Previous Interpretations

Faridkotiya Teeka

Faridkotiya Teeka says that when Ram was thrown out of Ayodhya and When seeta was taken by ravan and when laxman felt uncouncious then Ram wept.

Professor Sahib Singh

Prof. Sahib Singh just written the above line that when Ram was thrown out of city and Seeta Laxman when Seperated then Ram also wept.

Problems With Interpretations

There are technical problems and historical problems in previous both explanantion which are embraced by most of the sikh scholars due to negligence, or can say they don't care of these lines because it is felt that main theme of this Shabad is just ) O Nanak, the whole world is suffering. but the shabad clear many facts of spirituality which was uncovered by even english translator see what they are translating

Sant Singh Khalsa:

Rama wept when he was sent into exile, and separated from Sita and Lakhshman.

Bhai Manmohan Singh

Rama wept when he was exiled, and got separated from Sita and Lachhman.

Let's Understand The Shabad:

1) The first word is ਰੋਵੈ, which is Present Continous Test(Not Past), it means STILL WEEPING(Ro Reha Hai). 2) Ram: In Gurbani Ram is attributed as Inner Soul which due to our tangle is present in this world as is not one with God. 3) ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਭਇਆ : It is thrown out from Sachkhand

Ram is Still Weeping because he is exiled from Sachkhand. Now the next line speaks itself that this is not related to any Ramchandra and have no relation with Ramayan.

1) Seeta and Laxman went to Exile with Ram. 2) Seeta was seperated when ravan taken her away 3) Laxman was not seperated till they come back to ayodhya, when he was uncouncious he was not seperated at that time too.

So they both were not seperated from Ram during Excile. HIstorically this point is wrong, In Valmiki Ramayana, In Ram CHaritar Manas they were all together during Ram went to exile

then what is Seeta? and What is Lakhman? here.

In Gurbani, Buddhi is wife of inner soul, the way Ram guide the way Buddhi do, but if Shyam = Krishna = Mann = Lakhman guides then Buddhi always do wrong(Manmatt). In Gurbani many times Budhi is said Wife of inner soul. This is defination of Inner World. Seeta if Sewn with Ram will follow gurmat but if sewn with Laxman = Mann is Manmatt.

In Above lines Seeta is away from Ram and Laxman is away from Ram.

In Human, when no knowledge of inner soul is there then Buddhi always with Mann(Soul). Then Seeta and Laxman becomes one.

So Inner Soul is Weeping, Yelling at Mann/mind/Brain that come to home, because he too is thrown out of Sachkhand and reson of his thrown out is nothing but SEETA(BUDHI) and LAXMAN(MANN) is seperated.

This is Gurmatical Meaning of these terms
