Gurdwara Daroli Bhai

Daroli Bhai Ki is a village located about 14 kilometers west of Moga in Moga district. This was the place where Baba Gurditta the first son of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji and his wife Mata Damodari was born in 1613.

According to local folklore a woman named "Daroli Bai" who was once a dancer with the Mughals was rewarded some land for her talent.

It is said that the women lore of Patti (Street) Kamaal did enormous sewa of the 6th guru and menfolk did not. Guru ji became so happy with the bhagti of these women that he blessed the women of this Patti and said that the women of Patti Kamaal will always rule in their families (as told to me by my grandmother).

This village has has four majestic gurudwaras. Gurdwara Baba Gurditta ji a.k.a Gurdwara Daroli Bhai on Patti Kamal, one more historical place in the village and two gurdwaras on the outskirts of the village. It is beleived that if one prays to Baba Gurditta ji with true heart, the wish is always fulfilled. Dhan Dhan Baba Gurditta, deen duni da tikka , jo var mangaya so var ditta.

Gurudwara Mata Damodari ji is on the outskirts of the village and is built at the place where hte last of Mata Damodari ji last remains were buried. After Operation BlueStar in 1984 , when Sikhs continued to believe that Sant Bhindrawale is alive and will come back so, a continuous series of Akhand paaths was started at this gurudwara which would be stopped only when he comes back. Paaths are subdivided into Kotris and one kotri is approx continuous 1000 akhand paths. Last time I visited the place in 2003 the continuous paaths were still on. However, I am not sure about the current status of the belief of the sangat in the village.

Another gurudwara near Gurdwara mata Damodari ji is the dera of some saint who is also highly respected by the Sikhs of the area.
