The Sikh religion is one that believes and actively advocates family life and community cohesion. The family unit plays an important part in a viable happy and sustainable community. Respect for ones parents is an inherent part of good community relations. A community is a scaled up family unit; the behaviours and communication skills learnt in the family can equally well be applied to relations in a community situation.
