One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਆਦਿ ਗ੝ਰਝ ਨਮਹ ॥ ਜ੝ਗਾਦਿ ਗ੝ਰਝ ਨਮਹ ॥

Āḝ gur­ė namah. Jugĝḝ gur­ė namah.

I bow to the Primal Guru. I bow to the Guru of the ages.

ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰਝ ਨਮਹ ॥ ਸ੝ਰੀ ਗ੝ਰਦੇਵਝ ਨਮਹ ॥੧॥

Saṯgur­ė namah. Sarī gurḝėv­ė namah. ॥1॥

I bow to the True Guru. I bow to the Great, Divine Guru. ((1))

ਸਿਮਰਉ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਪਾਵਉ ॥

Simra­o simar simar sukẖ pĝva­o.

Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.

ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਮਿਟਾਵਉ ॥

Kal kalės ṯan mĝhi mitĝva­o.

Worry and anguish shall be dispelled from your body.

ਸਿਮਰਉ ਜਾਸ੝ ਬਿਸ੝ੰਭਰ ਝਕੈ ॥

Simra­o jĝs bisumbẖar ėkai.

Remember in praise the One who pervades the whole Universe.

ਨਾਮ੝ ਜਪਤ ਅਗਨਤ ਅਨੇਕੈ ॥

Nĝm japaṯ agnaṯ anėkai.

His Name is chanted by countless people, in so many ways.

ਬੇਦ ਪ੝ਰਾਨ ਸਿੰਮ੝ਰਿਤਿ ਸ੝ਧਾਖ੝ਯ੝ਯਰ ॥

Bėḝ purĝn simriṯ suḝẖĝkẖ­yar.

The Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, the purest of utterances,

ਕੀਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਇਕ ਆਖ੝ਯ੝ਯਰ ॥

Kīnė rĝm nĝm ik ĝkẖ­yar.

were created from the One Word of the Name of the Lord.

ਕਿਨਕਾ ਝਕ ਜਿਸ੝ ਜੀਅ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥

Kinkĝ ėk jis jī­a basĝvai.

That one, in whose soul the One Lord dwells -

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਗਨੀ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

Ŧĝ kī mahimĝ ganī na ĝvai.

the praises of his glory cannot be recounted.

ਕਾਂਖੀ ਝਕੈ ਦਰਸ ਤ੝ਹਾਰੋ ॥

Kĝʼnkẖī ėkai ḝaras ṯuhĝro.

Those who yearn only for the blessing of Your Darshan -

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੋ ॥੧॥

Nĝnak un sang mohi uḝẖĝro. ((1))

Nanak: save me along with them! ((1))

ਸ੝ਖਮਨੀ ਸ੝ਖ ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਨਾਮ੝ ॥

Sukẖmanī sukẖ amriṯ parabẖ nĝm.

Sukhmani: Peace of Mind, the Nectar of the Name of God.

ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੝ਰਾਮ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Bẖagaṯ janĝ kai man bisrĝm. Rahĝ­o.

The minds of the devotees abide in a joyful peace. ((Pause))

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਬਸੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran garabẖ na basai.

Remembering God, one does not have to enter into the womb again.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੂਖ੝ ਜਮ੝ ਨਸੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ḝūkẖ jam nasai.

Remembering God, the pain of death is dispelled.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਲ੝ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran kĝl parharai.

Remembering God, death is eliminated.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦ੝ਸਮਨ੝ ਟਰੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ḝusman tarai.

Remembering God, one's enemies are repelled.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਛ੝ ਬਿਘਨ੝ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥

Parabẖ simraṯ kacẖẖ bigẖan na lĝgai.

Remembering God, no obstacles are met.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਜਾਗੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran an­ḝin jĝgai.

Remembering God, one remains awake and aware, night and day.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਉ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran bẖa­o na bi­ĝpai.

Remembering God, one is not touched by fear.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦ੝ਖ੝ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ḝukẖ na sanṯĝpai.

Remembering God, one does not suffer sorrow.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ੝ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥

Parabẖ kĝ simran sĝḝẖ kai sang.

The meditative remembrance of God is in the Company of the Holy.

ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥

Sarab niḝẖĝn Nĝnak har rang. ((2))

All treasures, O Nanak, are in the Love of the Lord. ((2))

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran riḝẖ siḝẖ na­o niḝẖ.

In the remembrance of God are wealth, miraculous spiritual powers and the nine treasures.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਿਆਨ੝ ਧਿਆਨ੝ ਤਤ੝ ਬ੝ਧਿ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran gi­ĝn ḝẖi­ĝn ṯaṯ buḝẖ.

In the remembrance of God are knowledge, meditation and the essence of wisdom.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਜਪ ਤਪ ਪੂਜਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran jap ṯap pūjĝ.

In the remembrance of God are chanting, intense meditation and devotional worship.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran binsai ḝūjĝ.

In the remembrance of God, duality is removed.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਇਸਨਾਨੀ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ṯirath isnĝnī.

In the remembrance of God are purifying baths at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੀ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ḝargeh mĝnī.

In the remembrance of God, one attains honor in the Court of the Lord.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਸ੝ ਭਲਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ho­ė so bẖalĝ.

In the remembrance of God, one becomes good.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸ੝ਫਲ ਫਲਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran sufal falĝ.

In the remembrance of God, one flowers in fruition.

ਸੇ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਸਿਮਰਾਝ ॥

Sė simrahi jin ĝp simrĝ­ė.

They alone remember Him in meditation, whom He inspires to meditate.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਝ ॥੩॥

Nĝnak ṯĝ kai lĝga­o pĝ­ė. ((3))

Nanak grasps the feet of those humble beings. ((3))

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ੝ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥

Parabẖ kĝ simran sabẖ ṯė ūcẖĝ.

The remembrance of God is the highest and most exalted of all.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਮੂਚਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran uḝẖrė mūcẖĝ.

In the remembrance of God, many are saved.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤ੝ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬ੝ਝੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran ṯarisnĝ bujẖai.

In the remembrance of God, thirst is quenched.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸਭ੝ ਕਿਛ੝ ਸ੝ਝੈ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran sabẖ kicẖẖ sujẖai.

In the remembrance of God, all things are known.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਮ ਤ੝ਰਾਸਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran nĝhī jam ṯarĝsĝ.

In the remembrance of God, there is no fear of death.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran pūran ĝsĝ.

In the remembrance of God, hopes are fulfilled.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਮਲ੝ ਜਾਇ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran man kī mal jĝ­ė.

In the remembrance of God, the filth of the mind is removed.

ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮ੝ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

Amriṯ nĝm riḝ mĝhi samĝ­ė.

The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, is absorbed into the heart.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਜੀ ਬਸਹਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਰਸਨਾ ॥

Parabẖ jī baseh sĝḝẖ kī rasnĝ.

God abides upon the tongues of His Saints.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਸਨਾ ॥੪॥

Nĝnak jan kĝ ḝĝsan ḝasnĝ. ((4))

Nanak is the servant of the slave of His slaves. ((4))

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė ḝẖanvanṯė.

Those who remember God are wealthy.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਪਤਿਵੰਤੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė paṯivanṯė.

Those who remember God are honorable.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė jan parvĝn.

Those who remember God are approved.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਪ੝ਰਧਾਨ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė purakẖ parḝẖĝn.

Those who remember God are the most distinguished persons.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਬੇਮ੝ਹਤਾਜੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi se bėmuhṯĝjė.

Those who remember God are not lacking.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਿ ਸਰਬ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi se sarab kė rĝjė.

Those who remember God are the rulers of all.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਸ੝ਖਵਾਸੀ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė sukẖvĝsī.

Those who remember God dwell in peace.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi saḝĝ abẖinĝsī.

Those who remember God are immortal and eternal.

ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਲਾਗੇ ਜਿਨ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

Simran ṯė lĝgė jin ĝp ḝa­i­ĝlĝ.

They alone hold to the remembrance of Him, unto whom He Himself shows His Mercy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਮੰਗੈ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੫॥

Nĝnak jan kī mangai ravĝlĝ. ((5))

Nanak begs for the dust of their feet. ((5))

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė par­upkĝrī.

Those who remember God generously help others.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi ṯin saḝ balihĝrī.

Those who remember God - to them, I am forever a sacrifice.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਮ੝ਖ ਸ੝ਹਾਵੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi sė mukẖ suhĝvė.

Those who remember God - their faces are beautiful.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸੂਖਿ ਬਿਹਾਵੈ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi ṯin sūkẖ bihĝvai.

Those who remember God abide in peace.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਆਤਮ੝ ਜੀਤਾ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi ṯin ĝṯam jīṯĝ.

Those who remember God conquer their souls.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਾ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi ṯin nirmal rīṯĝ.

Those who remember God have a pure and spotless lifestyle.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਅਨਦ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi ṯin anaḝ gẖanėrė.

Those who remember God experience all sorts of joys.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕਉ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨੇਰੇ ॥

Parabẖ ka­o simrahi baseh har nėrė.

Those who remember God abide near the Lord.

ਸੰਤ ਕ੝ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਜਾਗਿ ॥

Sanṯ kirpĝ ṯė an­ḝin jĝg.

By the Grace of the Saints, one remains awake and aware, night and day.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਨ੝ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ॥੬॥

Nĝnak simran pūrai bẖĝg. ((6))

O Nanak, this meditative remembrance comes only by perfect destiny. ((6))

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran kĝraj pūrė.

Remembering God, one's works are accomplished.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਬਹ੝ ਨ ਝੂਰੇ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran kabahu na jẖūrė.

Remembering God, one never grieves.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਗ੝ਨ ਬਾਨੀ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran har gun bĝnī.

Remembering God, one speaks the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran sahj samĝnī.

Remembering God, one is absorbed into the state of intuitive ease.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨ੝ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran nihcẖal ĝsan.

Remembering God, one attains the unchanging position.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸਨ੝ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran kamal bigĝsan.

Remembering God, the heart-lotus blossoms forth.

ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਝ੝ਨਕਾਰ ॥

Parabẖ kai simran anhaḝ jẖunkĝr.

Remembering God, the unstruck melody vibrates.

ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਤ੝ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥

Sukẖ parabẖ simran kĝ anṯ na pĝr.

The peace of the meditative remembrance of God has no end or limitation.

ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਮਇਆ ॥

Simrahi sė jan jin ka­o parabẖ ma­i­ĝ.

They alone remember Him, upon whom God bestows His Grace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਇਆ ॥੭॥

Nĝnak ṯin jan sarnī pa­i­ĝ. ((7))

Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of those humble beings. ((7))

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ੝ ਕਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਪ੝ਰਗਟਾਝ ॥

Har simran kar bẖagaṯ pargatĝ­ė.

Remembering the Lord, His devotees are famous and radiant.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਲਗਿ ਬੇਦ ਉਪਾਝ ॥

Har simran lag bėḝ upĝ­ė.

Remembering the Lord, the Vedas were composed.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਭਝ ਸਿਧ ਜਤੀ ਦਾਤੇ ॥

Har simran bẖa­ė siḝẖ jaṯī ḝĝṯė.

Remembering the Lord, we become Siddhas, celibates and givers.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਨੀਚ ਚਹ੝ ਕ੝ੰਟ ਜਾਤੇ ॥

Har simran nīcẖ cẖahu kunt jĝṯė.

Remembering the Lord, the lowly become known in all four directions.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਧਰਨਾ ॥

Har simran ḝẖĝrī sabẖ ḝẖarnĝ.

For the remembrance of the Lord, the whole world was established.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ॥

Simar simar har kĝran karnĝ.

Remember, remember in meditation the Lord, the Creator, the Cause of causes.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕੀਓ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਰਾ ॥

Har simran kī­o sagal akĝrĝ.

For the remembrance of the Lord, He created the whole creation.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥

Har simran meh ĝp nirankĝrĝ.

In the remembrance of the Lord, He Himself is Formless.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸ੝ ਆਪਿ ਬ੝ਝਾਇਆ ॥

Kar kirpĝ jis ĝp bujẖĝ­i­ĝ.

By His Grace, He Himself bestows understanding.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ੝ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੧॥

Nĝnak gurmukẖ har simran ṯin pĝ­i­ĝ. ((8)(1))

O Nanak, the Gurmukh attains the remembrance of the Lord. ((8)(1))
