(ਇਹ ਜਗਤ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੁੱਝੇ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ) ਇਕ ਖੇਡ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਲੋਕ ਹਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਨ ਲਈ) ਕਲਬੂਤ ਦੀ ਹਥਣੀ (ਬਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ); (ਉਸ ਹਥਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਕਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਾਥੀ ਫੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ (ਸਦਾ ਮਹਾਉਤ ਦਾ) ਅੰਕਸ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਹੇ ਝੱਲੇ ਮਨ! (ਤੂੰ ਭੀ ਮਨ-ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ।1।<br>

| ਹੇ ਝੱਲੇ ਮਨਾਂ! ਜਗਤ ਦੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਾਇਆ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੋਤਾ ਨਲਨੀ (ਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਹੇ ਕਮਲੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਸੁੰਭੇ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ (ਥੋੜੇ ਹੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ) ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ (ਚਾਰ ਦਿਨ ਲਈ ਹੀ) ਖਿਲਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।3।<br>

| ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਝੱਲੇ ਮਨਾਂ! (ਭਾਵੇਂ) ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਪੂਜਣ ਲਈ ਬਥੇਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲੋਕ ਕਈ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਪਰ (ਇਸ ਸਹਿਮ ਤੋਂ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ । ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ।4।1।6।57।

| ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਬੁੱਧਿ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਜਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਜਣ ਨਾਲ, ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਬੁੱਧਿ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ । ਅਸਲ ਭਗਤੀ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਮਹਾਨ ਤਪ । ਇਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰੋ । ਬੱਸ! ਇਹ ਨਾਚ ਨੱਚੋ '''(dance to the tune of spiritual notes)''' (ਰਾਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਚ ਨੱਚ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ-ਭਗਤੀ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਹੈ) ।1।<br>

| (ਪਰ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਇਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਤੇ ਬੋਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਜੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਜੋਂ) ਨਾਚ '''(dancing to the tunes of religious singing is worthless and propelled by ego)''' ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਸਾਜ ਭੀ ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਰਿਹਾ) । ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਬਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਭਟਕਣਾ (ਦਾ) ਝੱਖੜ ਝੁੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਅਜੇਹੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ) ਦੀਵਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਗ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ।1।

| ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਤਾਲ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ? (ਭਾਵ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਘੁੰਘਰੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ), ਕਿਉਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਬਾਬ (ਆਦਿਕ ਸਾਜ) ਵਜਾਂਦਾ ਫਿਰੇ? (ਇਹ ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਰਬਾਬ ਆਦਿਕ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ) ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਨ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਨਾ ਸਮਾ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ।1।<br>

| ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਆਤਮੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।7।<br>
