Gurdwara Puddha Sahib is a famous Sikh gurdwara located in Gobindgarh Sahib, about 1 kilometre from Zirakpur in the village of Singhpura. Great gathering take place here every Sunday. Baba Ram Singh Je (Waddae Baba ("Older Baba")) and Baba singh jee (Name not known) are two high spiritual leaders who are associated with this sacred shrine. Elderly sewadars have always played an important role at this holy temple. The history of this gurdwara is linked to the renowned saint Peer Bhikan Shah.

Gurdwara Details

  • 1. Darbar Sahib - In the Gurdwara complex, 6 birs of Guru Granth Sahib are installed in the Darbar Sahib. On Sunday, the highest number of devotees attend and a very large gathering of sangat take place here. During the gathering, after the ardaas, 6 [[Hukamnama]s are taken from each of the 6 birs. Due to the size of the gurdwara and the number of sangat attending, there is no place to sit inside the gurdwara especially on Sunday. Baba Ram Singh (Waddae Baba) preaches and does Katha every Sunday. This event is always very well attended as people come from far to listen to wadde Baba ji
  • 2. Sarovar Sahib - The sacred pool is called "Amrit sarovar" and nobody is allowed to enter into sarovar. The attendees are not allowed to enter the holy pool to bath but have to use buckets to remove the water to have a shower. As the sarovar is considered sacred, the water is used for drinking and cooking. Also the water is used to prepare Amrit from the source of water. This pure water (Amrit Jaal) is used for drinking and also is taken take away by the gallons for use in their homes due to its sacred properties. It is said that by taking this "Amrit", a lot of the members of the sangat (congregation) have derived many benefits and recovery from many illness. So this water is considered to have special properties and is considered a cure for many ailments.
  • 3. Langar Hall - The very large langar hall is established here. It can accommodate up to 400 or more in a single sitting. The langar operates at all times.
