ਅਨਦ ਮੂਲ੝ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਪ੝ਰਖੋਤਮ੝ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਅਨਦ ਅਨੰਦੇ ॥ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕੀ ਕਾਣਿ ਚ੝ਕਾਈ ਸਭਿ ਚੂਕੇ ਜਮ ਕੇ ਛੰਦੇ ॥1॥
ਕਾਮ੝ ਕ੝ਰੋਧ੝ ਲੋਭ੝ ਮੋਹ੝ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਛ੝ਟਕੈ ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਮ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥
 
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ੝ ਗ੝ੋਬਿੰਦੇ ॥ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗ੝ਰ੝ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਪਾਇਆ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਝ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
 
ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬਧਿਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਫਿਰੰਦੇ ॥ ਤ੝ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਕਿਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਧੇ ਜਿਉ ਤੇਲੀ ਬਲਦ ਭਵੰਦੇ ॥2॥
 
ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਧਰੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੰਦੇ ॥ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਫਲ੝ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭਿ ਤੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਫੰਦੇ ॥3॥
 
ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕ੝ਰ੝ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਕ੝ ਸਭ੝ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੇ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭ੝ ਵਰਤੈ ਜਿਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਰਹੰਦੇ ॥4॥6॥

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਅਨਦ ਮੂਲ੝—ਆਨੰਦ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ। ਪ੝ਰਖੋਤਮ੝—ਉੱਤਮ ਪ੝ਰਖ। ਅਨਦਿਨ੝—ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ। ਅਨੰਦੇ—ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ। ਕਾਣਿ—ਮ੝ਥਾਜੀ, ਧੌਂਸ, ਡਰ। ਸਭਿ—ਸਾਰੇ। ਚੂਕੇ—ਮ੝ੱਕ ਗਝ। ਛੰਦੇ—ਖ਼੝ਸ਼ਾਮਦਾਂ, ਮ੝ਲਾਹਜ਼ੇ।੧।
 
ਮਨ—ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗਬਿੰਦੇ—{ਅੱਖਰ 'ਗ' ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੋ ਲਗਾਂ ਹਨ— ੋ ਅਤੇ ੝। ਅਸਲ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਗੋਬਿੰਦੇ' ਹੈ, ਇਥੇ 'ਗ੝ਬਿੰਦੇ' ਪੜ੝ਹਨਾ ਹੈ}। ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੇ—ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ—ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
 
ਸਾਕਤ—ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟ੝ੱਟੇ ਹੋਝ। ਮੂੜ—ਮੂਰਖ। ਬਧਿਕ—ਬੱਝੇ ਹੋਝ। ਫਿਰਹਿ—ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤ੝ਰਿਸਨਾ—ਲਾਲਚ (ਦੀ ਅੱਗ)। ਕਿਰਤ—ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮ। ਕੇ—ਦੇ।੨।
 
ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਿ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ। ਸੇ—ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ {ਬਹ੝-ਵਚਨ}। ਉਧਰੇ—(ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੇਵ—ਸੇਵਾ—ਭਗਤੀ। ਸਭਿ ਫੰਦੇ—ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ।੩।
 
ਆਪੇ—ਆਪ ਹੀ। ਸਭ੝—ਹਰ ਥਾਂ। ਵਰਤੈ—ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ।੪।
 
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ਹਰੀ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ। ਜਿਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਸੋ, ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਉ)।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
 
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇ ਸੋਮੇ ਉੱਤਮ ਪ੝ਰਖ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਹੀ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਮ੝ਥਾਜੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ, ਉਹ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਡਰ ਮ੝ਕਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
 
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਟ੝ੱਟੇ ਹੋਝ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਪਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਝੇ ਹੋਝ ਉਹ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ (ਦੀ ਅੱਗ) ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ) ਭੌਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਲਦ ਕੋਹਲੂ ਦ੝ਆਲੇ ਸਦਾ ਭੌਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।
 
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਪਝ, ਉਹ (ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਝ। (ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੝ਹਾਂ ਮਨ੝ੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ (ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਦਾ) ਫਲ ਪ੝ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਟ੝ੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।੩।
 
(ਪਰ ਹੇ ਮਨ!) ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈ (ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ-ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੝ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਿਰਬਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਹਨ)।੪।੬।

I meditate on the source of bliss, the Sublime Primal Being; night and day, I am in ecstasy and bliss.
If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well;
The Righteous Judge of Dharma has no power over me; I have cast off all subservience to the Messenger of Death. ||1||
and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved's Heart. ||1||


Meditate, O mind, on the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe.
Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved.
By great good fortune, I have found the Guru, the True Guru; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of supreme bliss. ||1||Pause||
Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause||


The foolish faithless cynics are held captive by Maya; in Maya, they continue wandering, wandering around.

Burnt by desire, and bound by the karma of their past actions, they go round and round, like the ox at the mill press. ||2||

ਪਦਅਰਥ:- ਮਿਟਾਵੈ-ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਛ੝ਟਕੈ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ-ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ । ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ-ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ । ਕਮਾਵਹਿ-ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ । ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ।1।
Those who meditate on the Lord obtain the fruits of their rewards, and the bonds of Maya are all broken. ||3||
 
He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant. The Lord of the Universe Himself is all by Himself.
O servant Nanak, He Himself is All-pervading; as He keeps us, we remain. ||4||6||


ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ-ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ-ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ । ਉਧਾਰੀ-ਉਧਾਰਿ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਸਹਸਾ-ਸਹਮ । ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ-ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰੀ-ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਕਾਮ੝ ਕ੝ਰੋਧ੝ ਲੋਭ੝ ਮੋਹ੝ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਛ੝ਟਕੈ ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਮ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥

ਸ੝ਣਿ ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ ਉਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਮਿਟੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਸ੝ਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:

ਪਦਅਰਥ:- ਮਿਟਾਵੈ-ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਛ੝ਟਕੈ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ-ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ । ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ-ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ । ਕਮਾਵਹਿ-ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ । ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ।1।

ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ-ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ-ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ । ਉਧਾਰੀ-ਉਧਾਰਿ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਸਹਸਾ-ਸਹਮ । ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ-ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰੀ-ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।
