I thank you for your time in writing about your views about this subject. However, if you wish to express your views, please first do not erase other people's articles without first discussing it with the original writer on their discussion page. They must be warned so that they can express their views.

Secondly, please back your views directly with Gurbani. You have not explained the Gurbani lines which you deleted. You must first confront these lines if you want to make a point. Gurbani has clearly criticised the eating of meat – please deal with these Shabads before you go any further.

The only Shabad that superficially appears to support your view is the one on page 553. But you have not interpreted this Shabad correctly. If we follow your logic for this Shabad then in line 3 Mardana ji refers to drinking meaning alcohol, this does not mean a Sikh is allowed to drink alcohol/beer.

These Shabads were written for the general public and on many occasions they referred to the habits of the public and how they should mend these habits. So Mardana ji is saying to the meat-eater, make modesty your meat. It does not refer to a Sikh to start eating meat. How do you explain the several Shabads by Bhagat Kabir which you deleted where Bhagat ji clearly criticises the killing of animals?

Finally, add your views to the article or create a new page and put them as an alternative.

These are the accepted procedure in the Wiki community. The views of other writers on the web cannot over-ride the principles expressed in Gurbani.
