This is a shabad composition by Guru Gobind Singh found in the Dasam Granth; it can be read online at Sridasam.org at page 131

It is an amazing tribute by a son to the most honourable deed committed by his great father. Writing in the Dasam Granth's, Bachittar Natak composition, the young son of Guru Tegh Bahadar highlights the noble sacrifice of the father Guru.

Guru Gobind Singh tells of the unparalleled way in which the ninth Guru laid down his life for the "sake of saints" to uphold the principle of self-determination by individuals of their own faith; for the person's right to choose freely his own spiritual path.

The Shabad (hymn) speaks volumes; please listen, learn and be enlightened!
