| vĝr salokĝ nĝl salok bẖī mahle pahile ke likẖe tunde as rĝjai kī ḝẖunī. |

| Shalok, First Mehl: |
| ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਉਹਾੜੀ ਸਦ ਵਾਰ ॥ |
| Balihĝrī gur ĝpṇe ḝi▫uhĝṛī saḝ vĝr. |
| A hundred times a day, I am a sacrifice to my Guru; |
| ਜਿਨਿ ਮਾਣਸ ਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਕੀਝ ਕਰਤ ਨ ਲਾਗੀ ਵਾਰ ॥੧॥ |
| Jin mĝṇas ṯe ḝevṯe kī▫e karaṯ na lĝgī vĝr. ॥1॥ |
| He made angels out of men, without delay. ॥1॥ |

| Second Mehl: |
| ਜੇ ਸਉ ਚੰਦਾ ਉਗਵਹਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜਹਿ ਹਜਾਰ ॥ |
| Je sa▫o cẖanḝĝ ugvahi sūraj cẖaṛėh hajĝr. |
| If a hundred moons were to rise, and a thousand suns appeared, |
| ਝਤੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋਦਿਆਂ ਗਰ ਬਿਨ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰ ॥੨॥ |
| Ėṯe cẖĝnaṇ hiḝi▫ĝʼn gur bin gẖor anḝẖĝr. ॥2॥ |
| even with such light, there would still be pitch darkness without the Guru. ॥2॥ |

| Mėhlĝ 1. |
| First Mehl: |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗਰੂ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਸਚੇਤ ॥ |
| Nĝnak gurū na cẖeṯnī man ĝpṇai sucẖeṯ. |
| O Nanak, those who do not think of the Guru, and who think of themselves as clever, |
| ਛਟੇ ਤਿਲ ਬੂਆੜ ਜਿਉ ਸੰਞੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਖੇਤ ॥ |
| Cẖẖute ṯil bū▫ĝṛ ji▫o suñe anḝar kẖeṯ. |
| shall be left abandoned in the field, like the scattered sesame. |
| ਖੇਤੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਛਟਿਆ ਕਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਉ ਨਾਹ ॥ |
| Kẖeṯai anḝar cẖẖuti▫ĝ kaho Nĝnak sa▫o nĝh. |
| They are abandoned in the field, says Nanak, and they have a hundred masters to please. |
| ਫਲੀਅਹਿ ਫਲੀਅਹਿ ਬਪੜੇ ਭੀ ਤਨ ਵਿਚਿ ਸਆਹ ॥੩॥ |
| Falī▫ah fulī▫ah bapuṛe bẖī ṯan vicẖ su▫ĝh. ॥3॥ |
| The wretches bear fruit and flower, but within their bodies, they are filled with ashes. ॥3॥ |
| ਪਉੜੀ ॥ |

| Pauree: |
| ਆਪੀਨਹਹੈ ਆਪ ਸਾਜਿਓ ਆਪੀਨਹਹੈ ਰਚਿਓ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| Āpīnĥai ĝp sĝji▫o ĝpīnĥai racẖi▫o nĝ▫o. |
| He Himself created Himself; He Himself assumed His Name. |
| ਦਯੀ ਕਦਰਤਿ ਸਾਜੀਝ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣ ਡਿਠੋ ਚਾਉ ॥ |
| Ḏuyī kuḝraṯ sĝjī▫ai kar ĝsaṇ diṯẖo cẖĝ▫o. |
| Secondly, He fashioned the creation; seated within the creation, He beholds it with delight. |
| ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੂੰ ਤਸਿ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਸਾਉ ॥ |
| Ḏĝṯĝ karṯĝ ĝp ṯūʼn ṯus ḝevėh karahi pasĝ▫o. |
| You Yourself are the Giver and the Creator; by Your Pleasure, You bestow Your Mercy. |
| ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣੋਈ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇ ਲੈਸਹਿ ਜਿੰਦ ਕਵਾਉ ॥ |
| Ŧūʼn jĝṇo▫ī sabẖsai ḝe laisahi jinḝ kavĝ▫o. |
| You are the Knower of all; You give life, and take it away again with a word. |
| ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣ ਡਿਠੋ ਚਾਉ ॥੧॥ |
| Kar ĝsaṇ diṯẖo cẖĝ▫o. ॥1॥ |
| Seated within the creation, You behold it with delight. ॥1॥ |

| ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਸਚੇ ਬਰਹਮੰਡ ॥ |
| Sacẖe ṯere kẖand sacẖe barahmand. |
| True are Your worlds, True are Your solar Systems. |
| ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਲੋਅ ਸਚੇ ਆਕਾਰ ॥ |
| Sacẖe ṯere lo▫a sacẖe ĝkĝr. |
| True are Your realms, True is Your creation. |
| ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਣੇ ਸਰਬ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥ |
| Sacẖe ṯere karṇe sarab bīcẖĝr. |
| True are Your actions, and all Your deliberations. |
| ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਮਰ ਸਚਾ ਦੀਬਾਣ ॥ |
| Sacẖĝ ṯerĝ amar sacẖĝ ḝībĝṇ. |
| True is Your Command, and True is Your Court. |
| ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਕਮ ਸਚਾ ਫਰਮਾਣ ॥ |
| Sacẖĝ ṯerĝ hukam sacẖĝ furmĝṇ. |
| True is the Command of Your Will, True is Your Order. |
| ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣ ॥ |
| Sacẖĝ ṯerĝ karam sacẖĝ nīsĝṇ. |
| True is Your Mercy, True is Your Insignia. |
| ਸਚੇ ਤਧ ਆਖਹਿ ਲਖ ਕਰੋੜਿ ॥ |
| Sacẖe ṯuḝẖ ĝkẖahi lakẖ karoṛ. |
| Hundreds of thousands and millions call You True. |
| ਸਚੈ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਣਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਭਿ ਜੋਰਿ ॥ |
| Sacẖai sabẖ ṯĝṇ sacẖai sabẖ jor. |
| In the True Lord is all power, in the True Lord is all might. |
| ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਚੀ ਸਾਲਾਹ ॥ |
| Sacẖī ṯerī sifaṯ sacẖī sĝlĝh. |
| True is Your Praise, True is Your Adoration. |
| ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਦਰਤਿ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥ |
| Sacẖī ṯerī kuḝraṯ sacẖe pĝṯisĝh. |
| True is Your almighty creative power, True King. |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸਚ ॥ |
| Nĝnak sacẖ ḝẖi▫ĝ▫in sacẖ. |
| O Nanak, true are those who meditate on the True One. |
| ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੇ ਸ ਕਚ ਨਿਕਚ ॥੧॥ |
| Jo mar jamme so kacẖ nikacẖ. ॥1॥ |
| Those who are subject to birth and death are totally false. ॥1॥ |

| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਵਡਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī jĝ vadĝ nĝ▫o. |
| Great is His greatness, as great as His Name. |
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਸਚ ਨਿਆਉ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī jĝ sacẖ ni▫ĝ▫o. |
| Great is His greatness, as True is His justice. |
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਉ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī jĝ nihcẖal thĝ▫o. |
| Great is His greatness, as permanent as His Throne. |
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਲਾਉ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī jĝṇai ĝlĝ▫o. |
| Great is His greatness, as He knows our utterances. |
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬਝੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਾਉ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī bujẖai sabẖ bẖĝ▫o. |
| Great is His greatness, as He understands all our affections. |
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਪਛਿ ਨ ਦਾਤਿ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī jĝ pucẖẖ na ḝĝṯ. |
| Great is His greatness, as He gives without being asked. |
| ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥ |
| vadī vadi▫ĝ▫ī jĝ ĝpe ĝp. |
| Great is His greatness, as He Himself is all-in-all. |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਕਥਨੀ ਜਾਇ ॥ |
| Nĝnak kĝr na kathnī jĝ▫e. |
| O Nanak, His actions cannot be described. |
| ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥ |
| Kīṯĝ karṇĝ sarab rajĝ▫e. ॥2॥ |
| Whatever He has done, or will do, is all by His Own Will. ॥2॥ |

| Second Mehl: |
| ਇਹ ਜਗ ਸਚੈ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਸਚੇ ਕਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਾਸ ॥ |
| Ih jag sacẖai kī hai koṯẖ▫ṛī sacẖe kĝ vicẖ vĝs. |
| This world is the room of the True Lord; within it is the dwelling of the True Lord. |
| ਇਕਨਹਹਾ ਹਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ਲਝ ਇਕਨਹਹਾ ਹਕਮੇ ਕਰੇ ਵਿਣਾਸ ॥ |
| Iknĥĝ hukam samĝ▫e la▫e iknĥĝ hukme kare viṇĝs. |
| By His Command, some are merged into Him, and some, by His Command, are destroyed. |
| ਇਕਨਹਹਾ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਢਿ ਲਝ ਇਕਨਹਹਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥ |
| Iknĥĝ bẖĝṇai kadẖ la▫e iknĥĝ mĝ▫i▫ĝ vicẖ nivĝs. |
| Some, by the Pleasure of His Will, are lifted up out of Maya, while others are made to dwell within it. |
| ਝਵ ਭਿ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਜਾਪਈ ਜਿ ਕਿਸੈ ਆਣੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥ |
| Ėv bẖė ĝkẖ na jĝp▫ī jė kisai ĝṇe rĝs. |
| No one can say who will be rescued. |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਗਰਮਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਝ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੩॥ |
| Nĝnak gurmukẖ jĝṇī▫ai jĝ ka▫o ĝp kare pargĝs. ॥3॥ |
| O Nanak, he alone is known as Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord reveals Himself. ॥3॥ |

| Pauree: |
| ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਲਿਖਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਧਰਮ ਬਹਾਲਿਆ ॥ |
| Nĝnak jī▫a upĝ▫e kai likẖ nĝvai ḝẖaram bahĝli▫ĝ. |
| O Nanak, having created the souls, the Lord installed the Righteous Judge of Dharma to read and record their accounts. |
| ਓਥੈ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਿਬੜੈ ਚਣਿ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੇ ਜਜਮਾਲਿਆ ॥ |
| Othai sacẖe hī sacẖ nibṛai cẖuṇ vakẖ kadẖe jajmĝli▫ĝ. |
| There, only the Truth is judged true; the sinners are picked out and separated. |
| ਥਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਮਹ ਕਾਲਹਹੈ ਦੋਜਕਿ ਚਾਲਿਆ ॥ |
| Thĝ▫o na pĝ▫in kūṛi▫ĝr muh kĝlĥai ḝojak cẖĝli▫ĝ. |
| The false find no place there, and they go to hell with their faces blackened. |
| ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਇ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਗਝ ਹਾਰਿ ਗਝ ਸਿ ਠਗਣ ਵਾਲਿਆ ॥ |
| Ŧerai nĝ▫e raṯe se jiṇ ga▫e hĝr ga▫e sė ṯẖagaṇ vĝli▫ĝ. |
| Those who are imbued with Your Name win, while the cheaters lose. |
| ਲਿਖਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਧਰਮ ਬਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੨॥ |
| Likẖ nĝvai ḝẖaram bahĝli▫ĝ. ॥2॥ |
| The Lord installed the Righteous Judge of Dharma to read and record the accounts. ॥2॥ |

| Wonderful is the sound current of the Naad, wonderful is the knowledge of the Vedas. |
| ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਜੀਅ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਭੇਦ ॥ |
| vismĝḝ jī▫a vismĝḝ bẖeḝ. |
| Wonderful are the beings, wonderful are the species. |
| ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਰੰਗ ॥ |
| vismĝḝ rūp vismĝḝ rang. |
| Wonderful are the forms, wonderful are the colors. |
| ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਨਾਗੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਜੰਤ ॥ |
| vismĝḝ nĝge firėh janṯ. |
| Wonderful are the beings who wander around naked. |
