Well who are u from where u belongs write this on yor user page dont ive ur much details but basic details are required.

Western culture is elgulfing whole india especially punjab mainly major cities like chandigarh mohali jalandhar etc. Our punjabis went to west sides and some has preserved sikhi and other merged in them. Even punjab culture we are losing in punjab too. Pakistan is the place where punjabi culture u acan see in bulk but not in punjab . Well tell me somethin! abt u before i continue....user:paapi

Thanks again for so much interest in my articles Tawi andPahari. About Nanded Takhat you have rightly said somethings. With the passage of time many myth stories have been added which are against the basic principles of Sikhism. Moreover at two Takhats Nanded and Patna many rituals are being done which are not acceptable in Sikhism. I visit the local Gurdwara of our locality. Actually there are more than 150 Gurdwaras in whole Jammu and Kashmir. I have also recently visited Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar on 14 Oct 2007.

Respected Allenwalla, Sat Sri Akal. Please, no need to apologise. I think you made a perfectly valid comment and what you state may be a view held by many and it may reflect the initial reaction of the dominating English tradition of the time. It opens our eyes and what you say may be totally correct and there may have been a negative aim in the minds of the creators of some of these words. I think we are better prepared and I think it will direct me in future to prefer to use Sikhi instead of Sikhism where ever possible. Also, Sikhi is what is used in the original Punjabi language and it reinforces my preference. I have not seen the Gurdwara Sahib quoted by you but by looking its photo it does not have any resemblence with mandirs as questioned by you. It looks like Fort type .There are many Gurdwaras giving a Fort look.

I am not sure if the article was removed by accident or deliberately. Could you tell me? Due to technical problems over the weekend, I have some pending issues with a few articles as well. I don't so much have to check what others did but rather what I did before the system halted so that the content is almost in the same state that it was before the crash. I think we have an acceptable situation now provided we don't suffer any more technical bugs!

As you say, you become used to the site and one does miss it when it is not available. You are doing a sterling job improving the readability of the articles. Who says that Baba deep singh killed Wazir khan. Well if there anything like this written in any of article you are supposed to delete it. Wazir Khan was killed by Banda Singh Bahadur when Banda singh bahadur attacked on sirhind aftermath of killing of Young Sahibzadas of guru gobind singh jee. Banda singh want to destroy Wazir khan and when banda singh attacked sirhind Banda singh was killed over there(its not sure banda singh or any other singh from that fightout killed wazir khan) but the credit goes to Banda Singh Bahadur. and its said Wazir khan was killed with an arrow and when arrow was moving towards wazir khan wazir khan last words was " Oh my god Guru's teer(arrow), from where it comes". Its said that that arrow was shooted by Banda Singh.

Conclusion Wazir khan was killed when Baba Banda SIngh attacked sirhind i dunno know date or year read from banda singh's article.

Baba Deep singh is not et all related with attcking on sirhind he is related with saving the pride of sikhism harimandir sahib when ahmed shah abdali durani attacked amritsar.

I think your problem is solved know that killing of wazir khan is not et all related to baba dep singh. thanks..........Lucky

nazarana

The word "nazar" means "sight", "view" or "darshan" - "blessing of the presence" of a respected person. So "nazarana" was a gift or money given to powerful people as a gift for just seeing them or for "having the sight of a great person". However, sometimes it was also levied as a "tax" under compulsion! - I not sure which one it was in this case - As a Sikh one hopes the first one as a voluntary gift! Hope this help. Jammu is named after Raja Jambulochan.It was Jambu slowly slowly it turned to Jammu. Kashmir is named after a Rishi,his name was Kashyap rishi,slowly it also turned to Kashmir. About Lahore and Poonch i have no knowledge about their name meaning,may be other users can answer better.

Mata Jito ji/ Mata Sundri ji

Thanks for the message regarding the mainpage - The history regarding the wife or wives of Guru Gobind Singh still remain unresolved - Original history recorded 2 wives but this was later corrected due to the misunderstanding and incorrect recording by the non-Sikh historians.

However, due to this confusion, all the material facts have not been property resolved including these dates - It will take a little time to resolve this one.

Original non-Sikh historians recorded that the young Sahibzade were the sons of Mata Jito ji who died in 1700 while I believe (not sure) that the older were the sons of Mata Sundri who survived GGS by many years. However, when it was realised that Mita Jito & Mata Sundri were the same, it created problems with some of the records. It is clear that these records have not been properly resolved and reconciled with known facts.

This raises questions about why Mata Jito/Mat Sundri was not with the young Sahibzade on evacuation from Anandpur sahib?

Adding photos

Adding photos is technically pretty easy. Before you can use a photo, you must first either have the photo on your computer or you need to download it from the net. Please be careful to observe copyright and acknowledge use from other Sikhi websites. Most Sikhi sites including SikhSangat.org should have no problem with using their images on SikhiWiki as we are a site for 'learning about Sikhi'. However, always acknowledge their pictures when you upload them and send an email to the webmaster at the Sikhi site to inform them of the use after you have managed to get the picture to work on SikhiWiki! I would not use images from non-Sikhi sites without explicit permission from the webmaster first.

1. To download from net, right click on the picture & then "save image". Place the picture in a safe known folder on your computer.

2. Then you will need to upload the picture to SikhiWiki, using the upload link in the bottom left panel of SikhiWiki. Please watch this tutorial first.

3. You will then need to display the picture in your article. This is also in the above tutorial but also look at this section on Wikipedia

Getting permission

Rediff.com is a very large organisation and I suspect that you will not get a response to your email. I would suggest that you email: [email protected], use the image with a sign "courtesy: Rediff.com". And await a response from the organisation. Also on the upload page put the exact url of where you have uploaded the page from and the statement:

On mm/dd/2007: Email sent asking permission; awaiting formal permission for use of this image; at present this image is being used under the "fair use policy".

I think this should be sufficient. If and when you get a response to your email, deal as appropriate.

Although presently Kutha is translated to Halaal meat, I have a feeling that may not be correct. The process involved in Halal meat is the slow killing and the reading of sacred text. A Sikh cannot object to the sacred text because our Gurus have correctly told us: "Do not say that the Vedas, the Bible and the Koran are false" (p1350) - so the objection can be to the slowing killing only. The result of slow killing is a lot of pain and then death.

I have read that even when a person is hanged, they suffer for many minutes before they die; apparently when you stop the blood to the brain, the brain still has feelings for a few minute before it dies.

A Sikh is against causing pain to another being - so it is up to the individual to decide how far they are prepared to go. The sakhi of Bhagat Sadhna is very revelling with regards to the long term (over life-cycles) aspect of this cruel practise.

I am glad that you have started on the path of vegetarianism - It is a clear sign that you care for others -even "mere" animals and also that you fear God! But I know that old habits are difficult to overcome. I am told by my parents that I stopped eating meat at the age of about 6 year after visiting a holy shrine and talking to the priests there. Many thanks goes to the priests there who at an early age were able to influence me; perhaps if I had not met them, I would have been the cause of many thousands of additional deaths on earth.

Most spiritually aware Sikhs, who have a full understanding of Gurbani and live the way of the Gurus advocate not eating meat. I like the quotation of Walden:

"Every creature is better alive than dead, men and moose and pine trees, and he who understands it aright will rather preserve its life than destroy it."

Well i am also finding the meaning of it, well i am a punjabi and these three words Haqiqat, Rah & Mauqam is also used in punjabi language, Haqiqat means Truth, Rah means Way, Maqam Means Destination or something reached at end we say that mauqam par puj gaya.

""Truth Way Destination"". Raja Shivnabh's Way to destination i.e truth or simply Raja Shivnabh's way to truth.

But if its another in persion arabic or sanskrit language then i think i dunno know
