It is a Gurdwara In memory of Sixth Gur Sri Gur Hargobind sahib Ji. Gurdwara is in Loh Garh Fort (lit. fort of steel) which was built by Sri gur Hargobind Sahib Himself situated at about one km to the northwest of Harimandar, constructed for the defence of the town. The main battle of Amritsar between the Gurū and an imperial force under Mukhlis Khĝn in May 1629 was fought here. The present Gurdwĝrĝ stands on the ruined mound of the fort, which was razed by Ahmad Shĝh Durrĝnī during one of his invasions in the mid-eighteenth century. The nearby gate in the city wall constructed by Mahĝrĝjĝ Raṇjīt Siṅgh is also known as Lohgarh Gate.
