During my teaching career, as a lecturer of English Literature, for more than two decades, I often sought help of the ancient scriptures and Holy Books to give certain references to my students. 'Word' being the most important thing in my life, I found only Shri Guru Granth Sahibji, the only scripture in this chaotic world, that gives importance to 'word'.

Sometimes, my students ask me, "Sir,why do you read sciptures from other religions?"

I answer, "Holy scriptures don't only belong to a particular community. I am also a Sikh, which means disciple, a learner, but I might not be the Amrit Dhari Singh of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Maharaj."

Then I see a kind of delight on their faces because most of them happen to be Hindu background.

I am proud to say that I have gone through 1430 pages of Shri Guru Granth Sahibji, three times in my life, but I still feel that I have received only one or two percent of the divine nectar. It is not to say that I have not read other scriptures. I have read most of the prevailing scriptures indiscriminately not because I wanted to find faults with them but because I wanted to absorb as much nectar as I could.

I am very happy to be here on Sikhi Wiki. I have been listening to Shabad Kirtan for more than two decades and today, while listening to Professor Darshan Singhji, I found a link to this venerable site.

I wish you all the best in life of dignity and purity.

God bless you all.
