{reflist} problem.

So the issue is that you have to login to sikhwiki to view the {reflist}, otherwise you are unable to see it.

Can someone help fix it?

Thank you. --Gaganji 06:43, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Controversy about Dasam Granth

Dear All

I would ask everyone not to get involved in the controversy about the authenticity of parts of the Dasam Granth that has continued in the media for many decades. We know that our Guru is Guru Granth Sahib - The holy Granth offers sufficient guidance for most people to last their life time; so unless you are an academic studying the Dasam Granth; please do not get involved in this discussion on SikhiWiki as this is not the right platform for such things.

This article is to inform others about the person, Professor Darshan Singh Khalsa and not to put fuel on the fire of this controversy. It will be much appreciated if all users can try and take this line; I will be most grateful to you. Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 14:04, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Re to Hari Singh Ji

Dear Sir

Sikhiwiki is an informative website which deals with true information. We all know that Guru Granth Sahib is our Guru. but it doesn't mean that someone will point finger to other granths of sikhism. they have pointed Dasam Granth then they will point Janamsakhis then Rehatnamas then you never know Guru Granth Sahib too.

Ok Ok i don't have academic study on Dasam Granth Sahib or this person but Wiki websites are purely based on References and How this man So called Darshan Singh could preach such things? The persons who even kicked Akal takhat Hukmnamas many times. When we talk about Aurangzeb we also write his Negative impact on Sikhism so how could we leave such person? Reliable and established information on Sikhi

Dear Lucky ji,

Many thanks for your comments. I accept that Sikhiwiki is a site to provide information about Sikhi but at the same time we are not a research paper; we cannot get involved in controversies about each and every piece of information on the various "sacred writings" and history about our faith; also this is not a newspaper.

We are here to provide only established and confirmed Sikh beliefs and history that has been accepted by the whole of the panth. We are about giving a positive and consistent message of Guru Nanak and not about creating a rift in the panth; or creating doubt in the sangat. The central message of Sikhi is in the Guru Granth Sahib; really, that is the only message that we need to convey to the cyber-sangat.

In deciding any question ask yourself what Guru Nanak would have wanted done; follow only that answer that you get from this analysis. We do not need to give a blow-by-blow detail of every controversy talking place about matters at the fringes of our beliefs and not of real interest to a practising Sikh.

There are a huge amount of issues in the sacred Granth which we have not covered; why go on to the Dasam Granth which was never given any status by any Sikh Guru when a lot of work remains to be done yet in relation of the holy Granth. The Sikh only believes in the writings in the Granth as his or her true spiritual living Guru. If there is doubt about any point mentioned in the holy Granth, then you may refer to the other texts; Dasam Granth; Bhai Gurdas. Bhai Nand Lal, etc. Tell me, what points are there in life where the Guru Granth has not provided an answer?

Further, in my opinion, Bhai Gurdas ji's varan have a higher value as Guru Arjan Dev vetted them as "the key" to the holy Granth. Gurbani was honoured by every Guru; the Granth was respected by all Gurus since its creation by Guru Arjan Dev; Guru Gobind Singh told us the it was the "living Guru" from 1708 onwards. Now which Guru has said anything about the Dasam Granth? None! In fact it was created after 1708; there is no reliable records and so I believe that it would be dangerous for a Sikh to get too involved in this controversy. In fact there is no need to get involved at all; it is an academic struggle for research scholars and should be left for them only.

However; wrongly, it appears to be drawing interest from all sorts of people - people who are looking for something new even when there house is full to the brim. The Gurus call Gurbani "the jewel of life"; why look elsewhere; everything is in the holy Granth; seek it there!

So for us non-academics, the right thing to do is to let the academics carry on with their research. Whatever is decided will have little effect on any practising Sikh as the status of the Dasam Granth can never be enhanced as the holy Granth was by our Gurus; the dasam granth is a compilation of the Sikhs; not a compilation by the Gurus; the first granth was created by the Gurus during their time physically here on earth; the dasam granth was created after them; so this second granth will never have that same "seal of the Guru". Should we then be getting diverted by this debate? Sorry if I have said anything hurtful; it not meant to be negative. Forgive me and please correct me. Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 09:17, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Reply

Sir Ji, There is nothing to hurt in your reply, you said let academics carry on with there research and we should follow Guru Granth Sahib only.

But if this research da silsila will not end then We will not able to read Jaap sahib(Dasam Granth), Tav Parsaad, Chopayi Sahib etc.

Even we would not tell our friends with sure that GUru Gobind Singh wrote Zafarnama.

Guru Granth Sahib is Guru but Dasam Granth is also prestigious Granth of Panth.

If you think it an academic struggle then i think we should stop Ardas too, we should stop singing ""Mittar Pyare nu"".

these people are doing academics on Dasam Granth one day they will start this with GUru Granth Sahib too. (Lucky 17:49, 11 December 2009 (UTC

=PROOF AND REFERENCES?

Is there any proof that the 'Hukumnama declaring him tankhaiya was made before hand by GS Lamba. Later Akal Takht Sahib added date and signatures. ' as stated in the article? Why is sikhiwiki allowing these comments made without references? We can all watch the episodes on jus punjabi tv with the akal takath jathedar, sardar gurcharanjit singh lamba. we all know prof darshan was allowed to clear his points but he didnt. please show references!
