Koom Singh Doad (great grandfather of my great grandfather)
He was the son of a Hindu called Ghomandi. In the wake of parchaar by Akali Phoola Singh Ji in the Doaba area he took amrit from Akali Phoola Singh Ji. He was one of the first Sikhs in our village. He became a Nihang in their Jatha and were very rehitvaan. He was rewarded 1000 rs by the Nihangs for his bravery (in that time, it was equal to hundreds of thousands rupees). From Koom Singh till my great grandfather, each generation was amritdhari. Sadly my grandfather used to cut his beard in youth. Now he has full beard tho. But no amritdhari since then.
(Note: Doaba is the area of Punjab which is the most backward in terms of Sikhi. Hardly any Guru did parchar in the area (as most Gurus were settled in Majha area) or any other Sikh. Akali Baba Phoola Singh was one of the first to do parchaar in Doaba area.)
