ਮਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ੝ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਗ੝ਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਗ੝ਰ ਕੇ ॥ ਸਭਿ ਇਛਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਸਭ੝ ਚੂਕਾ ਡਰ੝ ਜਮ ਕੇ ॥1॥
ਕਾਮ੝ ਕ੝ਰੋਧ੝ ਲੋਭ੝ ਮੋਹ੝ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਛ੝ਟਕੈ ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਮ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥
 
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਵਹ੝ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ॥ ਗ੝ਰਿ ਤ੝ਠੈ ਮਨ੝ ਪਰਬੋਧਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਪੀਆ ਰਸ੝ ਗਟਕੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
 
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਕੇਰੀ ਗ੝ਨ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੝ਰਭ ਕੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਮੇਲਹ੝ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਮ ਧੋਵਹ ਪਗ ਜਨ ਕੇ ॥2॥
 
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ੝ ਸਭ੝ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਰਸ੝ ਗ੝ਰਮਤਿ ਰਸ੝ ਰਸਕੇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ੝ ਹਰਿ ਜਲ੝ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭ ਲਾਥੀ ਤਿਸ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ॥3॥
 
ਹਮਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਾਤਿ ਗ੝ਰ੝ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਹਮ ਵੇਚਿਓ ਸਿਰ੝ ਗ੝ਰ ਕੇ ॥ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ੝ ਪਰਿਓ ਗ੝ਰ ਚੇਲਾ ਗ੝ਰ ਰਾਖਹ੝ ਲਾਜ ਜਨ ਕੇ ॥4॥1॥

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਮਨਿ—ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਗ੝ਰ ਸਬਦਿ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ। ਸਭਿ—ਸਾਰੀਆਂ। ਤਨਿ—ਤਨ ਵਿਚ। ਸਭ੝—ਸਾਰਾ। ਜਮ ਕੇ—ਜਮ ਦਾ।੧।
 
ਮਨ—ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗ੝ਰਿ ਤ੝ਠੈ—ਜੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਤ੝ਰ੝ੱਠ ਪਝ। ਪਰਬੋਧਿਆ—ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗਟਕੇ—ਗਟਕਿ, ਗਟ ਗਟ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਸ੝ਆਦ ਨਾਲ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
 
ਕੇਰੀ—ਦੀ। ਗਾਵੈ—ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰਿ—ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹਮ ਧੋਵਹ—ਅਸੀ ਧੋਵੀਝ। ਪਗ—ਪੈਰ।੨।
 
ਸਭ੝—ਸਦਾ (ਸ੝ਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ)। ਰਸਕੇ—ਰਸਕਿ, ਸ੝ਆਦ ਨਾਲ। ਅੰਮ੝ਰਿਤ੝ ਜਲ੝—ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ—ਜਲ। ਤਿਸ—ਤ੝ਰਿਖਾ, ਤ੝ਰੇਹ। ਤਿਸ ਕੇ—ਤਿਸ ਦੀ {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਤਿਸ੝' ਦਾ ੝ ਸੰਬੰਧਕ 'ਕੇ' ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉੱਡ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ}।੩।
 
ਗ੝ਰ ਕੇ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ। ਪਰਿਓ—ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਗ੝ਰ ਚੇਲਾ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ। ਲਾਜ—ਇੱਜ਼ਤ।੪।
 
ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਇਆ ਕਰ। ਜੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਉਤੇ) ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਝ, ਤਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਾਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸ੝ਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਪੀਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
 
ਜਿਸ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਨੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜ੝ੜ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਤਨ ਵਿਚ (ਉਪਜੀਆਂ) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਇੱਛਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਜਮ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਸਾਰਾ ਡਰ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
 
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੜਾ ਸ੝ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਥਾਂ ਹੈ (ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ) ਹਰਿ-ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਾ (ਉਥੇ) ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਵਾਂਗਾ।੨।
 
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰੇਕ ਸ੝ਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ) ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉਤੇ ਤ੝ਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਸ੝ਆਦ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਜਲ ਪ੝ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਤ੝ਰੇਹ ਲਹਿ ਗਈ।੩।
 
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗ੝ਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਹੈ, ਗ੝ਰੂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ 'ਗ੝ਰੂ ਕਾ ਸਿੱਖ' ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹ੝ਣ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਰੱਖ ਲੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਰੱਖ)।੪।੧।

Raag Soohee, Fourth Mehla, First House:
If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well;
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved's Heart. ||1||


My mind worships and adores the Lord's Name, through the Guru, and the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved.
All the desires of my mind and body have been fulfilled; all fear of death has been dispelled. ||1||
Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause||


O my mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord's Name.

And when the Guru is pleased and satisfied, the mind is instructed; it then joyfully drinks in the subtle essence of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the True Guru, is sublime and exalted. They sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord God.
ਪਦਅਰਥ:- ਮਿਟਾਵੈ-ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਛ੝ਟਕੈ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ-ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ । ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ-ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ । ਕਮਾਵਹਿ-ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ । ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ।1।
Bless me with Your Mercy, Lord, and unite me with the Sat Sangat; I wash the feet of Your humble servants. ||2||
 
The Lord's Name is all. The Lord's Name is the essence of the Guru's Teachings, the juice, the sweetness of it.
I have found the Ambrosial Nectar, the Divine Water of the Lord's Name, and all my thirst for it is quenched. ||3||
 
The Guru, the True Guru, is my social status and honor; I have sold my head to the Guru.
Servant Nanak is called the chaylaa, the disciple of the Guru; O Guru, save the honor of Your servant. ||4||1||


ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ-ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ-ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ । ਉਧਾਰੀ-ਉਧਾਰਿ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਸਹਸਾ-ਸਹਮ । ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ-ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰੀ-ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਕਾਮ੝ ਕ੝ਰੋਧ੝ ਲੋਭ੝ ਮੋਹ੝ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਛ੝ਟਕੈ ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਪ੝ਰੀਤਮ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥

ਸ੝ਣਿ ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ ਉਧਾਰੀ ॥ ਦੂਖ ਭੂਖ ਮਿਟੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਸ੝ਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kaam krodhh lobh mohu mittaavai shhuttakai dhuramath apunee dhhaaree || hoe nimaanee saev kamaavehi thaa preetham hovehi man piaaree ||1||

sun su(n)dhar saadhhoo bachan oudhhaaree || dhookh bhookh mittai thaero sehasaa sukh paavehi thoo(n) sukhaman naaree ||1|| rehaao ||

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:

ਪਦਅਰਥ:- ਮਿਟਾਵੈ-ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਛ੝ਟਕੈ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ-ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ । ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ-ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ । ਕਮਾਵਹਿ-ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ । ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ।1।

ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ-ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ-ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ । ਉਧਾਰੀ-ਉਧਾਰਿ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਸਹਸਾ-ਸਹਮ । ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ-ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰੀ-ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।
