A Gurdwara In memory of Sixth Gur Sri Gur Hargobind sahib Ji, is located where Lohgarh Fort (lit. Steel Fort (fort)), built by Guru Hargobind Sahib, once stood. Situated at about one km to the northwest of the Harimandar Sahib, the fort was constructed for the defence of the town.

The main battle of Amritsar between the Gurū and an imperial force under Mukhlis Khĝn in May 1629 was fought here. The present Gurdwĝrĝ stands on the ruined mound of the fort, which was razed by Ahmad Shĝh Durrĝnī during one of his invasions in the mid-eighteenth century. The nearby gate in the city wall constructed by Mahĝrĝjĝ Raṇjīt Siṅgh is also known as Lohgarh Gate.
