Ramdasar is the name given to "Amritsar" during the time of Guru Ram Das when the pool (Sarovar) and the Golden Temple (Harmandar Sahib) were being constructed during the period from about 1575 to about 1600. Guru Arjan renamed the city and sarovor to its present name.
