It appears that this term is used for both the 40 Sikhs who first gave "badava" (resigned as Guru's Sikhs) and then returned with [[Mai Bhago]] AND also for the 40 who attained martyrdom at [[Chamkaur Sahib]] with the 2 Sahibzadas. Khalsa ji, please see the following article at The Sikh Encyclopedia: thesikhencyclopedia.com. It appears that this term is used for both the 40 Sikhs who first gave "badava" (resigned as Guru's Sikhs) and then returned with Mai Bhago AND also for the 40 who attained martyrdom at Chamkaur Sahib with the 2 Sahibzadas.
