The short beard
Haven't seen the film, but interesting that the big objection was to the trimmed beard and not to the fact, unmentioned, that the hero is so clumsy (doing Stupid things?) that a whole village buys plane tickets just to get rid of him. Hard for me to believe that this can be a positive portrayal. And they send him after a don (a gangster or goonda King as in the Sanjay Dutt film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.). why would they want Lucky back, perhaps Lucky wasn't a Sikh. And would the village fool not be smart enough to see through this plan. I will have to see the film maybe then I can understand what Sarbjeet ji is talking about (who are the orthodox Sikhs) and why this can be seen as a positive role. I guess the problem also lies with the Sikhs who are highly noticeable in the public domain. All the sikhs be it harbhajan singh, daler mehndi, malkit singh...all of them are trimmers. So, non-sikhs sometime have the opinion that trimming of beard is a usual practice in sikhs---which is very wrong.
There was only ray of hope in the form of sabat surat Ishmeet Singh but god took that away from us.
In fact, Harbhajan Singh should seek lesson from Monty panesar who being from UK and living in western culture has a full beard.
