Kartarpur

Kartarpur (Gurmukhi: ਕਰਤਾਰਪ੝ਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ) may refer to -

• Kartarpur (Ravi) (30.92°N 72.78°E) - Place where Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith, ascended to his heavenly abode. This place is now situated in Pakistan only about 2Km. from the Indo-Pak border on the right bank of river Ravi. The shrine or Samadh of Guru Nanak stands out as there is no habitation around. There is a nearby railway connection which is named ‘Darbar Sahib Kartarpur’ on the Lahore-Chak Amru line. It lies in the tehsil Shakkar Garh district Narowal of West Punjab, about 60Km from Lahore.

• Kartarpur (Jalandhar) - ((31.4395°N 75.495°E) is a municipal town in India famous for its furniture industry. It lies 15 km northwest of Jallandar along Sher Shah Sun Marg in the Punjab. The town was founded by Guru Arjan in 1594 on land granted during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Guru Arjan's successor, Guru Hargobind, resided here too for some time. Two of his sons, Suraj Mall and Tegh Bahadur, were married at Kartarpur.
