In my Hippie protest days, i had a 'Black' female friend who when approached one day by a "white' girl who said, "hey coloured girl how you doin."

My friend barked back, "who are you calling coloured, you're pink."

People were so blind to racism in our language that the crayons i played and drew with when i was a child were labeled flesh (pink). The crayon color is no longer made or so labeled. Surprised to learn that even Shah Rukh Khan has recently endorsed a brand of lightening cream in India.
