Here it is stated that the Jain priest could not travel to the Us because of Jain caste restrictions. Mohandas K. Gandhi was shunned from his caste because he traveled over 'salt' water. Why is traveling over salt water (the sea) verboten or forbidden. Gandi apparently refused to do the pennance the Cow mutra ect. and stayed outside his caste ever after? can't finfd this one in books or the net. just the referance to its being forbidden looks to be the same for the Jain. Rhymes at least in english sayeth richard. bad gazhal form.
