Veer ji,

Thanks for the message. Will wait for your signal. Please take your time. I will also like to keep the history intact so that readers can see the efforts made by you since this website was setup. So I will look at all these options and we will decide once you have done a full backup of all relevant user related pages. I suggest that you do not delete anything and leave that to me as I may redirect to your "old" talk page so that we still have that intact, etc, etc.
Many thanks for the message. I have just setup a redirect to Sikhism and Ritualism which I think covers much of what "Bharam" refers to. The other redirects from "Superstition" and from "Rituals", etc were a little messed-up and I have amended those as well.

Another thing, we are coming to India next month and it will be great if some of us can get together for a meal together and have a long chat. Please send me an email at [email protected] and we can discuss this more. I hope you will not be too busy in late November.
I suggest that we make more additions to this page or use this as a starting point if you wish to start a new page.

Many thanks for the message. All is well with Guru's blessings. I hope you too are keeping in chardikala.

I have had many messages from user:Allenwalla who is having multiple problems with Captcha security screen interrupting even when he does small edits and then logging him out. I have just reported this with your problems to Gurumustuk Singh (GMS).  This is an on-going issue as I too had some issues with the system last week. I believe that this has all come about due to the latest update to the Mediawiki database software.

The Unicode corruption has also been highlighted but we have not found a solution apart from re-entry - which will be too onerous. I have suggested a few other options and I am waiting for a response. I believe that GMS is on holiday in Florida with his parents and so it may take a little while to resolve these issues. I will keep you posted but it seems a sensible precaution to do the editing in Wordpad and saving this locally before transferring to Sikhiwiki; this is a sensible precaution until we have resolved all the pending issues about the reliability of the system.

We have just managed to retrieve the uncorrupted version of Sikhiwiki from October 2011. I am doing some Wiki export of the pages to a backup and hopefully we will have most of the corruption resolved in the next few days.

Can I suggest that you do this posting of Punjabi quotes after we have a recovered version of the database in the next few days. I will send you a message when the recovery is complete. I hope this will be OK. Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 18:40, 15 January 2012 (CST)

Veer ji, Hope all is well.
I have no objections to any of these 2 articles as long as we are not causing any duplication of work that may already be on the database. Please go ahead and create these articles.

We have reverted back to the data as at 19 October 2011 and updated with all the articles from then to today (16 January 2012) morning time.
Many thanks for your continued interest and dedication. Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 13:43, 23 April 2012 (CDT)

Can you please check to see if all your recent work is intact; also most of the Gurmukhi Unicode characters will now display correctly apart from the updated articles containing Unicode. I will amend these manually by looking at the last version of the article which will correctly display the Unicode characters.

Veer ji,
Veer ji,

This was in protest to the proposed laws called SOPA & PIPA in the USA. If these become law, we would have to guarantee that all the external links at Sikhiwiki were pointing to legal, non-copyrighted material at all times. Even if one of these links pointed to a copyrighted photo, music, video, etc then the authorities in the USA can automatically block our site even if we based outside USA!
Yes, disambiguation is part of a wiki and we should use it for words and names where there is no clear predominate leader - For Example: Gobind should not come under disambiguation as we have a clear winner with Guru Gobind Singh. But for other words and names where we have multiple articles, then we need to create a disambiguation page.

This would pose a serious risk to Sikhiwiki as this is an automatic process without legal intervention. It would probabaly mean an end of our site as no one can monitor each external link all the time. So if the link content were changed after we had setup the link, we would still be deemed to be guilt by some US citizen!
However, we only need to do this if we have multiple names or words with articles already on our wiki. If we do not have articles then we should wait until we can create these multiple articles and then join them via a dis-ambiguous page.

Photos of slaughtering animals have been removed - this practise is against Gurbani
----

Veer ji,
Veer ji, {WKWF

No. References to books is perfectly OK. This will never be a problem and we should encourage references to books. However, direct links to other websites could have become a serious problem.
The photos of Sikhs slaughtering animals have been removed - this practise is against Gurbani. A few Gurdwaras in the UK also practise anti-Sikhi rituals like this but I do not think SikhiWiki is here to promote anti-Gurbani practises. Please do not help to promote any anti-Gurmat rituals here. The site is here to give people the true meaning of the message of Guru Nanak - not how some Sikhs are disobeying this message.

And in particular, when we put links to other websites or to online kirtan which may be infringing copyright - either now or sometimes in the future when the webmaster at the other site changes the content without our knowledge.
Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 11:11, 14 November 2012 (CST)

Luckily, I believe the Wikipedia protest has been successful and the 2 bills in the USA have been put on-hold. However, if these did become law then we would be at serious risk of being barred by the USA authorities as they control the internet and most of the common domains.
:: Yes, i found second picture is not Fine as it was Ritual slaughtering but first one was Fine because it was not showing ritual slaughter but food is hanged simply like killed Potato, carrot or Reddish. Still, it is our duty to show these faces of Sikhism too that Ritual Slaughtering which was condemned, is prevalent in this form. If you can keep article of Deras, Anti Sikh people then why not these pictures? <br><br>Secondly, stop speaking that The site is here to give people the true meaning of the message of Guru Nanak - not how some Sikhs are disobeying this message. Don't be egoistic being a Nanak Panthi and always include every Gurmukh in your lines. Do you feel that other Bhagats, Bhatts, have separate message then Nanak? Moreover, Many Bhagats were born before Nanak and spread Gurmat around. May be you haven't talked in the way i have taken but try to a collective noun rather then picking single Bhagat out of 36. Thirdly, Promotion is other thing, what i did was not promotion. Was you promoted to do Jhatka? Well i feel Ritual Slaughtering is nice strike from your side. So for now, we do not have to worry but may be we should review how we protect ourselves in future. We need to work on this for the future as the work that has been done on this site is too valuable to be put at such a risk. One safety would be to publish this as a book so that the website is saved for future generations. We will have to develop thoughts on this in the next few months.

We have to respect copyrights of original works. However, we can upload a "sample" of the original works for reviewing purposes and also as may be necessary to write a review of an article.

If we use an image, insert a narrative to show the source - in most cases this should protect us as we are a charity offering free education and not a commercial venture making a profit from the use of the picture.
Veerji, Gurfateh.

The other option is to ask for permission from the original creator of the work and most Sikh originators will grant permission for the education of the masses about the message of Sikhi.
Firstly, please use the template 2 as you like - putting it into the original one seems a better option and then delete number 2.

What image did you have in mind?
Secondly, on the critic of Sikhi, it is better to cover this concept in different and separate articles as that way we can keep the different aspects of the issue in separate compartment and that will make it easier to control and monitor the articles.

Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 13:10, 4 February 2012 (CST)
We need to cover the general concept in the main article and then have the criticism concept covered in greater details in a separate article just as you have done. So the article on Dasam Granth should not deal with its critics but just about what it is, chapters and banis, its history, concepts covered, etc. The linked article which could be named 'Criticism of Dasam Granth' would deal with only this particular aspect.

It is great news to hear about your visit to the historical shrine - Gurdwara Nanaklama Sahib, a great blessing indeed. I hope you will give us a full account of your visit so that we too can enjoy your experience as well.
Veer Ji, WKWF

Veer ji, Guru sahib was only there for a little while, so their customs there will be entirely different but nevertheless it was a special place for the Guru to have chosen to visit it.
With Waheguru's blessings, I'm well; many thanks for asking. I hope you too are in chardikala.

Please do share your experience and we can discuss how best to incorporate it into the article page. I look forward to your detailed comments about the place.
We have been unable to automatically correct the Unicode corruption. Unfortunately, at present, we only have the option of fixing this manually. I have found no one who has the expertise to do this automatically. I have a feeling that there would be a way but at present we have not been able to find anyone who has been able to help.

I will review the issues that you have highlighted with this page and other pages connected to castes. However, I would like to share the fact that I was never too happy giving these pages prominence on SikhiWiki as caste should never play a dominant part in Sikhi. I remember that some of these pages highlighted various historic personalities under their "caste" - this is something which does not hold any importance to Sikhs. Just like God has no religion, Sikhs have no caste!

Many thanks for your message. With Waheguru's grace all is well and I hope the same applies to you as well. No plans yet for a trip to India' may be next year with the Guru's blessings.
I will revert back to you after I have had time to look at all the pages.

Regarding the above, no worries if you are using photos created by you - these have no restrictions - you can use them freely at SikhiWiki.

Veer ji, SSA
I have got your message. I too have a slight issue with this but I can still manage. I will pass this to the technical people and revert back soon.

You have been part of Sikhiwiki for a long time and I am sure you will agree that any point that is controversial will require quotations and even more - the quotations will have to be credible. On the one hand we have Gurbani which is known to be genuine and unpolluted while on the other hand we have historical records which have no real track record. We cannot depend on unreliable quotes to teach the cyber sangat about Gurmat!

Any disputed or controversial issue will need to be vetted so that it passes the test of genuineness. Further, if you are trying to go in the opposite direction of Gurbani, that is simply not acceptable. We can all have our personal habits, etc but we cannot back these views with unreliable quotations.
Kind regards,

If eating meat is allowed in Gurmat, why stop there? How about cannibalism? In your opinion, does Gurbani say anything about this? The position conveyed by this article is against Gurmat and also against new scientific evidence; it is simply not acceptable as it stands.
