Outline

  • Location Sadar Bazar,Delhi Cantt, New Delhi-110010 .Gurdwara Map
  • A typical local Gurdwara of Delhi. Follows traditional routines, e.g. Langar every Sat is a major event for committee & participants. Has no will to educate, affirm & propagate 'Sikh Faith, Gurbani, Gurmat' & it's modern connotations.
  • Secretary exercising absolutely centralized managerial control stays reluctant to admit modern tools & techniques into the now outdated running of the institution. No formal record of Sikhs associated with the institution are known to exist.

Special Prachar

  • . Rahiras evening routine starts with Rahiras followed by Keertan.
  • . Keertan by 3 GurSevaks. Standard traditional pair of Harmoniums supported by Tabla makes the team.
  • . Aarti by GurSevaks. only one or two listeners are there for both the events.
  • . Katha from Suraj Prakash Granth. The environment changes just short of this main event. The congregation suddenly swells to 50 to 60, mainly old ladies & gentlemen .
The Effect. In contrast to GurMat's Rahiras & Keertan, the environment :is now soaked in reverence & concentration. A sentence by sentence singing from the granth in traditional melodious voice of :a lady followed by it's detailed word by word translation & due :amplification by head GurSevak in his own/taught perception of the theme (this seems to be his special qualification for being on the senior most spiritual seat of the Gurdwara) touches every heart. The Katha is a standing routine.
  • . Nanak's Japuji If only they could Listen to Japuji & replace the Katha with that from DARPAN. One dare not even suggest it to Gurdwara Management. The Spiritual dedication of the management & that of the the listeners alike, to Suraj Prakash Granth, is is awe inspiring.
