Rudra Avtar is a composition under title Ath Rudra Avtar Kathan(n), written by Guru Gobind Singh, probably in Samvat 1755/ 1698 at Anandpur Sahib. This chastened form o description of Rudra contains 498 verses describing two Rudra Forms i.e Dattatreyaa and Parsnaath.

Rudra is thought to be an early form of Shiva. Rudra is a Rigvedic god of the storm, the wind, and the hunt. The name has been translated as "Roarer", "Howler", "Wild One", and "Terrible". Shiva as we know him today shares many features with the Vedic god Rudra, and both Shiva and Rudra are viewed as the same personality in a number of Hindu traditions. By the time that the Ramayana was written, the name Rudra is taken as a synonym for Shiva and the two names are used interchangeably.

In the second section, the lives of 2 incarnations of Rudra (also known as Shiva) are described namely, . Rudra, as his counterpart Brahma also was the victim of excessive uncontrolled ego and was banished to Earth (by taking the form of the 2 incarnations).
