Multani are labanas which are orignally from multan in pakistan. These were said to be traders of grain. These are mostly found in pakistan i.e multan, lahore. Multani, as such could very well be used by Labanas and non-Labanas. Using a place for a last name is a fairly frequent custom as we know.
