Nangali Sahib road project pleases Sikhs Tribune News Service Jammu, on November 8, 2001

It was a dream come true for several Sikh organisations when the state government sanctioned Rs 36 lakh for the road development programme at Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch, which attracts a large number of Sikhs to the shrine.

The amount was sanctioned by the Minister for Social Welfare, Mr Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, during the tenth death anniversary of Mahant Bichittar Singh.

A number of Sikh organisations met here today under the chairmanship of Mr S.S. Wazir and appreciated Mr Bukhari’s gesture. Mr Wazir, who heads the Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, said that the board had brought to the notice of the state government the need for building suitable and motorable roads that connect shrines and gurdwaras with the towns.

He hoped that the National Conference government would fulfil its commitment of development of shrines and holy places belonging to communities of different faiths.
