ਸਲੋਕ੝ ਮਃ 5 ॥ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗ੝ਰ੝ ਆਰਾਧਣਾ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਜਪਿ ਗ੝ਰ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਨੇਤ੝ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ੝ ਪੇਖਣਾ ਸ੝ਰਵਣੀ ਸ੝ਨਣਾ ਗ੝ਰ ਨਾਉ ॥ ਸਤਿਗ੝ਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਰਤਿਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਝ ਠਾਉ ॥ ਕਹ੝ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਝਹ ਵਥ੝ ਦੇਇ ॥ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਉਤਮ ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕੇਈ ਕੇਇ ॥1॥

Fifth Mehla: O Savior Lord, save us and take us across. Falling at the feet of the Guru, our works are embellished with perfection. You have become kind, merciful and compassionate; we do not forget You from our minds. In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, we are carried across the terrifying world-ocean. In an instant, You have destroyed the faithless cynics and slanderous enemies. That Lord and Master is my Anchor and Support; O Nanak, hold firm in your mind. Remembering Him in meditation, happiness comes, and all sorrows and pains simply vanish. ||2||

Pauree: He is without relatives, immaculate, all-powerful, unapproachable and infinite. Truly, the True Lord is seen to be the Truest of the True. Nothing established by You appears to be false. The Great Giver gives sustenance to all those He has created. He has strung all on only one thread; He has infused His Light in them. By His Will, some drown in the terrifying world-ocean, and by His Will, some are carried across. O Dear Lord, he alone meditates on You, upon whose forehead such blessed destiny is inscribed. Your condition and state cannot be known; I am a sacrifice to You. ||1||

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਅੰਤਰਿ—ਮਨ ਵਿਚ। ਆਰਾਧਣਾ—ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ। ਗ੝ਰ ਨਾਉ—ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ। ਸ੝ਰਵਣੀ—ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ। ਸੇਤੀ—ਨਾਲ। ਰਤਿਆ—ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ, ਪਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ। ਵਥ੝—ਚੀਜ਼। ਕਾਢੀਅਹਿ—ਅਖਵਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਅਰਥ: ਜੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੝ਰੂ (ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ) ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਈਝ ਤਾਂ (ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੀ) ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣਾ, ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣਾ, ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸ੝ਣਨਾ-ਇਹ ਦਾਤਿ, ਆਖ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਸ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸ੝ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਪਰ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਹ੝ੰਦੇ) ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਹਨ।੧।

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਰਖਣਹਾਰਿ—ਰੱਖਣਹਾਰ ਨੇ, ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ (ਪ੝ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ। ਉਬਾਰਿਅਨ੝—ਬਚਾ ਲਝ ਉਸ (ਪ੝ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ। ਸਵਾਰਿਅਨ੝—ਸਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ। ਮਨਹ੝—ਮਨ ਤੋਂ। ਵਿਸਾਰਿਅਨ੝—ਵਿਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ। ਭਵਜਲ੝—ਸੰਸਾਰ—ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ। ਤਾਰਿਅਨ੝—ਤਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ। ਸਾਕਤ੝—ਟ੝ਟੇ ਹੋਝ, ਵਿਛ੝ੜੇ ਹੋਝ। ਬਿਦਾਰਿਅਨ੝—ਨਾਸ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ।

ਅਰਥ: ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਜਿਨ੝ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੝ਰੂ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੝ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਦਿਆਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨੋਂ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੝ਰਮ੝ਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰੱਖ ਕੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਤਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਟ੝ੱਟੇ ਹੋਝ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਗੰਦੇ ਆਚਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਮ੝ਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ।

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆਂ ਸ੝ਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦ੝ੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਪਦਅਰਥ: ਅਕ੝ਲ—ਅ+ਕ੝ਲ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕ੝ਲ ਨਹੀਂ। ਨਿਰੰਜਨ—ਨਿਰ+ਅੰਜਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦੀ। ਪ੝ਰਖ੝—ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈ। ਅਗਮ੝—ਜਿਸ ਤਕ ਪਹ੝ੰਚ ਨਾ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ, ਅਪਹ੝ੰਚ। ਅਪਾਰੀਝ—ਅ+ਪਾਰ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਾਹ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੇ। ਸਚਾ—ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਨਿਹਾਰੀਝ—ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨ ਜਾਪੈ—ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਦੀ, ਮਲੂਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹ੝ੰਦੀ। ਧਾਰੀਝ—ਬਣਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਦੇ—ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਤ—ਜਿਤਨੀ (ਸ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ। ਇਕਤ੝ ਸੂਤਿ—ਇਕੋ ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ। ਸੰਜਾਰੀਝ—ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਤੀ ਹੈ। ਮਥਾਰੀਝ—ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ। ਗਤਿ—ਹਾਲਤ। ਮਿਤਿ—ਮਿਣਤੀ, ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ! ਤੇਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਕ੝ਲ ਨਹੀਂ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ਼ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦੀ, ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ, ਅਪਹ੝ੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ ਸੱਚ-ਮ੝ਚ ਹਸਤੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਵੇਖਣ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਕੋਈ ਚੀਜ਼ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਮਨਘੜਤ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪਦੀ।

(ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ) ਸ੝ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚ) ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ (ਦਾਤਾਂ) ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ (ਹ੝ਕਮ-ਰੂਪ) ਧਾਗੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੝ਰੋ ਕੇ (ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ; ਆਪਣੇ ਹ੝ਕਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮ੝ੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ (ਫਸਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ) ਹ੝ਕਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਤਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਪ੝ਰਭੂ ਜੀ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਹੀ ਮਨ੝ੱਖ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਗ ਹੋਵੇ; ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਕੇਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।੧।
