ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਉਮਾਹਾ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਵਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਲੇਖਣਿ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਆਪੇ ਲੇਖ੝ ਲਿਖਾਹਾ ॥1॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ੝ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨ੝ ਅਨਦ੝ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਲੈ ਗ੝ਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਹਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਆਪੇ ਗੋਪੀ ਕਾਨ੝ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਬਨਿ ਆਪੇ ਗਊ ਚਰਾਹਾ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਸਾਵਲ ਸ੝ੰਦਰਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਆਪੇ ਵੰਸ੝ ਵਜਾਹਾ ॥ ਕ੝ਵਲੀਆ ਪੀੜ੝ ਆਪਿ ਮਰਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਲਕ ਰੂਪਿ ਪਚਾਹਾ ॥2॥

ਆਪਿ ਅਖਾੜਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਚੋਜਾਹਾ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਲਕ ਰੂਪ ਉਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਚੰਡੂਰ੝ ਕੰਸ੝ ਕੇਸ੝ ਮਾਰਾਹਾ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਲ੝ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਬਲ੝ ਭੰਨੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਮ੝ਗਧਾਹਾ ॥3॥

ਸਭ੝ ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤ੝ ਉਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਵਸਿ ਆਪੇ ਜ੝ਗਤਿ ਹਥਾਹਾ ॥ ਗਲਿ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਇਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜਿਉ ਪ੝ਰਭ੝ ਖਿੰਚੈ ਤਿਉ ਜਾਹਾ ॥ ਜੋ ਗਰਬੈ ਸੋ ਪਚਸੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥4॥6॥

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਉਮਾਹਾ—ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਾ। ਸਬਦਿ—ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ। ਸਮਾਹਾ—ਲੀਨਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੇਖਣਿ—ਕਲਮ।੧।

ਓਮਾਹਾ—ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ (ਨਾਲ)। ਅਨਦਿਨ੝—ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼, ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ। ਗ੝ਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ—ਪੂਰੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਗੋਪੀ—ਗਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਇਸਤ੝ਰੀਆਂ। ਕਾਨ੝—ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ। ਬਨਿ—ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ, ਬਿੰਦ੝ਰਾਬਨ ਵਿਚ। ਸਾਵਲ ਸ੝ੰਦਰਾ—ਸਾਵਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ (ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ)। ਵੰਸ੝—ਬੰਸਰੀ। ਕ੝ਵਲੀਆਪੀੜ੝—ਕੰਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਥੀ ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ। ਰੂਪਿ—ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ। ਪਚਾਹਾ—ਨਾਸ।੨।

ਅਖਾੜਾ—(ਜਗਤ-) ਪਿੜ। ਚੋਜਾਹਾ—ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ, ਖੇਡਾਂ। ਚੰਡੂਰ੝—ਕੰਸ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ। ਕੰਸ੝—ਕੇਸੀ। ਮ੝ਗਧਾਹਾ—ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦਾ।੩।

ਸਭ੝—ਸਾਰਾ। ਵਸਿ—ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ। ਗਲਿ—ਗਲ ਵਿਚ। ਜੇਵੜੀ—ਰੱਸੀ। ਖਿੰਚੈ—ਖਿੱਚਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗਰਬੈ—ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਚਸੀ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ।੪।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ। ਪੂਰੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਖੱਟ ਲੈ। (ਜੇਹੜਾ) ਵਡ-ਭਾਗੀ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ (ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ) ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਸ੝ਖ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ) ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗ੝ਣ ਗਾਵਣ ਲਈ ਪ੝ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਲਮ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਲਮ ਚਲਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਹੀ ਗੋਪੀਆਂ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਬਿੰਦ੝ਰਾਬਨ) ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਗਾਈਆਂ ਚਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਂਵਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੰਸਰੀ ਵਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਾਲਕ-ਰੂਪ (ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ-ਰੂਪ) ਵਿਚ (ਕੰਸ ਦੇ ਭੇਜੇ ਹੋਝ ਹਾਥੀ) ਕ੝ਵਲੀਆਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ) ਅਖਾੜਾ ਬਣਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਜਗਤ-ਅਖਾੜੇ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕੌਤਕ-ਤਮਾਸ਼ੇ ਰਚ ਕੇ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਾਲਕ-ਰੂਪ ਕ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਚੰਡੂਰ, ਕੇਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਰਵਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਹੀ ਤਾਕਤ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮੂਰਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਭੰਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਿਆਰਾ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ-) ਜ੝ਗਤਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ) ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਸੀ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ (ਉਸ ਰੱਸੀ ਨੂੰ) ਖਿੱਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੇ) ਤ੝ਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! (ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ (ਆਪਣੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਬਲ ਆਦਿਕ ਦਾ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ।੪।੬।

aap akhaarraa paaeidhaa piaaraa kar vaekhai aap chojaahaa || kar baalak roop oupaaeidhaa piaaraa cha(n)ddoor ka(n)s kaes maaraahaa || aapae hee bal aap hai piaaraa bal bha(n)nai moorakh mugadhhaahaa ||3||

sabh aapae jagath oupaaeidhaa piaaraa vas aapae jugath hathhaahaa || gal jaevarree aapae paaeidhaa piaaraa jio prabh khi(n)chai thio jaahaa || jo garabai so pachasee piaarae jap naanak bhagath samaahaa ||4||6||

Sorat'h, Fourth Mehla:

The Beloved Himself commits some to His service; He Himself blesses them with the joy of devotional worship. The Beloved Himself causes us to sing His Glorious Praises; He Himself is absorbed in the Word of His Shabad. He Himself is the pen, and He Himself is the scribe; He Himself inscribes His inscription. ||1||

O my mind, joyfully chant the Name of the Lord. Those very fortunate ones are in ecstasy night and day; through the Perfect Guru, they obtain the profit of the Lord's Name. ||Pause||

The Beloved Himself is the milk-maid and Krishna; He Himself herds the cows in the woods. The Beloved Himself is the blue-skinned, handsome one; He Himself plays on His flute. The Beloved Himself took the form of a child, and destroyed Kuwalia-peer, the mad elephant. ||2||

The Beloved Himself sets the stage; He performs the plays, and He Himself watches them. The Beloved Himself assumed the form of the child, and killed the demons Chandoor, Kansa and Kaysee. The Beloved Himself, by Himself, is the embodiment of power; He shatters the power of the fools and idiots. ||3||

The Beloved Himself created the whole world. In His hands He holds the power of the ages. The Beloved Himself puts the chains around their necks; as God pulls them, must they go. Whoever harbors pride shall be destroyed, O Beloved; meditating on the Lord, Nanak is absorbed in devotional worship. ||4||6||
