ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਲਾਜ ਰਖਹ੝ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨ੝ ਜਪਾਵਹ੝ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਮ ਮਾਗੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਇਕਾਕੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਪਦ ਅਰਥ :-ਕਲਿ-ਝਗੜੇ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ । ਜ੝ਗ-ਸਮਾ । ਕਲਿਜ੝ਗ-ਝਗੜੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਜਗਤ {ਨੋਟ-ਇਥੇ ‘ਜ੝ਗਾਂ’ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ । ਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਦਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦ੝ਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਕਾਰਨ ਝਗੜੇ-ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਵਧੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ} । ਕਲਿਜ੝ਗ ਕਾ ਧਰਮ੝-ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਜੋ ਦ੝ਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕੇ । ਭਾਈ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਕਿਵ ਛੂਟਹ-ਅਸੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਚੀਝ ? ਛ੝ਟਕਾਕੀ-ਬਚਣ ਦੇ ਚਾਹਵਾਨ । ਤ੝ਲਹਾ-ਨਦੀ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਲੱਕੜਾਂ ਬਾਂਸਾਂ ਆਦਿਕ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੝ਹ ਕੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਸਰਾ । ਤਰਾਕੀ-ਤਾਰੂ ।1।

hoe nimaanee saev kamaavehi thaa preetham hovehi man piaaree ||1||
ਲਾਜ-ਇੱਜ਼ਤ । ਹਮ ਮਾਗੀ-ਅਸਾਂ ਮੰਗੀ ਹੈ । ਇਕਾਕੀ-ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
 
ਸੇ-ਉਹ {ਬਹ੝-ਬਚਨ} । ਬਚਨਾਕੀ-ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ । ਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਗ੝ਪਤਿ-ਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਗ੝ਪਤ ਨੇ {ਚਿਤ੝ਰ ਗ੝ਪਤ-ਧਰਮ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਮੰਨੇ ਗਝ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ} । ਛੂਟੀ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਗਈ । ਬਾਕੀ-ਹਿਸਾਬ ।2।


ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ । ਲਗਿ-ਲੱਗ ਕੇ । ਦਿਨੀਅਰ੝- {ਦਿਨਕਰ} ਸੂਰਜ । ਸੂਰ੝-ਸੂਰਜ । ਅਗਨਿ-ਅੱਗ । ਸਿਵ-ਕੱਲਿਆਣ-ਸਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ । ਚੰਦਾਕੀ-ਚਾਨਣੀ ਵਾਲਾ ।3।

dhookh bhookh mittai thaero sehasaa sukh paavehi thoo(n) sukhaman naaree ||1|| rehaao ||


ਅਗਮ-ਅਪਹ੝ੰਚ । ਅਗੋਚਰ- {ਅ-ਗੋ-ਚਰ । ਗੋ-ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੝ਰ੝ਰੇ} ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੝ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਹ੝ੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ । ਅਪਾਕੀ-ਆਪ ਹੀ । ਕਉ-ਨੂੰ, ਉਤੇ । ਕਰਿ-ਬਣਾ ਲੈ ।4।

Aasaa, Fifth Mehla:


ਅਰਥ :-ਹੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਜੀ ! (ਦ੝ਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਹੇ ਹਰੀ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਦੇਹ । ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ।ਰਹਾਉ।
If she renounces and eliminates her sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment, and her evil-mindedness and self-conceit as well;
and if, becoming humble, she serves Him, then she becomes dear to her Beloved's Heart. ||1||


ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਧਰਮ ਦੱਸ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ । ਮੈਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਝੰਬੇਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣਾ ਚਾਹ੝ੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ । ਦੱਸ; ਮੈਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਬਚਾਂ ? (ਉੱਤਰ-) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਬੇੜੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਤ੝ਲਹਾ ਹੈ । ਜਿਸ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਨੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਹ ਤਾਰੂ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।1।
Listen, O beautiful soul-bride: By the Word of the Holy Saint, you shall be saved.
Your pain, hunger and doubt shall vanish, and you shall obtain peace, O happy soul-bride. ||1||Pause||


ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਜਿਨ੝ਹਾਂ ਮਨ੝ੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ, ਉਹ ਸੇਵਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ । ਚਿੱਤਰ ਗ੝ਪਤ ਨੇ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ (ਦੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ) ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ਧਰਮਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਹੀ ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।2।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ ! ਜਿਨ੝ਹਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੱਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਪਿਆ, ਮਾਨੋ) ਠੰਢਕ ਪ੝ਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਚੰਦ ਚੜ੝ਹ ਪਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਬ੝ਝਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ; (ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਤਪਦਾ ਸੂਰਜ (ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ) ।3।
 
ਹੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ; ਤੂੰ ਅਪਹ੝ੰਚ ਹੈਂ; ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੝ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਤਕ ਪਹ੝ੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ । ਤੂੰ (ਹਰ ਥਾਂ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪ ਹੈਂ । ਹੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ! ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ ।4।6।

ਪਦਅਰਥ:- ਮਿਟਾਵੈ-ਮਿਟਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਛ੝ਟਕੈ-ਮ੝ੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । ਦ੝ਰਮਤਿ-ਭੈੜੀ ਮਤਿ । ਅਪ੝ਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ-ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਈ । ਕਮਾਵਹਿ-ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਰੇਂ । ਮਨਿ-ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ।1।

Tell me, O Siblings of Destiny, the religion for this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. I seek emancipation - how can I be emancipated?

O Dear Lord, protect and preserve the honor of Your humble servant.
O Lord, Har, Har, please make me chant the chant of Your Name; I beg only for Your devotional worship. ||Pause||
 
The Lord's servants are very dear to the Lord; they chant the Word of the Lord's Bani.
The account of the recording angels, Chitr and Gupt, and the account with the Messenger of Death is totally erased. ||2||
 
The Saints of the Lord meditate on the Lord in their minds; they join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
The piercing sun of desires has set, and the cool moon has risen. ||3||


You are the Greatest Being, absolutely unapproachable and unfathomable; You created the Universe from Your Own Being.
ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ-ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ-ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ । ਉਧਾਰੀ-ਉਧਾਰਿ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਸਹਸਾ-ਸਹਮ । ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ-ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰੀ-ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।
O God, take pity on servant Nanak, and make him the slave of the slave of Your slaves. ||4||6||

ਸ੝ੰਦਰਿ-ਹੇ ਸ੝ੰਦਰੀ! ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ਸਾਧੂ ਬਚਨ-ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ । ਉਧਾਰੀ-ਉਧਾਰਿ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡ੝ੱਬਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈ । ਸਹਸਾ-ਸਹਮ । ਸ੝ਖਮਨਿ-ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ । ਨਾਰੀ-ਹੇ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀ! ।1।ਰਹਾਉ।
