Explaination: This is a shabad by Bhagat Namdev who you may know was a calico printer/tailor and part of his householder's life involved the washing of clothes. The first line of this shabad refers to a the Naam as a "khundhkara" which is the name given to the platform on to which the clothes are struck to get them clean - it is like the anvil onto which hot metal is rested to be struck with a hammer - Bhagat ji says that the Lord's name and remembrance is like this platform on to which the mind can be stuck to purify it - just like the clothes when they hit this platform get cleansed - striking or reciting the Naam cleanses the mind and purifies the person.
Bhagat ji says: "Mai andhulae kee tak" - For this blind person, my only prop or resort is "tara naam khundhkara" your support (platform) in the form of your Naam; that is my only anchor.
"mai gareb mai masaken", I am poor and long suffering; "thara naam hai adhara" your Name is of any credit or value; it is the only solid support I can rely on.
"karema rehema alah thoo ganee" Creator, merciful the Lord you are unique; "hajura hajoor dhar paes thoo manee" ever-present, present in the Court; in the mind.
"dhareao thoo dhihendh thoo bisear thoo dhanee" Ocean is You; You ever watchful; widespread and wealthy; "dhaha laha eak thoo dheger ko nahee" Giver and taker only one; there no other.
"thoo dhana thoo beena mai bechaar kia karee" you're Donor; you're seer; what can humble me do? "naama chae suamee bakshandh thoo hari" Namdev's master is the bless-ful Hari!
