Respected Vishawjit Singh Ji

Bhai Sahib Ji

Welcome to SikhiWiki,

I am no expert and do not have any merit to become a teacher. We are all students of the mighty Guru Granth Sahib ji. Only through the guidance of our Guru can be entangle the mysterious of the world.

Bhai Sahib ji, you are most welcome to the monumental projected start by Ash Singh and Sikhnet. We hope that with Waheguru's kirpa, the message of the Guru can be conveyed through this channel.

It's good to know that you are a fan of Gurmat and you have an urge to spread the Guru's word. What I suggest is that you start one or two new articles on the subjects within Sikhism that you hold dear. We can then work on these together as I will keep an eye on the "Recent Changes" page every few days. Once these pages are complete then we can "link" them to the rest of Sikhiwiki database.

Hyper-Linking: The other thing that need to be done is routine work of "hyper-linking" the important Sikhi words in the database. If from the main page, you go to "Special Pages" and then "Long Pages", click on some of the pages like Early Canadian Sikh History. You will find that we can hyper-link some of the words that exist in the database. A few occurrences of the word Sikh can have the 2 square brackets inserted so a new user can quickly look at the exact meaning of the word '"Sikh" by using the linking facility of SikhiWiki.

Missing Text on Short Pages If you look at "Special Pages" and then "Short Pages", some of these pages have no information. Do a "Google Search" on these terms and create a short article from the information from the web by combing all the information that you can find on to these pages. Also, you can find several sites which have excellent articles on Sikhi – use these to create new text. Try this site: globalsikhstudies.net It may have something that you find interesting that you can create in SikhiWiki.

I hope this gives you some direction. Please keep in touch either through the Discussion page or by using the email facility on my user page Hari Singh

Gurmat

Dear Vishawjit Singh Ji, WKWF

Thank you for responding – delay cannot be helped in our busy lives!!

I agree that we are all full of vices and very few virtues – hence we are going thro reincarnation.

The definition of Gurmat can take a whole life time – So I don't think I can explain in a few words. If you read a little Gurbani regularly, the message will begin to get thro.

Simran and Sewa is the foundation of Sikhi – see Category:Philosophy Spirituality and Ethics and as such mandatory for a Sikh.

Simran is essentially described at Simran but can be summarised as the constant acknowledgement of Waheguru by remembering his name.

I do not read radical writers as they take me away from my Guru. I will only read articles by people who have love for the Guru. So I have not read Gurbaksh Singh.

Many organisations are a strength for us and not a weakness - just like our body has different organs doing different things. Don't worry about so many organisations – it is a good thing as long as they work for the common goal!!

To step forward in Sikhi – Regularly and with love do Simran & Sewa daily. It does not matter how little. Even if you spent 5 minutes everyday – that will be a good foundation. The 3 pillars of Guru Nanak – Naam Jaap (good sangat); Kirit Karne (work honestly & hard) and Vand kay shakna (share with others). Fight the 5 vices – kam, krodh, lobh, moh & ahankar. Live by the 5 vitues: sat, santokh, daya, Nimrata and pyare.

I hope this helps, --Hari Singh 07:38, 13 February 2006 (Central Standard Time)

GO! Mutias GO!

Jo Deekhy gur sikhda niv niv.............

  • 1. Dear Jeet, Universe opens up if we associate with Gurmukhs. Personally I see you as a young bubbling Khalsa full of zeal more than what is required to climb Himalayas without oxygen & implements. Offer all this explosive power to no one, but Shabad Guru.
  • 2. May GOD keep all you Mutias enslaved to GurMat & Shabad Guru . Why don't you people put your GurSeva Jatha on SikhiWiki. It is an opportunity straight from GOD. Beg strength from GOD to grab it.
  • 3. SikhiWiki is waiting for your introduction on YOUR OWN page. Rest on meeting in person WKWF !

I Agree

Dear Mutia-3, WaKhaFa !

  • . 1. Thanks for sharing your frank & most personal thoughts with all SikhiWiki users. I am so glad & agree with you in totality that 'EGO' is the first thing to discarded, if one seeks to meet Lord TRUTH. Next step will be to tell us about your profile on your own user page.
  • . 2. Writing on SikhiWiki is very easy. If you have a TRUE IDEA, first give it a name, then start writing about all aspects of that 'NAME' . Like I edited & gave a Name to your Letter which you wrote to me. This name will become the Title of the essay (SikhiWiki loves to call it 'Article'.)
  • . 3. Write short sentences & short text blocks giving each block a name . A typical example could be something like  :-
(a) Para, text tt t t t t t t t tt t t t t t
(i) Sub Para text t t t t t t t t t t t t
(aa)Sub-Sub Para text t tt t t t t tttt t tt t
Sub-Sub-Sub Para ............etc.
  • . 4. Let Scholars Handle. Personal, Political , Controversial & NON SIKH issues are best left to scholars. Though SikhiWiki does not really put any rigid restrictions , permit me to say that, we must confine our self only to GURMAT & SIKH History).
  • . 5.Kill them. Do not let your stray thoughts show up in your Article. Display your paras individually & neatly giving each individual block of writing a serial No. Each para must carry a thought linked up with previous one & so on.
  • . 6. GURMAT Your views on GURMAT are very dear to us. Make an effort to share them with all of Users. Do make a beginning by writing a GURMAT or SIKH History Article .
  • . 7. I shall keep my eyes focused to supplementing / editing your work. If Japuji expects us to CRAFT & SHARE TRUE IDEAs. Every truthful educated Sikh must listen to & believe in this fundamental commandment of Lord TRUTH or be accountable in Lord TRUTH's Court.
  • . 8. Listen & Believe Next thing will be to Listen to & believe SikhiWiki's expectations from us user. I will strongly recommend that you pick up SikhiWiki tricks from SikhiWiki Help & Sand Bag type pages before you decide to write your first article (NAME ?)
  • . 9. May I look forward to the......................>>>'NAME of your first article'.
Rest in next communication. WaKhaFa ! User:Mutia19 Feb 06
