ਅਚਾਰ-(ਮਿਥੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਰਨਾ । ਬਿਉਹਾਰਾ-ਵਿਹਾਰ, ਨਿੱਤ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ । ਮਾਨਿ-ਮੰਨ । ਮੰਤ੝ਰ੝-ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ । ਭਉਜਲ੝-ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ।3।
ਅਰਥ:- ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਟਿਕਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਸ੝ਣ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ । (ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਤੇਰਾ ਦ੝ੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭ੝ੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਇਗੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਣੇਂਗੀ ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਮ-ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗੇਂਗੀ, (ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਾਮ ਕ੝ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ, ਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ (ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਇਗੀ ।1।
ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ (ਦੱਸੀ) ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਤੇਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਵਿਤ੝ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ (ਇਹ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮ੝ਕਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ । (ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ!) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਝਂ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਬਣ ਜਾਝਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੋਭਾ-ਆਦਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ।2।
(ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ!) ਇਹੀ ਕ੝ਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਿੱਤ ਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਮੰਨ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੝ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ) ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ-ਭਗਤੀ (ਪ੝ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ) ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗੀ ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਇਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।3।28।

ਕਾਮ੝ ਕ੝ਰੋਧ੝ ਲੋਭ੝ ਮੋਹ੝ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਛ੝ਟਕੈ ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਮ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥

kaam krodhh lobh mohu mittaavai shhuttakai dhuramath apunee dhhaaree || hoe nimaanee saev kamaavehi thaa preetham hovehi man piaaree ||1||

sun su(n)dhar saadhhoo bachan oudhhaaree || dhookh bhookh mittai thaero sehasaa sukh paavehi thoo(n) sukhaman naaree ||1|| rehaao ||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:

If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well; and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved's Heart. ||1||

Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved. Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause||

ਪਦਅਰਥ:- ਮਿਟਾਵੈ-ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਛ੝ਟਕੈ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ-ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ । ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ-ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ । ਕਮਾਵਹਿ-ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ । ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ।1।
