How to add a photo to article in Sikhiwiki

Dear Khalsa ji,

Basic Procedure is:

  • 1. Select the "upload file" option on the left hand "Toolbox" options
  • 2. Select "Browse..." from the Upload file panel
  • 3. Choose the file that you wish to upload from your computer - Please make sure that you do not infringe any copyrights and comply with Sikhiwiki guidelines
  • 4. Select the "Upload file" button at the bottom of the panel. This will upload the file to SikhiWiki.
  • 5 The next screen will display your image/photo. Make a note of the file name at the top of the page - say the name is "test_image.jpg". I normally Copy the name on to the clipboard. This can be done by highlighting the name (left-click and move the mouse cursor over the file name, put the mouse cursor over the highlighted area and right-click and select copy - this has copied the image name into the clipboard.)
  • 6. Go to the article where you wish to insert the image. Select the edit option on top of the page and go to the correct location on the page text where you wish to insert the image.
  • 7. At the point enter the code:
[[ file:test_image.jpg|250px|right|This is a test image ]]
  • 8. Select the preview option at the bottom of the edit screen - this will show you the image on your article page - make any adjustment that may be necessary. When you are happy with the result - press the 'save' button at the bottom of the screen.
