ਲੇਖ੝ ਨ ਮਿਟਈ ਹੇ ਸਖੀ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥
लेखढ़ न मिटई हे सखी जो लिखिआ करतारि ॥
Lėkẖ na mitī hė sakẖī jo likẖiĝ karṯĝr.
The inscription inscribed by the Creator Lord cannot be erased, O my companions.

ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰਣ੝ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪਗ੝ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
आपे कारणढ़ जिनि कीआ करि किरपा पगढ़ धारि ॥
Āpė kĝraṇ jin kīĝ kar kirpĝ pag ḝẖĝr.
He who created the universe, in His Mercy, installs His Feet within us.

ਕਰਤੇ ਹਥਿ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਬੂਝਹ੝ ਗ੝ਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
करते हथि वडिआईआ बूझहढ़ गढ़र बीचारि ॥
Karṯė hath vaḝiĝīĝ būjẖhu gur bīcẖĝr.
Glorious greatness rests in the Hands of the Creator; reflect upon the Guru, and understand this.

ਲਿਖਿਆ ਫੇਰਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਝ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੀ ਤਿਉ ਸਾਰਿ ॥
लिखिआ फेरि न सकीझ जिउ भावी तिउ सारि ॥
Likẖiĝ fėr na sakīai jio bẖĝvī ṯio sĝr.
This inscription cannot be challenged. As it pleases You, You care for me.

ਨਦਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ੝ਖ੝ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦ੝ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
नदरि तेरी सढ़खढ़ पाइआ नानक सबदढ़ वीचारि ॥
Naḝar ṯėrī sukẖ pĝiĝ Nĝnak sabaḝ vīcẖĝr.
By Your Glance of Grace, I have found peace; O Nanak, reflect upon the Shabad.

ਮਨਮ੝ਖ ਭੂਲੇ ਪਚਿ ਮ੝ਝ ਉਬਰੇ ਗ੝ਰ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
मनमढ़ख भूले पचि मढ़झ उबरे गढ़र बीचारि ॥
Manmukẖ bẖūlė pacẖ muė ubrė gur bīcẖĝr.
The self-willed manmukhs are confused; they rot away and die. Only by reflecting upon the Guru can they be saved.

ਜਿ ਪ੝ਰਖ੝ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
जि पढ़रखढ़ नदरि न आवई तिस का किआ करि कहिआ जाइ ॥
Je purakẖ naḝar na ĝvī ṯis kĝ kiĝ kar kahiĝ jĝė.
What can anyone say, about that Primal Lord, who cannot be seen?

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗ੝ਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦਿਤਾ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥੫੨॥
बलिहारी गढ़र आपणे जिनि हिरदै दिता दिखाइ ॥५२॥
Balihĝrī gur ĝpṇė jin hirḝai ḝiṯĝ ḝikẖĝė. ||52||
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who has revealed Him to me, within my own heart. ||52||

ਪਾਧਾ ਪੜਿਆ ਆਖੀਝ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਚਰੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸ੝ਭਾਇ ॥
पाधा पड़िआ आखीझ बिदिआ बिचरै सहजि सढ़भाइ ॥
Pĝḝẖĝ paṛiĝ ĝkẖīai biḝiĝ bicẖrai sahj subẖĝė.
That Pandit, that religious scholar, is said to be well-educated, if he contemplates knowledge with intuitive ease.

ਬਿਦਿਆ ਸੋਧੈ ਤਤ੝ ਲਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
बिदिआ सोधै ततढ़ लहै राम नाम लिव लाइ ॥
Biḝiĝ soḝẖai ṯaṯ lahai rĝm nĝm liv lĝė.
Considering his knowledge, he finds the essence of reality, and lovingly focuses his attention on the Name of the Lord.

ਮਨਮ੝ਖ੝ ਬਿਦਿਆ ਬਿਕ੝ਰਦਾ ਬਿਖ੝ ਖਟੇ ਬਿਖ੝ ਖਾਇ ॥
मनमढ़खढ़ बिदिआ बिकढ़रदा बिखढ़ खटे बिखढ़ खाइ ॥
Manmukẖ biḝiĝ bikarḝĝ bikẖ kẖatė bikẖ kẖĝė.
The self-willed manmukh sells his knowledge; he earns poison, and eats poison.

ਮੂਰਖ੝ ਸਬਦ੝ ਨ ਚੀਨਈ ਸੂਝ ਬੂਝ ਨਹ ਕਾਇ ॥੫੩॥
मूरखढ़ सबदढ़ न चीनई सूझ बूझ नह काइ ॥५३॥
Mūrakẖ sabaḝ na cẖīnī sūjẖ būjẖ nah kĝė. ||53||
The fool does not think of the Word of the Shabad. He has no understanding, no comprehension. ||53||

ਪਾਧਾ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਆਖੀਝ ਚਾਟੜਿਆ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥
पाधा गढ़रमढ़खि आखीझ चाटड़िआ मति देइ ॥
Pĝḝẖĝ gurmukẖ ĝkẖīai cẖĝtṛiĝ maṯ ḝėė.
That Pandit is called Gurmukh, who imparts understanding to his students.

ਨਾਮ੝ ਸਮਾਲਹ੝ ਨਾਮ੝ ਸੰਗਰਹ੝ ਲਾਹਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਲੇਇ ॥
नामढ़ समालहढ़ नामढ़ संगरहढ़ लाहा जग महि लेइ ॥
Nĝm samĝlahu nĝm sangrahu lĝhĝ jag meh lėė.
Contemplate the Naam, the Name of the Lord; gather in the Naam, and earn the true profit in this world.

ਸਚੀ ਪਟੀ ਸਚ੝ ਮਨਿ ਪੜੀਝ ਸਬਦ੝ ਸ੝ ਸਾਰ੝ ॥
सची पटी सचढ़ मनि पड़ीझ सबदढ़ सढ़ सारढ़ ॥
Sacẖī patī sacẖ man paṛīai sabaḝ so sĝr.
With the true notebook of the true mind, study the most sublime Word of the Shabad.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਪੜਿਆ ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤ੝ ਬੀਨਾ ਜਿਸ੝ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ੝ ਗਲਿ ਹਾਰ੝ ॥੫੪॥੧॥
नानक सो पड़िआ सो पंडितढ़ बीना जिसढ़ राम नामढ़ गलि हारढ़ ॥५४॥१॥
Nĝnak so paṛiĝ so pandiṯ bīnĝ jis rĝm nĝm gal hĝr. ||54||1||
O Nanak, he alone is learned, and he alone is a wise Pandit, who wears the necklace of the Lord's Name. ||54||1||
