆਈ ਤੇਰੈ ਸੰਗ ॥
|
| Ka▫un basaṯ ĝ▫ī ṯerai sang.
|
| What things did you bring with you?
|
| ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਰਸਿ ਲੋਭੀ ਪਤੰਗ ॥
|
| Lapat rahi▫o ras lobẖī paṯang.
|
| You cling to worldly pleasures like a greedy moth.
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Rĝm nĝm jap hirḝe mĝhi.
|
| Dwell upon the Lord's Name in your heart.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੪॥
|
| Nĝnak paṯ seṯī gẖar jĝhi. ((4))
|
| O Nanak, thus you shall return to your home with honor. ((4))
|
| ਜਿਸ ਵਖਰ ਕਉ ਲੈਨਿ ਤੂ ਆਇਆ ॥
|
| Jis vakẖar ka▫o lain ṯū ĝ▫i▫ĝ.
|
| This merchandise, which you have come to obtain,
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਤਨ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
|
| Rĝm nĝm sanṯan gẖar pĝ▫i▫ĝ.
|
| the Lord's Name is obtained in the home of the Saints.
|
| ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਲੇਹ ਮਨ ਮੋਲਿ ॥
|
| Ŧaj abẖimĝn leho man mol.
|
| Renounce your egotistical pride, and with your mind,
|
| ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਤੋਲਿ ॥
|
| Rĝm nĝm hirḝe mėh ṯol.
|
| purchase the Lord's Name - measure it out within your heart.
|
| ਲਾਦਿ ਖੇਪ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲ ॥
|
| Lĝḝ kẖep sanṯėh sang cẖĝl.
|
| Load up this merchandise, and set out with the Saints.
|
| ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
|
| Avar ṯi▫ĝg bikẖi▫ĝ janjĝl.
|
| Give up other corrupt entanglements.
|
| ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਕਹੈ ਸਭ ਕੋਇ ॥
|
| Ḏẖan ḝẖan kahai sabẖ ko▫e.
|
| Blessed, blessed, everyone will call you,
|
| ਮਖ ਊਜਲ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੋਇ ॥
|
| Mukẖ ūjal har ḝargėh so▫e.
|
| and your face shall be radiant in the Court of the Lord.
|
| ਇਹ ਵਾਪਾਰ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੈ ॥
|
| Ih vĝpĝr virlĝ vĝpĝrai.
|
| In this trade, only a few are trading.
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥੫॥
|
| Nĝnak ṯĝ kai saḝ balihĝrai. ((5))
|
| Nanak is forever a sacrifice to them. ((5))
|
| ਚਰਨ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਧੋਇ ਧੋਇ ਪੀਉ ॥
|
| Cẖaran sĝḝẖ ke ḝẖo▫e ḝẖo▫e pī▫o.
|
| Wash the feet of the Holy, and drink in this water.
|
| ਅਰਪਿ ਸਾਧ ਕਉ ਅਪਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥
|
| Arap sĝḝẖ ka▫o apnĝ jī▫o.
|
| Dedicate your soul to the Holy.
|
| ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਹ ਇਸਨਾਨ ॥
|
| Sĝḝẖ kī ḝẖūr karahu isnĝn.
|
| Take your cleansing bath in the dust of the feet of the Holy.
|
| ਸਾਧ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਾਈਝ ਕਰਬਾਨ ॥
|
| Sĝḝẖ ūpar jĝ▫ī▫ai kurbĝn.
|
| To the Holy, make your life a sacrifice.
|
| ਸਾਧ ਸੇਵਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਝ ॥
|
| Sĝḝẖ sevĝ vadbẖĝgī pĝ▫ī▫ai.
|
| Service to the Holy is obtained by great good fortune.
|
| ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਗਾਈਝ ॥
|
| Sĝḝẖsang har kīrṯan gĝ▫ī▫ai.
|
| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is sung.
|
| ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਘਨ ਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
|
| Anik bigẖan ṯe sĝḝẖū rĝkẖai.
|
| From all sorts of dangers, the Saint saves us.
|
| ਹਰਿ ਗਨ ਗਾਇ ਅੰਮਰਿਤ ਰਸ ਚਾਖੈ ॥
|
| Har gun gĝ▫e amriṯ ras cẖĝkẖai.
|
| Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, we taste the ambrosial essence.
|
| ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਦਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
|
| Ot gahī sanṯėh ḝar ĝ▫i▫ĝ.
|
| Seeking the Protection of the Saints, we have come to their door.
|
| ਸਰਬ ਸੂਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
|
| Sarab sūkẖ Nĝnak ṯih pĝ▫i▫ĝ. ((6))
|
| All comforts, O Nanak, are so obtained. ((6))
|
| ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਜੀਵਾਲਨਹਾਰ ॥
|
| Mirṯak ka▫o jīvĝlanhĝr.
|
| He infuses life back into the dead.
|
| ਭੂਖੇ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਤ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
|
| Bẖūkẖe ka▫o ḝevaṯ aḝẖĝr.
|
| He gives food to the hungry.
|
| ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦਰਿਸਟੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Sarab niḝẖĝn jĝ kī ḝaristī mĝhi.
|
| All treasures are within His Glance of Grace.
|
| ਪਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਕਾ ਲਹਣਾ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
|
| Purab likẖe kĝ lahṇĝ pĝhi.
|
| People obtain that which they are pre-ordained to receive.
|
| ਸਭ ਕਿਛ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਓਹ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗ ॥
|
| Sabẖ kicẖẖ ṯis kĝ oh karnai jog.
|
| All things are His; He is the Doer of all.
|
| ਤਿਸ ਬਿਨ ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਆ ਨ ਹੋਗ ॥
|
| Ŧis bin ḝūsar ho▫ĝ na hog.
|
| Other than Him, there has never been any other, and there shall never be.
|
| ਜਪਿ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰੈਣੀ ॥
|
| Jap jan saḝĝ saḝĝ ḝin raiṇī.
|
| Meditate on Him forever and ever, day and night.
|
| ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਇਹ ਕਰਣੀ ॥
|
| Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ nirmal ih karṇī.
|
| This way of life is exalted and immaculate.
|
| ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ ਦੀਆ ॥
|
| Kar kirpĝ jis ka▫o nĝm ḝī▫ĝ.
|
| One whom the Lord, in His Grace, blesses with His Name -
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਥੀਆ ॥੭॥
|
| Nĝnak so jan nirmal thī▫ĝ. ((7))
|
| O Nanak, that person becomes immaculate and pure. ((7))
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਗਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
|
| Jĝ kai man gur kī parṯīṯ.
|
| One who has faith in the Guru in his mind
|
| ਤਿਸ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਭ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
|
| Ŧis jan ĝvai har parabẖ cẖīṯ.
|
| comes to dwell upon the Lord God.
|
| ਭਗਤ ਭਗਤ ਸਨੀਝ ਤਿਹ ਲੋਇ ॥
|
| Bẖagaṯ bẖagaṯ sunī▫ai ṯihu lo▫e.
|
| He is acclaimed as a devotee, a humble devotee throughout the three worlds.
|
| ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਝਕੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
|
| Jĝ kai hirḝai eko ho▫e.
|
| The One Lord is in his heart.
|
| ਸਚ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਚ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਰਹਤ ॥
|
| Sacẖ karṇī sacẖ ṯĝ kī rahaṯ.
|
| True are his actions; true are his ways.
|
| ਸਚ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਤਿ ਮਖਿ ਕਹਤ ॥
|
| Sacẖ hirḝai saṯ mukẖ kahaṯ.
|
| True is his heart; Truth is what he speaks with his mouth.
|
| ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਕਾਰ ॥
|
| Sĝcẖī ḝarisat sĝcẖĝ ĝkĝr.
|
| True is his vision; true is his form.
|
| ਸਚ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਪਾਸਾਰ ॥
|
| Sacẖ varṯai sĝcẖĝ pĝsĝr.
|
| He distributes Truth and he spreads Truth.
|
| ਪਾਰਬਰਹਮ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਚ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
|
| Pĝrbarahm jin sacẖ kar jĝṯĝ.
|
| One who recognizes the Supreme Lord God as True -
|
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ॥੮॥੧੫॥
|
| Nĝnak so jan sacẖ samĝṯĝ. ((8)(15))
|
| O Nanak, that humble being is absorbed into the True One. ((8)(15))
