{{g|ਸਾਈ ਜਾਇ ਸਮ੝ਹ੝ਹਾਲਿ ਜਿਥੈ ਹੀ ਤਉ ਵੰਞਣਾ ॥੫੮॥ Sĝ▫ī jĝ▫e samĥĝl jithai hī ṯa▫o vanjṇĝ. ||58|| Remember that place where you must go. ||58||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜਿਨ੝ਹ੝ਹੀ ਕੰਮੀ ਨਾਹਿ ਗ੝ਣ ਤੇ ਕੰਮੜੇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ jinĥī kammī nĝhi guṇ ṯe kammṛe visĝr. Fareed, those deeds which do not bring merit - forget about those deeds.

ਮਤ੝ ਸਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਥੀਵਹੀ ਸਾਂਈ ਦੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥੫੯॥ Maṯ sarminḝĝ thīvhī sĝʼn▫ī ḝai ḝarbĝr. ||59|| Otherwise, you shall be put to shame, in the Court of the Lord. ||59||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਕਰਿ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਲਾਹਿ ਭਰਾਂਦਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ sĝhib ḝī kar cẖĝkrī ḝil ḝī lĝhi bẖarĝʼnḝ. Fareed, work for your Lord and Master; dispel the doubts of your heart.

ਦਰਵੇਸਾਂ ਨੋ ਲੋੜੀਝ ਰ੝ਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਰਾਂਦਿ ॥੬੦॥ Ḏarvesĝʼn no loṛī▫ai rukẖĝʼn ḝī jīrĝʼnḝ. ||60|| The dervishes, the humble devotees, have the patient endurance of trees. ||60||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਕਾਲੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਕਪੜੇ ਕਾਲਾ ਮੈਡਾ ਵੇਸ੝ ॥ Farīḝĝ kĝle maide kapṛe kĝlĝ maidĝ ves. Fareed, my clothes are black, and my outfit is black.

ਗ੝ਨਹੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਮੈ ਫਿਰਾ ਲੋਕ੝ ਕਹੈ ਦਰਵੇਸ੝ ॥੬੧॥ Gunhī bẖari▫ĝ mai firĝ lok kahai ḝarves. ||61|| I wander around full of sins, and yet people call me a dervish - a holy man. ||61||

ਤਤੀ ਤੋਇ ਨ ਪਲਵੈ ਜੇ ਜਲਿ ਟ੝ਬੀ ਦੇਇ ॥ Ŧaṯī ṯo▫e na palvai je jal tubī ḝe▫e. The crop which is burnt will not bloom, even if it is soaked in water.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜੋ ਡੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਰਬ ਦੀ ਝੂਰੇਦੀ ਝੂਰੇਇ ॥੬੨॥ Farīḝĝ jo dohĝgaṇ rab ḝī jẖūreḝī jūre▫e. ||62|| Fareed, she who is forsaken by her Husband Lord, grieves and laments. ||62||

ਜਾਂ ਕ੝ਆਰੀ ਤਾ ਚਾਉ ਵੀਵਾਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਮਲੇ ॥ Jĝʼn ku▫ĝrī ṯĝ cẖĝ▫o vīvĝhī ṯĝʼn mĝmle. When she is a virgin, she is full of desire; but when she is married, then her troubles begin.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਝਹੋ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਵਤਿ ਕ੝ਆਰੀ ਨ ਥੀਝ ॥੬੩॥ Farīḝĝ eho pacẖẖoṯĝ▫o vaṯ ku▫ĝrī na thī▫ai. ||63|| Fareed, she has this one regret, that she cannot be a virgin again. ||63||

ਕਲਰ ਕੇਰੀ ਛਪੜੀ ਆਇ ਉਲਥੇ ਹੰਝ ॥ Kalar kerī cẖẖapṛī ĝ▫e ulthe hanjẖ. The swans have landed in a small pond of salt water.

ਚਿੰਜੂ ਬੋੜਨ੝ਹ੝ਹਿ ਨਾ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਉਡਣ ਸੰਦੀ ਡੰਝ ॥੬੪॥ Cẖinjū boṛniĥ nĝ pīvėh udaṇ sanḝī danjẖ. ||64|| They dip in their bills, but do not drink; they fly away, still thirsty. ||64||

ਹੰਸ੝ ਉਡਰਿ ਕੋਧ੝ਰੈ ਪਇਆ ਲੋਕ੝ ਵਿਡਾਰਣਿ ਜਾਇ ॥ Hans udar koḝẖrai pa▫i▫ĝ lok vidĝraṇ jĝ▫e. The swans fly away, and land in the fields of grain. The people go to chase them away.

ਗਹਿਲਾ ਲੋਕ੝ ਨ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੰਸ੝ ਨ ਕੋਧ੝ਰਾ ਖਾਇ ॥੬੫॥ Gahilĝ lok na jĝṇḝĝ hans na koḝẖrĝ kẖĝ▫e. ||65|| The thoughtless people do not know, that the swans do not eat the grain. ||65||

ਚਲਿ ਚਲਿ ਗਈਆਂ ਪੰਖੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੝ਹ੝ਹੀ ਵਸਾਝ ਤਲ ॥ Cẖal cẖal ga▫ī▫ĝ pankẖī▫ĝʼn jinĥī vasĝ▫e ṯal. The birds which lived in the pools have flown away and left.

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਸਰ੝ ਭਰਿਆ ਭੀ ਚਲਸੀ ਥਕੇ ਕਵਲ ਇਕਲ ॥੬੬॥ Farīḝĝ sar bẖari▫ĝ bẖī cẖalsī thake kaval ikal. ||66|| Fareed, the overflowing pool shall also pass away, and only the lotus flowers shall remain. ||66||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਇਟ ਸਿਰਾਣੇ ਭ੝ਇ ਸਵਣ੝ ਕੀੜਾ ਲੜਿਓ ਮਾਸਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ it sirĝṇe bẖu▫e savaṇ kīṛĝ laṛi▫o mĝs. Fareed, a stone will be your pillow, and the earth will be your bed. The worms shall eat into your flesh.

ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਜ੝ਗ ਵਾਪਰੇ ਇਕਤ੝ ਪਇਆ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੬੭॥ Keṯ▫ṛi▫ĝ jug vĝpre ikaṯ pa▫i▫ĝ pĝs. ||67|| Countless ages will pass, and you will still be lying on one side. ||67||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਭੰਨੀ ਘੜੀ ਸਵੰਨਵੀ ਟ੝ਟੀ ਨਾਗਰ ਲਜ੝ ॥ Farīḝĝ bẖannī gẖaṛī savannvī tutī nĝgar laj. Fareed, your beautiful body shall break apart, and the subtle thread of the breath shall be snapped.

ਅਜਰਾਈਲ੝ ਫਰੇਸਤਾ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਨਾਠੀ ਅਜ੝ ॥੬੮॥ Ajrĝ▫īl faresṯĝ kai gẖar nĝṯẖī aj. ||68|| In which house will the Messenger of Death be a guest today? ||68||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਭੰਨੀ ਘੜੀ ਸਵੰਨਵੀ ਟੂਟੀ ਨਾਗਰ ਲਜ੝ ॥ Farīḝĝ bẖannī gẖaṛī savannvī tūtī nĝgar laj. Fareed, your beautiful body shall break apart, and the subtle thread of the breath shall be snapped.

ਜੋ ਸਜਣ ਭ੝ਇ ਭਾਰ੝ ਥੇ ਸੇ ਕਿਉ ਆਵਹਿ ਅਜ੝ ॥੬੯॥ Jo sajaṇ bẖu▫e bẖĝr the se ki▫o ĝvahi aj. ||69|| Those friends who were a burden on the earth - how can they come today? ||69||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਬੇ ਨਿਵਾਜਾ ਕ੝ਤਿਆ ਝਹ ਨ ਭਲੀ ਰੀਤਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ be nivĝjĝ kuṯi▫ĝ eh na bẖalī rīṯ. Fareed: O faithless dog, this is not a good way of life.

ਕਬਹੀ ਚਲਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ਪੰਜੇ ਵਖਤ ਮਸੀਤਿ ॥੭੦॥ Kabhī cẖal na ĝ▫i▫ĝ panje vakẖaṯ masīṯ. ||70|| You never come to the mosque for your five daily prayers. ||70||

ਉਠ੝ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਉਜੂ ਸਾਜਿ ਸ੝ਬਹ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗ੝ਜਾਰਿ ॥ Uṯẖ Farīḝĝ ujū sĝj subah nivĝj gujĝr. Rise up, Fareed, and cleanse yourself; chant your morning prayer.

ਜੋ ਸਿਰ੝ ਸਾਂਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰ੝ ਕਪਿ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥੭੧॥ Jo sir sĝʼn▫ī nĝ nivai so sir kap uṯĝr. ||71|| The head which does not bow to the Lord - chop off and remove that head. ||71||

ਜੋ ਸਿਰ੝ ਸਾਈ ਨਾ ਨਿਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਿਰ੝ ਕੀਜੈ ਕਾਂਇ ॥ Jo sir sĝ▫ī nĝ nivai so sir kījai kĝʼn▫e. That head which does not bow to the Lord - what is to be done with that head?

ਕ੝ੰਨੇ ਹੇਠਿ ਜਲਾਈਝ ਬਾਲਣ ਸੰਦੈ ਥਾਇ ॥੭੨॥ Kunne heṯẖ jalĝ▫ī▫ai bĝlaṇ sanḝai thĝ▫e. ||72|| Put it in the fireplace, instead of firewood. ||72||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਕਿਥੈ ਤੈਡੇ ਮਾਪਿਆ ਜਿਨ੝ਹ੝ਹੀ ਤੂ ਜਣਿਓਹਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ kithai ṯaide mĝpi▫ĝ jinĥī ṯū jaṇi▫ohi. Fareed, where are your mother and father, who gave birth to you?

ਤੈ ਪਾਸਹ੝ ਓਇ ਲਦਿ ਗਝ ਤੂੰ ਅਜੈ ਨ ਪਤੀਣੋਹਿ ॥੭੩॥ Ŧai pĝshu o▫e laḝ ga▫e ṯūʼn ajai na paṯīṇohi. ||73|| They have left you, but even so, you are not convinced that you shall also have to go. ||73||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਮਨ੝ ਮੈਦਾਨ੝ ਕਰਿ ਟੋਝ ਟਿਬੇ ਲਾਹਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ man maiḝĝn kar to▫e tibe lĝhi. Fareed, flatten out your mind; smooth out the hills and valleys.

ਅਗੈ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵਸੀ ਦੋਜਕ ਸੰਦੀ ਭਾਹਿ ॥੭੪॥ Agai mūl na ĝvsī ḝojak sanḝī bẖĝhi. ||74|| Hereafter, the fires of hell shall not even approach you. ||74||

ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ Mėhlĝ 5. Fifth Mehl:

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਖਾਲਕ੝ ਖਲਕ ਮਹਿ ਖਲਕ ਵਸੈ ਰਬ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ Farīḝĝ kẖĝlak kẖalak mėh kẖalak vasai rab mĝhi. Fareed, the Creator is in the Creation, and the Creation abides in God.

ਮੰਦਾ ਕਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਖੀਝ ਜਾਂ ਤਿਸ੝ ਬਿਨ੝ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੭੫॥ Manḝĝ kis no ĝkẖī▫ai jĝʼn ṯis bin ko▫ī nĝhi. ||75|| Whom can we call bad? There is none without Him. ||75||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਜਿ ਦਿਹਿ ਨਾਲਾ ਕਪਿਆ ਜੇ ਗਲ੝ ਕਪਹਿ ਚ੝ਖ ॥ Farīḝĝ jė ḝihi nĝlĝ kapi▫ĝ je gal kapėh cẖukẖ. Fareed, if on that day when my umbilical cord was cut, my throat had been cut instead,

ਪਵਨਿ ਨ ਇਤੀ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਸਹਾਂ ਨ ਇਤੀ ਦ੝ਖ ॥੭੬॥ Pavan na iṯī mĝmle sahĝʼn na iṯī ḝukẖ. ||76|| I would not have fallen into so many troubles, or undergone so many hardships. ||76||

ਚਬਣ ਚਲਣ ਰਤੰਨ ਸੇ ਸ੝ਣੀਅਰ ਬਹਿ ਗਝ ॥ Cẖabaṇ cẖalaṇ raṯann se suṇī▫ar bahi ga▫e. My teeth, feet, eyes and ears have stopped working.

ਹੇੜੇ ਮ੝ਤੀ ਧਾਹ ਸੇ ਜਾਨੀ ਚਲਿ ਗਝ ॥੭੭॥ Heṛe muṯī ḝẖĝh se jĝnī cẖal ga▫e. ||77|| My body cries out, "Those whom I knew have left me!" ||77||

ਫਰੀਦਾ ਬ੝ਰੇ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਗ੝ਸਾ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਹਢਾਇ ॥ Farīḝĝ bure ḝĝ bẖalĝ kar gusĝ man na hadẖĝ▫e. Fareed, answer evil with goodness; do not fill your mind with anger.
