|Fareed, the bird is a guest in this beautiful world-garden.}}

|Na▫ubaṯ vajī subah si▫o cẖalaṇ kĝ kar sĝj. (79)

|The morning drums are beating - get ready to leave! (79)}}

|Farīḝĝ rĝṯ kathūrī vandī▫ai suṯi▫ĝ milai na bẖĝ▫o.

|Fareed, musk is released at night. Those who are sleeping do not receive their share.}}

|Jinĥĝ naiṇ nīʼnḝrĝvale ṯinĥĝ milaṇ ku▫ĝ▫o. (80)

|Those whose eyes are heavy with sleep - how can they receive it? (80)}}

|Farīḝĝ mai jĝni▫ĝ ḝukẖ mujẖ kū ḝukẖ sabĝ▫i▫ai jag.

|Fareed, I thought that I was in trouble; the whole world is in trouble!}}

|When I climbed the hill and looked around, I saw this fire in each and every home. (81)}}

|Farīḝĝ bẖūm rangĝvalī manjẖ visūlĝ bĝg.

|Fareed, in the midst of this beautiful earth, there is a garden of thorns.}}

|Jo jan pīr nivĝji▫ĝ ṯinĥĝ ancẖ na lĝg. (82)

|Those humble beings who are blessed by their spiritual teacher, do not suffer even a scratch. (82)}}

|Farīḝĝ umar suhĝvaṛī sang suvannṛī ḝeh.

|Fareed, life is blessed and beautiful, along with the beautiful body.}}

{{g|ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਜਿੰਨ੝ਹ੝ਹਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੇਹ ॥੮੩॥

|Only a rare few are found, who love their Beloved Lord. (83)}}

{{g|ਕੰਧੀ ਵਹਣ ਨ ਢਾਹਿ ਤਉ ਭੀ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਵਣਾ ॥

|Kanḝẖī vahaṇ na dẖĝhi ṯa▫o bẖī lekẖĝ ḝevṇĝ.

|O river, do not destroy your banks; you too will be asked to give your account.}}

{{g|ਜਿਧਰਿ ਰਬ ਰਜਾਇ ਵਹਣ੝ ਤਿਦਾਊ ਗੰਉ ਕਰੇ ॥੮੪॥

|Jiḝẖar rab rajĝ▫e vahaṇ ṯiḝẖĝ▫ū gaʼn▫o kare. (84)

|The river flows in whatever direction the Lord orders. (84)}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਡ੝ਖਾ ਸੇਤੀ ਦਿਹ੝ ਗਇਆ ਸੂਲਾਂ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਾਤਿ ॥

|Farīḝĝ dukẖĝ seṯī ḝihu ga▫i▫ĝ sūlĝʼn seṯī rĝṯ.

|Fareed, the day passes painfully; the night is spent in anguish.}}

{{g|ਖੜਾ ਪ੝ਕਾਰੇ ਪਾਤਣੀ ਬੇੜਾ ਕਪਰ ਵਾਤਿ ॥੮੫॥

|Kẖaṛĝ pukĝre pĝṯ▫ṇī beṛĝ kapar vĝṯ. (85)

|The boatman stands up and shouts, "The boat is caught in the whirlpool!" (85)}}

{{g|ਲੰਮੀ ਲੰਮੀ ਨਦੀ ਵਹੈ ਕੰਧੀ ਕੇਰੈ ਹੇਤਿ ॥

|Lammī lammī naḝī vahai kanḝẖī kerai heṯ.

|The river flows on and on; it loves to eat into its banks.}}

{{g|ਬੇੜੇ ਨੋ ਕਪਰ੝ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਪਾਤਣ ਰਹੈ ਸ੝ਚੇਤਿ ॥੮੬॥

|Beṛe no kapar ki▫ĝ kare je pĝṯaṇ rahai sucẖeṯ. (86)

|What can the whirlpool do to the boat, if the boatman remains alert? (86)}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਗਲੀ ਸ੝ ਸਜਣ ਵੀਹ ਇਕ੝ ਢੂੰਢੇਦੀ ਨ ਲਹਾਂ ॥

|Farīḝĝ galīʼn so sajaṇ vīh ik dẖūʼndẖeḝī na lahĝʼn.

|Fareed, there are dozens who say they are friends; I search, but I cannot find even one.}}

{{g|ਧ੝ਖਾਂ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਂਲੀਹ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਤਿੰਨ੝ਹ੝ਹਾ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੮੭॥

|Ḏẖukẖĝʼn ji▫o mĝʼnlīh kĝraṇ ṯinĥĝ mĝ pirī. (87)

|I yearn for my beloved like a smouldering fire. (87)}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਇਹ੝ ਤਨ੝ ਭਉਕਣਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਦ੝ਖੀਝ ਕਉਣ੝ ॥

|Farīḝĝ ih ṯan bẖa▫ukaṇĝ niṯ niṯ ḝukẖī▫ai ka▫uṇ.

|Fareed, this body is always barking. Who can stand this constant suffering?}}

{{g|ਕੰਨੀ ਬ੝ਜੇ ਦੇ ਰਹਾਂ ਕਿਤੀ ਵਗੈ ਪਉਣ੝ ॥੮੮॥

|Kannī buje ḝe rahĝʼn kiṯī vagai pa▫uṇ. (88)

|I have put plugs in my ears; I don't care how much the wind is blowing. (88)}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਰਬ ਖਜੂਰੀ ਪਕੀਆਂ ਮਾਖਿਅ ਨਈ ਵਹੰਨ੝ਹ੝ਹਿ ॥

|Farīḝĝ rab kẖajūrī pakī▫ĝʼn mĝkẖi▫a na▫ī vahaʼnniĥ.

|Fareed, God's dates have ripened, and rivers of honey flow.}}

{{g|ਜੋ ਜੋ ਵੰਞੈਂ ਡੀਹੜਾ ਸੋ ਉਮਰ ਹਥ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥੮੯॥

|Jo jo vañaiʼn dīhṛĝ so umar hath pavann. (89)

|With each passing day, your life is being stolen away. (89)}}

|Farīḝĝ ṯan sukĝ pinjar thī▫ĝ ṯalī▫ĝʼn kẖūʼndėh kĝg.

|Fareed, my withered body has become a skeleton; the crows are pecking at my palms.}}

{{g|ਅਜੈ ਸ੝ ਰਬ੝ ਨ ਬਾਹ੝ੜਿਓ ਦੇਖ੝ ਬੰਦੇ ਕੇ ਭਾਗ ॥੯੦॥

|Ajai so rab na bĝhuṛi▫o ḝekẖ banḝe ke bẖĝg. (90)

|Even now, God has not come to help me; behold, this is the fate of all mortal beings. (90)}}

{{g|ਕਾਗਾ ਕਰੰਗ ਢੰਢੋਲਿਆ ਸਗਲਾ ਖਾਇਆ ਮਾਸ੝ ॥

|Kĝgĝ karang dẖandẖoli▫ĝ saglĝ kẖĝ▫i▫ĝ mĝs.

|The crows have searched my skeleton, and eaten all my flesh.}}

{{g|ਝ ਦ੝ਇ ਨੈਨਾ ਮਤਿ ਛ੝ਹਉ ਪਿਰ ਦੇਖਨ ਕੀ ਆਸ ॥੯੧॥

|Ė ḝu▫e nainĝ maṯ cẖẖuha▫o pir ḝekẖan kī ĝs. (91)

|But please do not touch these eyes; I hope to see my Lord. (91)}}

{{g|ਕਾਗਾ ਚੂੰਡਿ ਨ ਪਿੰਜਰਾ ਬਸੈ ਤ ਉਡਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

|Kĝgĝ cẖūnd na pinjrĝ basai ṯa udar jĝhi.

|O crow, do not peck at my skeleton; if you have landed on it, fly away.}}

{{g|ਜਿਤ੝ ਪਿੰਜਰੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹ੝ ਵਸੈ ਮਾਸ੝ ਨ ਤਿਦੂ ਖਾਹਿ ॥੯੨॥

|Jiṯ pinjrai merĝ saho vasai mĝs na ṯiḝū kẖĝhi. (92)

|Do not eat the flesh from that skeleton, within which my Husband Lord abides. (92)}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਗੋਰ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸਡ੝ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਘਰਿਆ ਘਰਿ ਆਉ ॥

|Farīḝĝ gor nimĝṇī sad kare nigẖri▫ĝ gẖar ĝ▫o.

|Fareed, the poor grave calls out, "O homeless one, come back to your home.}}

{{g|ਸਰਪਰ ਮੈਥੈ ਆਵਣਾ ਮਰਣਹ੝ ਨਾ ਡਰਿਆਹ੝ ॥੯੩॥

|Sarpar maithai ĝvṇĝ marṇahu na dari▫ĝhu. (93)

|You shall surely have to come to me; do not be afraid of death". (93)}}

{{g|ਝਨੀ ਲੋਇਣੀ ਦੇਖਦਿਆ ਕੇਤੀ ਚਲਿ ਗਈ ॥

|Ėnī lo▫iṇī ḝekẖ▫ḝi▫ĝ keṯī cẖal ga▫ī.

|These eyes have seen a great many leave.}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਮੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਈ ॥੯੪॥

|Farīḝĝ lokĝʼn ĝpo ĝpṇī mai ĝpṇī pa▫ī. (94)

|Fareed, the people have their fate, and I have mine. (94)}}

{{g|ਆਪ੝ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਮੈ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਹੋਇ ॥

|Āp savĝrėh mai milėh mai mili▫ĝ sukẖ ho▫e.

|God says, "If you reform yourself, you shall meet me, and meeting me, you shall be at peace.}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜੇ ਤੂ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਭ੝ ਜਗ੝ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੯੫॥

|Farīḝĝ je ṯū merĝ ho▫e rahėh sabẖ jag ṯerĝ ho▫e. (95)

|O Fareed, if you will be mine, the whole world will be yours". (95)}}

|Kanḝẖī uṯai rukẖ▫ṛĝ kicẖrak bannai ḝẖīr.

|How long can the tree remain implanted on the river-bank?}}

{{g|ਫਰੀਦਾ ਕਚੈ ਭਾਂਡੈ ਰਖੀਝ ਕਿਚਰ੝ ਤਾਈ ਨੀਰ੝ ॥੯੬॥

|Farīḝĝ kacẖai bẖĝʼndai rakẖī▫ai kicẖar ṯĝ▫ī nīr. (96)

|Fareed, how long can water be kept in a soft clay pot? (96)||}}

|Farīḝĝ mahal nisakẖaṇ rėh ga▫e vĝsĝ ĝ▫i▫ĝ ṯal.

|Fareed, the mansions are vacant; those who lived in them have gone to live underground.}}
