why we cover our head when we go to gurdwara..???

The turban is worn or the head is covered in a Gurdwara or when visiting a [{Sant]] or other senior religious person in Sikhi out of respect for the person or Gurbani.

If we appear without a shirt at work, it will not go down too well. Similarly, as most Sikhs and other religious people kept long hair, it was normal to comb it and then cover it so that one was properly "dressed up." Without covering the head, the hair would be untidy and probably "flying everywhere" and get dirty very quickly due to the dust in rural Punjab in the olden days.

Please also read the shabads at Gurbani and the turban. Kind regards, Hari Singhtalk 22:53, 2 November 2010 (EDT)
