The river [[Chenab]] after travelling in serpentine manner for hundereds of kilometers in Himachal Pradesh and pir panjal range of J&K.   Before Akhnoor Town  there is a fort located overlooking the river.The Fort was started in 1762 AD at the behest of Raja Tegh SinghHis son Alam Singh completed the fort in 1802.

Akhnoor Fort



Akhnoor town (32° 54' N; 74° 45' E) is situated on the right bank of the river Chenab 28 Km South-west of Jammu in the foothills of the Pir Panjal range in the Jammu and Kashmir state of India. After the River leaves Akhnoor it debouches into the plains of Jammu.
