also I could see no pyramid, only 3 domes arranged like the kanji for mountain
Mountain ref
The kanji is not particularly related just a graphic way of indicating mountain as in mt. meru the the recurring theme in most of india's and the world's religious architecture, (the grand shikaras - repeated in the old nihang turbans or the  doors of almost every great catholic cathedral i.e. the vatican). the three lines  by accident (remember freud's quote about accidents) allow the mirrored symmetry of parts of the human body, make up the number 3, i.e. the three feathers of the prince of wales, the Fleur-de-lis, the khanda symbol, the flag of iran  or the trilogy of  the hinduism or  christian religions.  Three is not only an oft used symbol of power or reverence, the  triangle is also one of the strongest structural elements in engineering, design and architecture, as the pyramids of egypt and any bridge truss have proved. So its fairly logical that the kanji for  mountain where almost every early religion believes or believed once that gods lived is derived from mountains where kings lived and humans have sought safety. If they were not to be found man has built them. Even mohammet climbed to the highest peak of mecca for his reported visits with jibral (gabriel) - basta or bas. :) Allenwalla 22:41, 6 December 2009 (UTC) no accident that the temple mound of jerusalem and mountainous kashmir are two of the world's greatest centers of conflict.
please erase the kanji, its late - i need to get to sleep - usually i would open photoshop and edit out the extra info.

Back after a few winks. I also would like to see the statistics (height) in comparison to the Buland Darwaza - it must be close. If wonder if the gate was ever white washed or 'plastered over, as it is rather wonderful in brick. It must have quite an effect on visitors

Hari ji, there is also an inscription on the archway, apparently done in brick - to the casual viewer it looks like only tracery, but i think it says something - can you read this.  I think noting this would be interesting to add. Allenwalla 21:46, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Hari ji, thanks much for your responses. On another note, the photo of BabaDeepSingh59.jpg used on the main page is clearer than I have seen before. I have often wondered the source. Is it a mural in one of the shrines at the Harmandar Sahib complex or an illustration? Do you have any idea.? IT would be useful to credit murals. Thanks Allenwalla 01:52, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Chart Baba Gurditta

Baba Atal ji seems to be called Ani Rai on this chart, is this correct? I can change it if need be. Please advise. Allenwalla 04:52, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

re. Baba Gurditta chart

Hope this works. It helped me to understand more clearly the sequences of who was who and where they all fit in. I kept Gurus in Blue, used the red circle as a symbol of fusion of the female and male elements (sun/son (daughter), womb, kara, with wich the Kartar added the gift of children/birth.

Also added Guru Tegh Bahadur (his original name also), Guru Gobind Singh and the passing of the Guruship. Hope this is acceptable? Allenwalla 02:03, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Sat Sri Akal Sir

Hello Sir

Gundeep here.I am in trouble these days. I am trying to face the disease of castesim strongly but everyone in my family, relatives is against me. Everyone is cursing me badly. I don't know what to do? What should be my reaction? I am in pain..I can't explain my pain in words. But this castesim has indulged in our society so badly and each human being is not ready to come out of it. If I am not accepting this and I am treating each individual on the basis of his/her personal traits and behavior but not on the basis of any caste creed etc..then everyone is trying to pull out me back and showing me negative approach of my thinking.

Please let me know what should I do? Why 'waheguru' has involved me in this situation. I have to choose one either my family or my own choice?

Please guide and show me right path. I am all alone and fighting against it lonely. No one is with me.Please you all help me and try to convince my family and tell them that what our guru says about this castesim. Please call my parents or mail them and convince them. I am asking for help from all of you.

Please help me otherwise I don't know what will happen. I am not able to bear this stress.

Regards Gundeep

re: Harbans Singh Jaswal

Thank you for your suggestion. I will try to locate one and upload it. Sat Sri Akal.

Food for thought, a rabbi, a minister and a Muslim sheik walk into a restaurant?

Combined edits

SSA, Hari ji, It seems i have gotten in the middle of your edits. Please check my additions. Judging by the line at what was described as only an extra room and its remarkablely beautifully detailed dome i am guessing this is the site of the rori bed. So I added wording and a caption to this effect.

I also expect that the site was being vandilized by squatters and like the coliseum in Rome was being used as a quarry where people could steal pieces for their homes as I know no sikh would want to see the Gurdwara damaged. I think the wall was added to stop further damage, i.e. more than mere rot and rather than falling apart people were actively taking it apart. Building an expensive perimeter wall, alone could hardly have stemmed the rot.

thanks for the info. Allenwalla 07:40, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
