On 29 july 1940, he joined in 10/8th punjab regiment Lahore. There were six groups of punjab regiments before partition 25% of the men were Sikhs. Fateh Singh was posted after taking oath with 33 more labana sikhs in 2/8 punjab regiment. There was a place named chitral near tibet and labana sikhs were taken to that regiment due to shortage of jatt sikhs during WW II. Chitral was also called Kala Pani (Black water). Capt saab met prisoners there. He was posted to signal pl hq company and sher singh and joga singh gotpokar was also with him. He had passed romanized urdu and 1st class english. Then capt saab joined VCO at jhansi training school.

  • During Second World War, A Gurudwara was built at Mandalay (Burma). He demanded help from a british official that they have to bring cnstruction work things and that official agreed and send the army trucks for the purpose.
