Zirakpur is a town and a nagar panchayat in Mohali district in the Indian state of Punjab. It is located near the state capital, Chandigarh. It is on the Chandigarh - Delhi highway and just south of the city. It is a couple of kilometers from the Chandigarh airport. Driving to Zirakpur from Delhi there is a right turn to go to Panchkula and onward to Simla. And a left turn to Patiala. Panchkula is 5 k.m. from Zirakpur.

Historical

The town is als historical as guru gobind singh, Dargahi Shah, Peer budhu Shah, guru Tegh Bahadur, bhai Jaita is linked with zirakpur n villages nearby. The famous historical sikh shrines present over here are Gurudwara Nabha Sahib & Gurudwara Puddha Sahib

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, GR India Zirakpur had a population of 25,006. Males constitute 57% of the population and females 43%. Zirakpur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 56%. In Zirakpur, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
