Gurdwaras:

Refers to the places of worship for the Sikhs. See Gurdwara

There are many thousands of Gurdwara in the World. Wherever the Sikhs go, their places of worship are soon constructed. Many thousands of Sikh Gurdwaras can be found in India, especially in major cities and in Punjab province where Sikhism was founded.

During the late 1800's and early 1900's, the Sikh people emigrated from the Punjab to various British colonies and so many hundreds of their places of worship are to be found in East Africa, South East Asia and Britain.

As the second and third generation of these Sikh emigrants spread into the 'New World', Gurdwaras can now be found in large numbers in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
