Army Staff Sgt. Paul S. Pabla Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 23, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; assigned to the Army National Guard's 139th Field Artillery, Kempton, Ind.; died July 3 in Mosul, Iraq, of injuries sustained from enemy small-arms fire during combat operations.[1]

He died on Monday, July 3, 2006 from injuries sustained in an attack in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. Mr. Pabla was a 2000 graduate of Huntington North High School and attended Ball State University from 2001-2003. During his years in high school he was active in Campus Life and the College Park Church Youth Group and participated in a short-term missions work tour to Honduras. He joined the Indiana Army National Guard in November 1999. He was deployed to Iraq in January of 2006 and had attained the rank of staff sergeant and was assigned to the 2-150th Field Artillery. He enjoyed running, cycling, music and photography. He had a special interest in learning to speak numerous foreign languages. He was born on July 10, 1982 in Huntington, Indiana to Sarvjit S. and Lisa A. (Carroll) Pabla.[2] [3]
